I’ve been so inspired by what some other bloggers are doing in terms of setting up entire room scenes that I decided to give it a try. Of course, since I’m primarily a fashion blogger, I still had to put myself in the middle of it all lol! I was lucky enough to have found the sim Northern Lights, which is open to all — including rezzing! — even the houses (at least for now, since the sim is ALMOST complete but not quite).  I was able to find a house that completely fit my purposes — the room was the right size, the right angle, and I was able to easily derender the existing fireplace in order to replace it with my own so that nothing in the set was there beforehand other than the walls and windows, which clearly showed a beautiful snowy landscape outside.  Creating this scene was fun to do, it was extremely challenging, and I’ll admit that it’s definitely no accident that I’m having a martini!!!  But all for a good cause, because ALL the room decor that I used is from the SL Christmas Expo 2018, which runs through Dec 9th — all of it with items donated by designers with 100% of the proceeds going to Relay for Life! — and is therefore part of the fight against cancer!

There’s so much going on here, let’s first talk about ME and what I’m wearing (here’s a close-up because I’m a little lost in that room!!!):

Well, not really, but a girl can dream, can’t she? I mean, there really is a great sense of accomplishment when you cross that last name off your list and you can say that all your holiday gift shopping is done, isn’t there? Especially if you feel you ace it all and got everyone the perfect gift? At this point, I’ll confess that I’m almost totally a 100%-online-shopper, no more dragging through stores, fighting those long lines and digging through piles trying to find the right size or the right color or the right toy, except that I do love crafts fairs and such for those handmade unusual items that are just so beautiful.  But this image so totally captures the essence of how it feels TO BE DONE, the exhaustion, the joy, the accomplishment…  If only I was truly done with my real life shopping lol, though I got a lot done this week, the boxes are all arriving, and I’m getting there! 😉

It’s interesting that somehow I seem to suddenly be on a more business-look related kick, but the outfits that are coming my way in this style are just sooooo exceptional in terms of style, texture, and fit that I simply have to try my hand at this look! And the fact that I’ve never attempted this kind of look before these last two shots just makes it that much more fun and exciting, exploring new options for accessories, poses, settings, etc.  Brings back lots of memories, too, from when I worked in midtown NYC and had to dress like this every single day… not so sure they’re GOOD memories, lol, but memories nonetheless! 😉

I know I often prattle on about the things I love about Second Life, but hey, it’s my blog and I can prattle about what I want, right? One of the things I love is that everything is right there with just a little searching… you want elegant? you got it. You want tropical? poof.  Spooky? easy. And if you want the grungy side of urban, well, you’ve got the Digital Underground. I just discovered this place which bills itself as a “hyper-detailed urban city themed sim”, and I have to say, it’s pretty amazing what they’ve already done and what they’re planning to do. Incredible details, lots of atmosphere, and just wonderful places to hang out and socialize or take pics (I’m in the record store!), especially when wearing a creation like this sexy little outfit (do note that the purple is from the light in the store, it’s NOT part of the outfit)! Perfect for going to the Underground! 😉

And wow, just like that, Halloween is over. All those wonderful costumes and props and accessories are done, till next year or til someone throws a costume party.  Although at times it did admittedly get to be somewhat overwhelming, it’s still really a little sad; I actually found going out clubbing and going to parties the last few nights to be incredibly fun, just to look around at everyone all dressed up in costume. It was just so amazing to see the range of creativity and imagination… some outfits would fit perfectly at the corporate Halloween party in real life; others could only exist here on the grid.  And now here we are on the other side, the thin veil between us and the other world has closed again, and it’s November, with Thanksgiving in the near future and here in SL, we have a whole new crop of events and wonderful new items as we head into the holiday season! Let the shopping begin! 😉

The power of fashion can be truly amazing — you slip on a dress, and it can be only what I can call transformative, not just to your look, but to your mood, to your whole being. I found this aptly named Glam Dress to have that power… I could feel the satin caress my skin, and although I admittedly spent an inordinate amount of time switching the color from the gold to the gorgeous green to the light blue to the bright blue and back again (the other 12 colors didn’t tempt me thankfully), once I slipped the shoes on that came with the dress (one less decision to make, yay) I felt EMPOWERED.  Sadly, only other Tonic wearers can share this since the dress is exclusively made in Tonic sizes, but the insanely gorgeous jewelry that sets it off perfectly — and has the most detailed and multi-option HUDs to change every single detail on both of the necklaces and on the earrings — is available to all.

An abandoned warehouse… what a marvelous photo background! The minute I saw it, I knew I had to work with it, but I’ll admit it took a bit for the pieces to fall together because (as usual) I started to overthink it. Then, with all the madness of the season, it finally hit me that EVERYONE needs to escape for some peace and quiet every once in a while, and then it was easy.  I picked just one corner of the background (there’s a shot of the full piece below) because I just absolutely adored the touch of the rat hiding underneath the tilted box (yes! it comes with the rat!!!) and I wanted to be sitting down so I could properly show off both this fun tattoo and these amazing fringed ankle boots (I’m a fringe fanatic)…

You really never know where inspiration will come from.  Wasn’t it just yesterday that I was bemoaning how Halloween was already becoming ho hum? Then wham! I see these awesome “Grim Graves” props from Circa and suddenly here I am, excited to be doing a whole new Halloween-themed post lol… So much more fun to be in the Halloween spirit … I don’t know what had come over me… maybe I ate a bad shroom lol… in any case, I absolutely ADORE this look I put together.  And I DO mean “put together” because it’s lot’s of assorted bits and pieces from JR Wolf Creations, a designer that is new to me because I never realized they made things in Tonic sizes! And look: even these absolutely ADORABLE little half-gloves come in Tonic!!!  Everything fits together so perfectly it looks like it was created as an outfit! Lots of madness going on over at The Mad Circus… it’s an event not to be missed! And don’t forget Syndicate Sunday for this amazing “Grim Grave”… that’s THIS Sunday… details below on everything… and watch out… you can see what the gravestone says… 😉
