One thing I find fascinating about blogging is the inspiration behind each picture. Sometimes, it’s the outfit; sometimes, it’s something I see when exploring a new sim; and sometimes — as in this case — it’s a pose.

As readers of this blog already know, I’ve been moving inworld from my long-time home in one family of sims to a whole new estate group. As in real life, moving provides new possibilities, but it’s still a pain to first pack up and then sort things out to where they should now belong. This pose captured my current Second Life so perfectly, I knew I had to build a shot around it. To dress the part, I chose the MOZ sweats to handle the physical aspects of moving (in a virtual sense of course), a high braid to keep my hair out of the way while working, flat sneakers for carrying boxes, no makeup and minimal jewelry.  The result: a perfect moment to capture this time in our SL lives! Definitely deserves a little champagne to celebrate!

Freckles… I’ve spent a lot of time (and quite a few lindens) over the past few months to find the right freckles for my fabulous new Elaine head from Tonic. The newest update of the head now comes pre-loaded with your choice of freckled or non-freckled skins from Lumae.  They’re beautiful skins, and I wore them prior to going with a mesh head. However, based on my current head shape (which I really like) those skins just make me look younger than I want to look.  One of the things I love about this head is how much easier it is to customize than some other heads I’ve tried.  My preference is to look mid-twenties. with both freckles AND moles.  I still don’t have exactly what I want but I’ve gotten pretty close, although it takes a LOT of layering. I’d love to find ONE applier that has all the options I’m looking for in just one click; hopefully I’ll find it or someone will create it soon. But for now, here’s how I’m creating my freckled look:

Yes, signs of spring are finally, FINALLY showing! Time to put away those heavy winter clothes, both in RL and in SL, and start putting on shorts and summery prints and fabrics. These separates from MOZ Designs really show off those Tonic curves… and I just adore the sheerness of the halter top with the artfully placed floral pattern to keep it all PG. *FYI, it also comes in solids.)  Blogging is such hard work, I think I’ll just rest here a while and breathe the beauty in… 😉

Finally feeling back in the SL groove! I used to think I had a lot of mail and catching up to do in RL after a vacation until I saw the backlog of messages and notices waiting for me in SL.  BOTH of my heads had new releases; I haven’t even opened my Tonic box yet because the other proved to be a very time-consuming exercise.  As any LAQ-user knows, LAQ not only updated their HUD but also “tweaked” the heads (without notification to users I might add); I was not happy to discover both a whole new mouth and to have retro-aged about 10 years (though I’d welcome that wholeheartedly in RL lol).  The final result is another new look for me, which you’ll see in a few days since she wasn’t ready for public use until quite a bit after midnight last night. Bottom line though is that this is probably the last time you’ll see this iteration of Neve, not that it really matters to anyone but me! At least in her farewell pic she’s rocking a new post-vacation tan in this wonderful little outfit that’s been on sale at Grafittiwear (even without the sale, it’s so cute and sexy it’s irresistible!)…

Where is spring? Maybe I’m more sensitive since I just returned from the Caribbbean, but I can’t wait for those April showers (especially when the sun is out!), not this chilly almost-winter we’re enduring here in the NE. Vacations are wonderful things; I’m tanned, well-rested, relaxed, and at least 5 pounds heavier lol! But coming home is wonderful too, and I was so happy to see that MOZ Designs had several new releases while I was gone; just couldn’t wait to put together an outfit! The ladder back top is amazing, especially with the sheer panel on the front. Paired with some denim shorts and the new western boots, an absolutely knock-out country look!!!  This outfit turned out to be perfect for my homecoming since due to some ongoing weird lag issues at our long-time SL home, we are moving, and for the first time in more than 9 years, it’s to a new estate group for a whole new type of setting. Moving is always a bit overwhelming, but Marina at GlenXi  Estates graciously made some customized changes for me so that the lot is PERFECT, and I’m excited about our new digs. Now I’m both dressed and ready to start digging up all my plantings and loading the truck!

This is my last post for a few weeks, as I head off to Florida to first help my mom with some car issues and then to board a cruise for some much-needed vacation. One of the things I love about cruises is how absolutely free you feel out there on sea days… just miles of ocean stretching away in all directions, totally cut off from ringing phones and email and texts (though we will have intermittent wifi, my husband and I will have to share a single connection).  A true vacation! I wanted my last pre-vacation post (and possibly my last image) to reflect that freedom, and I think I did, as I wish myself Bon Voyage!
