Rock Your Rack

The Rock Your Rack Event opens tomorrow in Second Life, and it truly is one of those wonderful events on the grid that shows the very best of what SL is all about. It’s two weeks of music, clothing and art, and many talented designers have created limited editions where 100% of purchases goes to Breast Cancer Research. The fabulous top I’m rocking above is from Moz Designs, is one of these limited editions. It comes in 7 totally different patterns and 7 solids, but all share the same great fitted shape — I love how it really nips in at the waist without looking skintight, and then the little ruffle at the bottom just adds a little feminine flounce. I loved the look  pairing it with jeans and boots (I resisted adding the cowboy hat because hey, I was on a bike lol), but I experimented, and  it also looks great with a short skirt. Great shape, great fit, great textures, great cause… what else is there to say but get out there and Rock Your Rack!!! One thing I’m constantly learning and relearning is that the one thing you can always count on is CHANGE. Sometimes it’s good. Sometimes it’s not. Often, it’s a combination of the two. And this is fall, where the very essence of that change is all around us, so naturally, there’s lots of change happening in my life too. Let’s talk about the good!

First off, in my SL: I have a new sponsor!!! If you don’t know Stone’s Works, you should. It’s been a rough week. I’m so glad it’s Friday, not that it really means much any more considering that I’ve started a new online business where I work from home on the computer all day.  Still, weekend days SEEM different somehow. Perhaps it’s just mental carryover from all the years of getting dressed and commuting hours back and forth to a “real” job and then coming home to change into an outfit like this one.  (How’s THAT for a segue!?!) Just by a quick glance, you can tell it’s an Allure Couture outfit by the attention to detail — the buttons at the front of pants, the zippers at the tops of the thighs and the open ones at the ankles (I LOVE the ones at the ankles!), the inset above the knees, the splash of pattern on the back pockets, the loose folds of the top, the way the bra fits… you just feel so relaxed and easygoing yet still so sexy when wearing this.  And that’s a killer combination… both for you, and for anyone else.  😉

There are so many parts to putting together a blog, which you already know because I’ve talked about how much I love putting them all together. Discovering the detail in an outfit like this from Sweet E’s is a pure joy — the sheer sections have a wonderful “netted” texture, and while they’re large enough to be quite sexy, they don’t cross over to become what I would consider trashy; on the solid pieces, the pattern is beautiful and rich, ESPECIALLY on the boots, where the lacing and the grommets took my breath away they’re so realistic (as are the zippers!); the chain link “straps” connecting the top and the bottom are extremely well done… all in all, just really well-pleased with all the textures and shading. Found the perfect jewelry, hair, skin… And then I go to do the shoot in a fabulous new sim like Kekeland-Bardeco, only to get knocked out of position while standing out of the way shooting in a doorway — wearing a pretty large modeling light I’ve built btw which simply can’t be missed — by other avi’s not once, but twice, and one of them kept running into me repeatedly.  AND NO APOLOGIES!  NOT ONE! I mean, seriously???  I’m a New Yorker and we have a reputation for supposedly being rude, and I would at least say “excuse me” if I banged into someone, let alone someone doing a photo shoot.  Well, that’s my rant for the week (ok, at least for the day lol)… 😉

One of the many things that I love about MOZ Designs is that there is ALWAYS something new coming out. The latest creation off the non-stop drawing board are these snug-fitting, beautifully constructed, comfy-looking, eternally stylish rolled-cuff jeans. La Belle Soirée

The minute I opened this box, I gasped. And once I put it on, I felt transported. I just couldn’t believe the detail… it looked like Rene had sat there painstakingly hand-sewing every bead to the bodice. It embodies elegance, but has enough transparency to the bodice to add a definite layer of sexuality.  This dress just needs the minimum touches of jewelry (my earrings didn’t photograph well, but they’re just simple pearl drops) and not too overpowering an updo.  And since it’s designed to be shape-hugging, when you slip it on over my Tonic curves, well, oooh la la… where else could I wear it but Paris? Special thanks here to  Zander Reeves, who helped me make my vision come true since I simply could not find the Paris I envisioned here on the grid, and was kind enough to edit it in for me after first trying to build it, and then bouncing around the grid with me a bit and sitting through my shoot.  On a side note, Champagne is just the first color of the fabulous Aria dress…  and it is EXCLUSIVELY available at the FitMesh Plaza & Event, it’s NOT at the main store. Other colors are to come, though personally, I don’t think any can possibly compare to this amazingly beautiful tone…

Even if that hint of fall has not quite yet hit the air, it certainly has hit the calendar. I was actually stuck behind my first school bus yesterday lol! But I do love when the evenings get cool, and the jackets come out, and sometimes a little snuggling is necessary just to stay warm. And although summer is definitely hanging on, the new crop of fall clothes is definitely appearing both in the real world and here in Second Life. I just couldn’t resist either this one-buttoned open denim shirt with its stand-up little collar or these hip-hugging patterned denims (a whole bunch of different patterns, this is the only light one) that came through my “inbox”… sexy, but relaxed, perfect for the in-between change of seasons. At least here on the grid I don’t have to worry about getting my boxes down and moving my wardrobe all around! There’s always room for more!

How many times have I thought “yes, this is it!”, the head I’ve waited for, the best skirt, the best hair designer, the best this, the best that. The answer is countless, and I’m sure it will continue to be so in the future. Because yes, I have once again, broken several promises to myself. I have (a) bought another head… and yes, once again, I feel that THIS IS THE ONE! I adored Sandy, but Athena takes my look two steps further, with eyes that are more slanted and lips that are fuller, both of which were on my wish list.  And although I promised myself to cut back on hair, there’s an amazing sale at Argrace, with every single hair on sale for 100L per color from Sept 1-10, so yes, I (b) splurged on quite a few photographic styles like this one.  As for my outfit, when it’s MOZ mix ‘n’ match, I always wonder how I’ve never put it together before quite like this, because how could I have missed out on this look!?!
