So yes, now that I live in Florida (one year yesterday!!!), this kind of scene can only take place in my memory or here on the grid.  And yes, I DO miss that beauty, all the colors in a “good” autumn (some years the colors are brilliant, some years not so much, all depending on what the rainfall had been); I miss that crispness & the richness (is that a word?) of the colors, the energy that seems to build up as the world around is dying and shutting down for winter.  But it got downright chilly here in central Florida for a few days this past week, into the low 50s with a wind, and it reminded me that I definitely do NOT miss the cold.  I much prefer being able to take a long meandering walk with the dog, enjoying it not being hot, not being cold, but being just perfectly temperate with a light breeze.  Delightful!  But here in SL, I am definitely celebrating all the beauty of the autumnal colors, both in my landscaping and in my clothing (lots of greens, browns, oranges, and deep reds)… I’ve been shopping up a storm!!!  May your autumn be full of fabulous finds as well… happy shopping!

Well, the problems persist on my website.  As I thought, everyone is pointing the finger at everyone else, and meanwhile I’m left with a nonfunctioning blog.  But at least the pix are on FlickR, and the story is there in the blog, even if the pic can’t always be seen there.  Hopefully, someone will figure it out, because it’s certainly technically beyond my skill.  While I wait, I decided to redo my avatar (yes, again!!!)… new body, new skin since I thought it was time to “put my tan away” (did NOT change my head, love my head).  Absolutely LOVING the look.  And the ease of this new body (Legacy) cannot be overstated!  When something isn’t made “in my size”, I no longer have to change bodies or spend ages trying to make it work… now I just use “deformers” and it seems to work fine (yes, I’m still adding that disclaimer since I’ve had the body only a few days and certainly haven’t put it through an exhaustive test).  Bottom line, even though the weather for my blog isn’t perfect, I’m going to say the storm is over… if I never have totally clear skies again, well, I’ll deal with that once everyone throws their hands up and says they can’t fix it.  Maybe I move to another host? Summer is here!  It seems that I’m about to find out the truth behind all the warnings that summers here are brutal.  From what I’m told, some people have a very hard time handling it; others just seem to take it in stride and enjoy it with a slight shifting of activities. We shall see which category I fall into! In my little corner of the world, life seems to be heading back to normal.  The vast majority of those who want to be vaccinated have done so, which makes everyone more willing to go out and do things.  And as more activities resume after this more-than-a-year-long hiatus, there’s so much more to do!  With the snowbirds returning to the north, it’s starting to get easier to get into classes where spacing is limited because of still-in-effect Covid restrictions.  The bottom line is that I’m busier than ever, both with physical activities and now with a newly invigorated social life.  It really is amazing to me how life has changed since our move in November.  The looming issue are the warnings about how hot it does get here in the summer.  Well, NY was no picnic either with its hot humid summers, but summer here does last about twice as long.  Of course, everything down here is air conditioned and many outdoor restaurant spots have misters, which should help but only time will tell.  At this point, I’m actually enjoying the hot days (we’ve been in the low 90s many times already, but who knows?  All I can do is prepare for the long, hot summer ahead! (And of course, shop… there’s always shopping!!!!)

Life definitely seems to be in free fall.  Like kids at summer camp, we’re busy running around trying all kinds of new activities.  At this point, almost all of them are physical since “mental” activities tend to be indoors which means most either aren’t happening yet or I won’t feel comfortable enough until the two weeks have passed since I got my 2nd vaccine.  And therein lies the problem… mentally we’re totally into bouncing from new activity to new activity… physically our bodies are going “whoa baby, let’s talk about this”.  I’m gimping around a bit, and am almost ready (I think) to try out my new bicycle again (seat was too low and I really hurt my knee last time); hubs is in horrible pain from something he did to his hamstring.  Urgent Care didn’t help; waiting for a doctor appointment now, but it’s been a couple of weeks of non-activity with incredible pain for him.  This has necessarily meant that I’ve needed to temporarily take over all the chores and errands he normally handles, plus wait on him as much as he’ll allow… On top of that, I tried taking apart my desk chair to try to figure out the type of gas cylinder it needs (no manufacturer name on the chair, how is that possible lol), it’s still in pieces on the floor (I’m not the most mechanically minded), so I’m sitting on a highly uncomfortable bridge chair…  All of this creating a situation where being inworld, let alone blogging, has been more difficult.  Free falling, indeed!  But despite all that, absolutely no way I would miss this absolutely adorable little outfit (and neither should you!)…  and on that note, happy shopping!

Ugh, there are times I can really hate February.  It’s just so short… you’d be amazed how those 2 or 3 days really impact you in a month of blogging when most events don’t start until the 2nd week.  Think of it this way… that 2 or 3 days is at least one and possibly two blogs the way I shoot/post (I’m on the slower side because I take a zillion shots for every post, with very rare exceptions).  This year February has been even harder because I’m still settling into my new, much more active life, and I’m finding that my blogging hours are severely shorted and my energy severely diminished as well.  I also received my first COVID 19 shot, and unlike most people, I did get a killer migraine as a reaction to shot #1 that lasted for a few days… nothing serious, thankfully, but enough that I couldn’t sit at a computer and concentrate, let alone be creative. That said I know in the scheme of things this is all minor bs; I’m incredibly lucky to have this new active lifestyle, to have received my shot, and to have a fabulous bunch of sponsors who generally understand that when Second Life and real life conflict, well, real life just has to win out.  (And believe me, that is something I have fought time and again in the 14 years I’ve been here!)  But I am human (sadly sometimes, lol), and I do spend quite a bit of time in “If Only” mode.  At the moment, it’s “if only I had a few more days”… but alas, life doesn’t work that way as we all know.  The best thing in Second Life that I know for this ailment is shopping therapy!!!!  May you be as happy in your shopping as I am in mine lol!

I’m already bored with winter (yes, even here in Florida!), so I’m taking a short blogging break from all that snow (who knows, the break may be only one post, but still, a break is a break).  With Covid ramping up so, I’m spending more and more time at home, and I’m finding that means lots of conversations with my animals (a dog, two cats, and two parakeets).  I thought I’d bring some of that into my Second Life as well!  Just like the rest of the world, I’m waiting for life to get back to normal, whatever that is.  In the meantime, thank goodness for online shopping and everything else… which brings me to my standard tagline lol!  Happy shopping!

Enough already, right? I realize how extremely fortunate I am to have such good things happening in my life at a time when so many people are suffering, and I also know that it’s something that I worked very hard for a very, very, very long time.  I also know that an awful lot of people have been forced into much less-positive moves, against their will. But I do have to also say that this is EXHAUSTING.  No matter how many things I cross off the list, even more are being added.  We did have a few pieces of furniture delivered today, so now at least we have chairs to sit on.  But the POD arrived as well, and we have just a couple of days to unload it all and then start the process of figuring out every item’s new home. And then, and then, and then, and then, and then…  grabbing even a short bit of time for myself to just “be” is priceless… hmmm, maybe this is actually a self-portrait (though NEVER in shoes like these)?!?  Happy shopping!
