I love the holidays and look forward to them like everyone else, but I’m already reaching that saturation point where I just wish they were over already… the music is wonderful the first 20 or 30 times you hear it, singing and dancing a little along with it, but by the 500th time, it’s enough already!  I love the twinkly holiday decorations, especially ones done with style and taste, as opposed to haphazard quantity, but honestly, those blow-ups have just got to go! So many houses where I live have crowded blowup scenes going on, and honestly, it’s just so tacky.   That said, I try to avoid overload myself… I mean that one extra candy cane can just tip it over the edge lol! When I first tried on this amazing outfit with this particular hair (both being at the same event), I was immediately hit with a strong sense of French style.  I even went so far as to dress my partner in what I consider French style, and greeted his rez-in with a “bon soir”…  for my blog shot, I envisioned strolling down a French boulevard or through a French market, baguettes in my arms, perhaps the Eiffel Tower in the background; just something very undeniably French, perhaps with a title along the lines of Je m’appelle Ceja Laval.  But SL was against me (not that unusual lol); I could get the baguettes, but not the French setting.  This, then, is where I netted out… and I do have to say, it may not be Paris, but the bread alone makes it French in spirit! Ooh la la!  😉

When I posted this pic to Flickr, this headline was true… then I finally got my migration to work by coming up with a workaround: I got my OLD hosting company to upgrade my storage on a prorated basis for the one week of hosting I had left, for the whopping cost of $2.88!!! Best couple of dollars I’ve spent in a looooong time! After that, the migration went smoothly. Then came switching the domain from the original host to the new one… not quite as simple as it should have been, since the only support on the new host is an AI, and as I’m quickly learning, if you don’t ask your questions exactly the right way, you don’t always get the answer you need. All that said, after a week of emotional ups and downs (and one minor meltdown when I thought I’d have to abandon this blog after 8 long years of dedication), I’m back up and running. I’m sure there will be some kinks (probably a lot of them), but those can be figured out. Anyway, I’m back to shopping, back to posting, and back to blogging! Woo-hoo, no more tears!!!

As you may/may not know about me, I grew up in the heart of NYC.  Until about 4 1/2 years ago, I lived in the NY suburbs.  All my life, I was surrounded by excellent bread of all types.   Hot pretzels from a street vendor… mmm delish! Then we moved here to central Florida, where it seems that there’s no such thing as “good bread”.  It’s all too doughy, with none of that crispness or chew.  We finally, FINALLY, found some good pizza… however, it’s quite a bit of a drive, which means that it’s too far for that “oh I don’t want to cook, let’s just order pizza” time (although they’re opening a branch right near us in October!!!).  There’s a German bakery about 45 minutes away, which is good for heavy dense bread, but baguettes and breads for sandwiches and just to grab a hunk? Not to be found…  So a pic like this is a bit of a peek into a food dream of mine — I even made it bright and sunny, like Florida lol and it of course includes coffee!…  Bon appetit!

There’s nothing quite like the feel of walking barefoot in the sand… or that “oops” feeling when the sand ends and you need to scramble over rocks or gravel or shells or splintering docks.  Sadly, I can no longer go barefoot IRL, my poor feet and ankles  just can’t take it any more, but here on the grid, I can go shoeless to my heart’s content!  So here I go a-wanderin’, along the beach, over the rocks, exploring wherever my feet take me!

You’ve heard of the proverbial “green thumb”?  I’m almost, but thankfully not quite, the antithesis.  As a city girl, born and bred, growing things was just something totally alien to me.  I don’t like bugs, I don’t like dirt, and I definitely don’t like worms… on top of that, I’m exceptionally prone to rashes, so although I do some weeding (which is an absolute must down here in Florida) and I “advise” on plants, I leave it to my husband to grow things that we actually eat.  That said, I’m a huge fan of homegrown veggies… they just have so much more flavor than what you can buy in the stores.  However, due to lack of skill (and probably patience as well), I frequent roadside stands etc of those who actually know what they’re doing!  I’m much better at shopping lol!

Thea has been a very pushy fae the last few weeks, taking over almost of my time IRL and Flickr.  Then again, Fantasy Faire is her most special time of year, so in a way I’ve been enjoying the equivalent of a short vacation, barely even logging in as human.  I’ve found it very refreshing, with that step back enabling me to cast a critical eye over my appearance, and make some (necessary?) tweaks here and there, in preparation for moving to my summer — i.e. tanned — skin.  That said, errands still need to be run and (most importantly!) shopping needs to be done.  Maybe I’ll see you in town!!!
