I don’t understand why everyone is always so anxious to move onto the next thing. It happened with Halloween. And now it’s starting to happen with the holidays. I’m beginning to see holiday items and winter and snow and all that already — SNOW! I mean, c’mon folks, I know it’s coming, but can’t we just sit a bit and enjoy this last little bit of autumn sunshine and color before we rush off into the bitter cold of winter? I mean, sure, snow and winter is beautiful here on the grid. My whole estate turns on winter on Dec 1st, and I’ll be bagging all the autumn leaves till next year, and happily pulling out all the holiday decor.  And it’s not like my lips actually get all chapped and I feel my bones freezing like in RL. But let’s not rush things, shall we? Let’s just take another week or two to sit in the autumn sunshine (when it’s there), bravely facing that bite in the air (it’s definitely more than a nip this year), and THEN move into winter.  Hmmm, the more I think about it, it’s beginning to feel like winter already… maybe I’m actually starting to fall behind the times? Well, I’ll think about that as I sip my coffee and enjoy this little stretch of milder weather that we have today…  In the meantime, happy shopping!

An Autumn Day

It’s funny when you stop to think about it.  Here on the grid I’ve landscaped my property with lots of fallen autumn leaves, piles and piles of them, and I’m drawn to all these poses with even more leaves swirling around. Yet in real life, whereas they’re beautiful to look at (especially through a window lol), we all hate them on our own property and spend hours raking them into piles, bagging them, and just getting rid of them.  What a backbreaking chore! But they are indisputably the beauty of a season that honestly doesn’t have much more to recommend it at this point from a “nature” point of view (I’ll stand by my culinary loves of the season!!!)… it’s just really really cold outside where I live, it gets dark super-early, and I for one am just not very happy with the whole thing at all lol.  But I do love it here in SL where it’s only the beauty and none of the “other stuff” that goes along with it.  But whether it’s in SL or in RL, one thing is definite… fall is short, and winter is coming. But until it’s here, happy fall shopping!

Peaceful Easy Feeling

I just love love LOVE this pair of outfits. They work so well together, but then they also work so well on their own.  It’s pretty rare I think in a paired set that the man’s outfit works as well as the woman’s does… sometimes it does tend to come off as more of a companion piece than an awesome outfit in its own right.  With Hans and Freya, they are equally fabulous as standalone looks, but when together?!? Look out!  Absolutely awesome!!!  The pattern itself is very unisex, all original textures, with a wonderful assortment of colors. My personal favorite is the green because it really enhances my eyes,  and the blue just makes my Durzle’s eyes really pop… sighs, just knocks me out… but if you look at the full body shots below, you can see that other colors look great too. But if the pattern/colors are unisex, the cut and style are definitely NOT.  Although my sweater is comfy and relaxed looking, the plunging neckline and little miniskirt are VERY feminine.  And Durzle’s pushed-up sleeves and tight-but-not-too-skinny jeans advertise all his masculine charms.  Definitely a love story… one that gives me that peaceful, easy feeling…

I’ve been waxing on about the beauty of fall for several blogs now.  And while it is definitely beautiful, it is also downright chilly.  And now that daylight savings time has ended, it gets so dark so early, I have to carry a flashlight when I walk the dog on her early evening walk.  On top of all that, I’m suddenly feeling sick and pretty miserable.  I do tend to always get a bad cold at this time of year, so I’m hoping that’s all it is. Of course, the media doesn’t help with all their dire warnings of the flu. Hot and Spicy… Cider

Although things are getting less defined all the time due to “scientific advancements,” every season definitely has its culinary pleasures. My two fall favorites are hot apple cider and pomegranates.  We’re just at the beginning of pomegranate season (bought my first one this weekend!), but at least up here in the increasingly cold and chilly northeastern US, I’ve been happily mulling some hot apple cider for weeks.  I’m a “free-hander”… I measure out the cider by filling up the cup I’m going to drink it in, but then I just pour in the mulling spice until I think there’s enough (which means I’m probably using way too much lol).  Bring to a simmer, pour through a strainer, maybe add a cinnamon stick, and you’re done.  There really is nothing quite like it… hot, spicy, sweet, and tart all at the same time.  Refreshing and warming, soothing and just absolutely delicious.  It’s the very essence of fall, in a cup.  And like fall, it’s really only for a short time, before it’s replaced by the next batch of seasonal goodies… Until then, though, I’ll need to make sure I’m stocked up on those mulling spices so that I can stay warm and satisfied… Happy shopping!

And time marches on… It’s soooo cold outside, the ground is completely covered by wet, fallen leaves.  I finally did the “change-over”, putting away all the warm-weather clothes and pulling out all the cold-weather ones. One thing I’ll say about the change of seasons, it really brings home the inexorable march of time, how things continually change, but somehow stay the same. Thankfully Halloween is done (though lots of chocolate still remains, though probably not for long lol); Thanksgiving is on the near horizon (note to self: need to order that turkey!). The BIG holidays not far beyond, then the new year, and so on, and so on…  Life goes on, sometimes tedious and boring, sometimes fresh and exciting, sometimes heart-wrenching and depressing, others glorious and uplifting. That’s life! There are times it’s hard to have hope, not just personally but for the world at large, but I need to believe that things will improve… A little heavy, yes, for a Saturday morning in a little Second Life fashion blog, but hey, what can you do? Well it’s been a rough month for me personally (a rough few months actually), so I’ll admit that I had some difficulty getting into the spirit of Halloween this year.  So even though today is THE day, I’m avoiding horror and opting for high fashion instead, going with a look that just made me go “ooooh” when I first saw it and “aaaah” when I tried it on. It’s definitely not my normal look; in fact, I even had to adjust my body to get the boa to fit properly, but wow I think it was worth it!  And what better place to strut my little dolled-up look than on the streets of Paris? Wishes. There are so many sayings and so many songs about wishes.  Wishing on a star, wishing and hoping, wishing your life away, blowing out the candles and making a wish, and on and on. And I’ve admittedly made my share of wishes, but the fact is, I honestly believe that for the most part (and yes, you’ll notice I said “for the most part”) you make your own luck.  But I’m mixing things up, because LUCK and WISHES are two totally different things. Some people are just plain lucky; others seem to have little black clouds that follow them everywhere. Karma? Who knows. Maybe I’m just mixing things up even more into one big stew. And then SL decided to act like, well, like SL.  It’s hard to blog when things don’t rez, when skin and makeup don’t apply, when your camera doesn’t function correctly.  FlickR got into the act too with an image not uploading, comments not posting, and one award group that I use a lot just not admitting images to the next level.  That’s when you start questioning if you’re having fun yet lol.  And I couldn’t even birth new kitties or go shopping to make myself feel better, lol, what’s a girl to do? (Seriously, what’s the answer? I could use one, other than go back to real life, which is what I did lol!)  Thankfully, both issues were relatively short-lived, and everything seems back to “normal” (whatever that is).  Now I’m just another photographer-at-work, a bit frantic because we’re approaching end-of-month and I’m wondering how I’m ever going to get it all done lol! And of course on top of all that, it’s Halloween!!!! Definitely trick or treat time! Happy shopping!
