Wow, it truly is amazing how good just feeling “almost normal” is when you’ve been sick.  I’m certainly not at the top of my game — I’m still sniffly, I’m sneezing a lot, and since I have a tear in my meniscus, I’m hobbling around just a bit. But I feel goooood! No more aching all over, I still have a bit of a headache but it’s not that pounding weight, I’m not freezing more than usual, and I don’t have that extreme heaviness in all my limbs.  I feel bouncy and happy, and ready to go out dancing! Well, maybe not in real life, but here in SL, I’m ready to go, and even here, all I really wanted to do was sit in one of my comfy chairs and cuddle a kitty or two. And it’s leap year, so you know what that means!?! SHOPPING!!!!! Enjoy… you know I will! See you in the stores…

  • Outfit:  Charanzad Design – “Bonbons d’une Fille”.  Includes the dress, jacket, & boots in two textures — one with a sequin-looking shine (which is what I’m wearing) & one without, which to me is kind of latex-looking; the dress also has a third version, which is a transparent option.  I do have to say that I find this texture to be totally incredible… the way it sparkles & gleams in various windlights is amazing… I found myself watching it constantly while dancing… it’s mesmerizing but I NEVER found it overwhelming.  Built-in panties, too, which you really need since this is very very VERY short in back.  Includes a HUD that offers a ridiculous amount of colors (72!) which you can mix ‘n match if you prefer to the monochromatic look (you can mix ‘n match the textures too since this is NOT a onesie, all pieces are separate). Because of my blogging, I’m constantly moving things around my house(s) and properties here in SL (and yes, I have two).  As you may or may not know, I change everything up for the seasons, too.  But even without that, I’m a constant tinkerer, adding and subtracting decor and landscape items, editing the terrain, tweaking this and totally redoing that.  Admittedly, a lot of things are temporary… I set them up, do my blog, maybe keep them for a few days, and then put things back the way the way they were.  But every now and again — and I almost always talk about it in my blog because it’s a pretty special occurrence — I find something that just belongs, and wins if not a permanent place (because after 12 years here, I’ve learned that nothing is “permanent”) a long-term one.  This pergola set found it’s way into my “permanent collection” a while back, it absolutely “makes” the back of my property where I use it as a deck over the water.  And now this basket love seat has definitely earned its place on that deck.  The design is perfect for almost any outdoor space (though it also fits indoor), and I absolutely love the pattern and the colors in the fabrics.  Together, they are absolutely perfect for watching my whale frolic, the sunset (or sunrise for that matter)! I think after all this hard blogging work, I’ll be settling in for that for a while… go enjoy some shopping!

Love is in the Air

People get so caught up in Valentine’s Day, you’d think it was the only day for love.  I’ve got news for some of you… it’s not! Love is all around us, every day; sometimes, we just have to open our eyes to see it. It may not be as obvious as a big bouquet of roses or a fancy box of chocolates or a sparkly piece of jewelry; it might be an unasked for cup of tea when you’re feeling a little achy or having one of your chores done for you.  The simple things, that all too often go unnoticed (something I know that I’m definitely guilty of).  That said, I’m still a sucker for getting all dressed up here in SL (it’s nowhere near as much fun in RL, much more uncomfortable lol) and having the big romantic evening, dancing to songs from the rat pack era.  I just do always try to be mindful as to the differences between the reality and the appearance of love… and then thoroughly enjoy them both (especially where they overlap)!  Now go do some shopping, and be happy!

Somewhere Out There

It’s funny.  I don’t know how other bloggers work, but I’d say that about half the time I have an idea in my head before I go out to shoot.  I’ve already got a picture in my head, and then I try to capture that idea.  Other times, I have absolutely nothing or something very very fuzzy.  In those cases, I just pick a sim or two (sometimes it unfortunately becomes three or four) and wander, waiting for an AHA moment.  This was kind of a mix of those situations… I started with an idea in my head, but it fizzled out very quickly after the first few takes were just blah, so I grabbed a new landmark and hit the road.  Luckily it didn’t take long before a scene grabbed my imagination, and I suddenly heard the strains of Somewhere Out There playing in my head as this animation captured that feeling I often have of looking at a beautiful sky and wondering if one I love might be looking at the same sky at the same time.  It’s a beautiful sim; I’m glad my lack of imagination pushed me into taking the time to explore.  There’s still much more there to see, and I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of it in future posts.  In the meantime, happy shopping!

Not to toot my own horn, but I’m a pretty decent landscaper, though I’ll attribute it to my persistence, attention to detail, and willingness to spend hours working at it to get it just right, only to go back and change it all up with the season or when something awesome catches my eye.  But even as someone willing and able to move every little thing, I still greatly appreciate when a designer puts together an entire scene with a rezbox… a scene that I can tweak and modify to my heart’s content, of course, but one that is done so well that there isn’t anything I NEED to do to make it work.  THIS is one of those sets… shown exactly as it rezzes, right out of the box, with just a few cats thrown in (because what is any scene without at least one pet????)  Truly a great addition to any property!  Happy shopping!

Summer Breeze

By this time of year, as I look out the window at the bitter cold rain and reach for my winter coat, my thoughts inevitably turn to warmer climes. I’m just not built for cold weather.  Then again, I’m not built for hot weather either. I like a rather narrow band of temperate weather lol.  Though I feel that with cold, there’s not much you can do other than bundle up or go inside.  If there’s a breeze, and you can lie in the shade, heat can not only be tolerable it can be pleasurable… unless it’s excessive, then you’re back to going inside! In any case, when you’re in the cold, the heat seems wonderful, and vice versa.  A typical case of the grass being greener.  Me, I’m ready to do the great migration from the northeast to the southeast… my bones are cold and my joints are aching! Music is such magic. It’s amazing how a song you’ve heard millions of times can become so different depending on when or where you hear it or whom you hear it with.   And once that happens, every time you hear that song, it will conjure up such memories, such emotions, no matter where you are or what you’re doing.  Is it that the music adds magic to the moment, or that the moment — or the person you’re sharing it with — adds magic to the music?  It’s probably one of those chicken-and-egg questions.  All I know is that there are songs that are forever indelibly inked on my heart and mind.  Perhaps that’s why the DJ has such an almost mythical role in popular culture. Making Valentine’s into A Big Deal

Valentine’s is one of those holidays that people tend to get really worked up about.  When you’re single, it’s a huge HUGE thing emotionally that you don’t have one. When you’re in a “young” relationship, you tend to go overboard and make the big gestures, getting the huge gift or doing insane things.  I remember I once decided to handknit a sweater for a new boyfriend… and I didn’t even know how to knit lol!  Surprisingly it came out rather well, thanks to a very good friend of mine who was an expert knitter and took me under her wing.  When you’re in a long settled relationship, you barely acknowledge Valentine’s, if at all.  It’s a nice thought, but you realize that it really doesn’t mean anything when compared to making a life together and going through its trials and tribulations together.  I will admit, however, for a certain weakness when it comes to Valentine’s inworld… perhaps because this life is already relegated to such a small corner of my overall existence, special events and days that can actually be shared take on new meaning, because most if not all are generally spent with real world commitments.  So yes I’ve gone overboard with the big gesture… yet here I am, all alone on the day, but I’m really ok with it.  Valentine’s is a lovely thought, but it’s just not that big a deal unless you let it become one.  And if I am feeling a bit blue, well, we all know what the remedy to THAT is!  A new kitten and more SHOPPING!  Happy Valentine’s Day and happy shopping!
