Well, SL life and blogging goes on… My blog is up and working, with a few bugs to figure out (if I can, WP and web designing/managing is definitely outside of my wheelhouse); my beach lot — which I had set up and maintained basically for blogging beachy stuff, but rarely used) — is emptied and up for sale.  Found some abandoned land I like for Thea’s new home (I’m giving her my tier allowance so she can have a bigger place for HER fantasy blogging/SL life)… and of course there’s always SL date night and dancing, dancing, dancing!!! I wish, I wish, I wish… how many times do we all say that to ourselves?  There are countless fairy tales about it, all with the lesson behind it that you should be careful what you wish for.  I’m a fae, I should listen.  And still…

Well, right now at this very moment, I’m wishing that everything is resolved with this blog so that I can once again concentrate on living my fae dreams in my fantasy fae world… I’m starting to look for a new home (so happy! When I posted this pic to Flickr, this headline was true… then I finally got my migration to work by coming up with a workaround: I got my OLD hosting company to upgrade my storage on a prorated basis for the one week of hosting I had left, for the whopping cost of $2.88!!! Best couple of dollars I’ve spent in a looooong time! After that, the migration went smoothly. Then came switching the domain from the original host to the new one… not quite as simple as it should have been, since the only support on the new host is an AI, and as I’m quickly learning, if you don’t ask your questions exactly the right way, you don’t always get the answer you need. All that said, after a week of emotional ups and downs (and one minor meltdown when I thought I’d have to abandon this blog after 8 long years of dedication), I’m back up and running. I’m sure there will be some kinks (probably a lot of them), but those can be figured out. Anyway, I’m back to shopping, back to posting, and back to blogging! Woo-hoo, no more tears!!!

OK, I’ll admit it… I’m on a classic movie binge.  There are just so many with lines that are so iconic, they’ve made it into that little book of sayings we all use.  Hopefully, I’m not being quite as pretentious as Norma Desmond (the character in Sunset Boulevard), but I do find that close-ups are always harder than I remember.  At first, I’m always “this will be easy to pull together, it’s just the head” but (and it’s a BIG but) it actually takes just as much if not more prep.  You’re not showing an entire outfit, but SOMETHING always gets into the shot, so you still need to coordinate it all (except shoes… you can get away going barefoot lol).  And let’s face it… if you’re not shooting at home, you need to be dressed and not just running around in your skin.  A beautiful hairstyle may not work well on a closeup… in a case like this one, it can’t block the eye makeup or the earrings, and those hairs that sometimes pop through your ears?  Poses (which you need in order to stand still) create other issues… closeup they may not look natural, or the shoulder looks non-human, or the jewelry goes into your neck or shoulder.  And then there are the eyes… I’d be lost without my eye poser, sitting there waiting for the combination of facial anim and eye position to happen.  I guess if I did it more often, I’d be better at it.  I look at other bloggers/photographers who do head shots all the time, and I marvel at their talent, their ability to capture a moment.  But for me, it’s just part of my “portfolio” and what keeps blogging interesting and fun! I will say that it took a while, but in the end I was definitely ready for my closeup!  😉

So I’m really sorry (and a bit ashamed) to admit that I seem to have gotten lazy when it comes to some parts of my blogging. I don’t have automatic backups (too costly), and after my one problem a long long time ago, I just drifted away from always putting a copy of my blog post text into a Word document. And today, I’m paying the price for that, because my blog post from the 18th — where I introduced Crichton — is gone.  Just gone. Error message 404!  So I had to stop everything in the midst of doing THIS post, and go back to try to recreate it as best I could — at least the credits, I didn’t even try to redo the introduction because I have no idea what was on my mind lol —  because it’s simply not fair to my sponsors that the post advertising their products has just gone poof.   Now that it’s all done and posted, Crichton and I are going to enjoy the rest of this beautiful day, and relax and forget about my oversight and the additional work it caused!  And yes, it’s a good lesson learned, but wow, is it ever frustrating! 😉

I’ve been so happy, busily landscaping and setting up decor for both my new primary home and my island hideaway escape. My hideaway escape has undergone radical change since I first opened it. First off, I’m no longer alone… I’m now part of a collective or compound of sorts; incredible fun! Secondly, I knew that a 512 lot would never suffice… not only did I add another 512 for myself, but Crichton took an adjoining 1024, so I’ve had plenty to play with.  A prime position facing one of my nearest neighbors (NOT part of the collective lol!) is held by this awesome beach scene… I loved it so much I had it for blogging when the island was still just a growing thought… And now it’s all done and I get to lay in the sand, watch the horizon, and wonder why it’s all so blue… how absolutely delicious! 😉

Many years ago, I lived on a huge series of interconnected sims with lots of open sailable water.  In addition to having wonderful views of beautifully landscaped islands across the way, one of my greatest joys was to hop in a boat after a stressful day at work in RL, and cruise the waterways… looking at what other people had done with their property, marveling at the creativity (or on occasion, the lack thereof), imagining the breeze in our hair, and the feel of the spray on our skin. Then the sim owner split the sims into a checkerboard “for greater privacy”, boating was lost, and ever since it’s been one of those things we’ve talked about finding a way to do, but just never have. Until now.  As I said a few posts back, I recently purchased a tiny oasis connected to a sailable sea, and have been busy boat shopping whenever I can. It’s a lot harder than you think, especially when you’re dealing with very limited prims and space (some of these boats have more land impact than my lot can hold with nothing else on it lol!).  And because they’re SOOOO expensive, I do want to be sure that we get the best one for our needs… which means it not only looks good and is fun to drive, but is loaded with anims that make me look good too! We’ve narrowed it down to 4 choices, and I’m really pressing to make a decision.  Maybe it’s this one? Or this?  Or wait…  I think THIS is the one!!!!  😉

If you’re not a Game of Thrones fan, then you may not get the title of this post, but if you are, then you understand… completely!  I don’t know about you, but while I’m so excited that the next season of Game of Thrones will start soon — April 14th — I’m also kind of sad, because it’s the final season.  That’s the problem with a wonderful miniseries, or a wonderful book… at some point, they come to an end, and you are left to imagine what comes next.  The good news?
