I don’t know how patient a person you are, but patience is definitely NOT my long suit. I’ve worked on it for years, and I’ve definitely improved over time, but I’ll admit that I still like immediate gratification.  Sadly I’ve done a lot of waiting over the last few weeks… some of it really emotional and filled with worry and fear, some of it just long and boring, and some of it — like waiting for FlickR maintenance to be complete — just purely frustrating. But if it’s one thing I’ve learned is that you can’t avoid waiting, it’s just part of life.  Not only that, the payoff for waiting is often worth it… and in this last case, hopefully the ongoing and increasingly annoying problems with FlickR have been resolved. I guess we’ll all find out together.  I WILL say that my photostream is loading much quicker than before, but whether that’s temporary or permanent, well, time will tell. I just hope I didn’t jinx it by putting it in print lol!  😉

Things are definitely settling down; I was able to bring my hubbie home from the hospital on Wednesday.  It’s hard to believe what they can do medically today… 5 days after open heart surgery, and he’s home. Of course, that now makes ME the primary caregiver, which is a bit stressful when you’re dealing with a strong-willed stubborn personality at the best of times, let alone when they’re feeling cooped up, restricted, and in pain. But at least I’m done with the commute and sitting in a hospital; I’m back at home with my dog (who is THRILLED to have us home) and my cats and my computer, and to top it off, my son has come home to help out for a few days. I can even go in to work for a few hours without worrying (though I’m giving myself one more day)!! I have such a back-up of incredibly wonderful items to blog; my sponsors have been exceptionally understanding about my situation and released me temporarily from my obligations, but being me, I still want to try to meet as many as I can without shirking on my caregiver duties or over-stressing myself to the point where I can’t deal with my patient calmly and without blowing my stack (unless the situation really calls for it, which it might!)… After being cooped up for so long in a hospital — and driving back and forth in the rain, since that was it was doing here for days and days — I thought a relaxing spring picnic was definitely in order, since when you picnic, everything feels right in the world!  I’ve got the drinks… now where’s the beef!  😉

So I’m really sorry (and a bit ashamed) to admit that I seem to have gotten lazy when it comes to some parts of my blogging. I don’t have automatic backups (too costly), and after my one problem a long long time ago, I just drifted away from always putting a copy of my blog post text into a Word document. And today, I’m paying the price for that, because my blog post from the 18th — where I introduced Crichton — is gone.  Just gone. Error message 404!  So I had to stop everything in the midst of doing THIS post, and go back to try to recreate it as best I could — at least the credits, I didn’t even try to redo the introduction because I have no idea what was on my mind lol —  because it’s simply not fair to my sponsors that the post advertising their products has just gone poof.   Now that it’s all done and posted, Crichton and I are going to enjoy the rest of this beautiful day, and relax and forget about my oversight and the additional work it caused!  And yes, it’s a good lesson learned, but wow, is it ever frustrating! 😉

I never would have thought it, but shooting men by themselves is quite different than shooting women. Maybe it’s the angles, or because the lighting needs to be different, or the attitude, but I found this first photo shoot with Crichton — who you’ll be seeing quite a bit of in this blog going forward since he’s my new male alt — to be quite challenging in ways that I totally didn’t expect.  I’m not quite ready to unveil him totally yet… still tweaking and developing since he’s less than a week old.  But I CAN tell you this… he’s looking mmm mmm good!  And for that, I really REALLY need to thank my sponsors who have totally accepted him as part of my blogging family and made it so much easier for me to get him up and running, so to speak.  I’ve made sure that this first post features them all in some fashion, with much more to come in the future!  Next post will be a real introduction of the man behind the hat, I promise!!!  😉

I love dressing up and going formal; maybe it’s more of the Barbie principle, but I always feel like a princess or a celebrity or, at the very least, like I’m celebrating a special occasion. I love it in real life too, but frankly it’s not as affordable, or comfortable, and I just don’t look anywhere near as good lol!  The gown is, of course, the crucial starting point, but to show it — and you — off to fullest effect, you need to pay equal attention to all the little details… which hair is best for THAT dress, which skin, what eye shadow (not too much, not too little), what lipstick, and what jewelry.  I see my job as a blogger is to do all that for you, to experiment and create the best look that I can, and then tell you where to find all the pieces so that you can recreate what you like.  The good news is that none of us has to worry about shoes being too high to walk in or being comfortable lol!!!  😉

So I’m one of those bloggers who tries very hard not to just take a “fashion model” shot against a pretty background.  Sometimes those are admittedly phenomenal shots, but they’re just not the style that I’ve been working to develop.  On the other hand, I find that gowns are extremely difficult to capture in a natural type setting since many of the venues where you’d expect to find gorgeous gowns are just drowning in lag and therefore impossible for high resolution photo shoots.  So for this fashion shoot at least I decided to do what Vogue would do… shoot in an exotic locale that manages to capture the essence of the gown, which in this case is a bit more untamed and risque both for this designer and for this model! If only I could REALLY do this on location!!!! 😉

Today is my 11th Anniversary in Second Life. Yup, 11 years, in SL with the same guy, and I know for a fact that’s a bit unusual, a rare “rose” we’ve cultivated.  During that time, we’ve helped each other through a lot of real life difficulties; we’ve both lost jobs, lost our dads, had all kinds of personal struggles, and I have to say, having someone who thoroughly understands and supports you — but is totally outside your day-to-day life with no real world connection — can do more for your mental well-being than you might realize.  Like any relationship, though, it’s not always easy.  These days our time together is extremely limited… the “thorns” if you will… though maybe it’s also why we’re still so thrilled to find time to be together, who knows?  All I know is that time seems to go both so fast and so slow… there’s never enough of it and yet sometimes I feel like all I do is wait lol!  Ahhh the paradox of time… Though thinking about time is why I purposely chose this particular gown for our anniversary celebration… in a strange way, it seems to capture the essence of time, it just has that period glamour about it, that special allure… 😉
