When you live in a city, being able to get an UBER is one of those things you take for granted. When you’re in the suburbs, you accept that it’s a bit more complicated… fewer drivers mean you may have to wait quite a bit longer and so on, but it’s still there. But as we just found out this weekend, when you hit the real rural communities, getting around late at night without pre-made arrangements can be downright tricky. As it was later explained to me — after my son was forced instead to use what he called “the shoelace express” and walked home alone several miles, in the dark, in the rain, along a dirt road using his iPhone as a flashlight, praying that the 5% left of his battery would hold up and that the bear we’d heard about was just a story to scare out-of-towners, trying to hitch a ride but failing, in dress shoes no less — “oh, yeah, we’ve got an Uber… but around here, it’s called Carl…”  (see, Mara and Eddie, I told you I’d use it lol!!!)

I’m off to a family wedding in RL this week… don’t you just love it when romance is in the air? Although not in a wedding vein, I thought this was just such a lovely little romantic look… modern, yet somehow retro at the same time. The dress is short and sassy, with enough skin to tease the imagination but without really showing anything. And it includes matching heels! Paired with the soft tresses, layered braids and floral touches of this hair by TRUTH, it just whispers “Romance me” in soft seductive tones… I can’t decide if I hear a soft sigh in the background or the strains of a romantic ballad… hmmm, why choose? 😉

7 Deadly S[k]ins has been my go-to skin designer for some time now; it’s extremely rare that I wear a skin by anybody else.  However, although I own two LAQ heads, this is the first time I’ve worn a 7 skin that was actually made specifically for Neve, one of my two heads (the LAQ-designed skins work on all LAQ heads, and my Tonic heads too, and are ALWAYS worth trying). Therefore, I decided to also wear the shape, straight out of the box for the purposes of this post, although I would admittedly “fluff her up” for real use inworld, since her body is a bit too scrawny for this curvy gal’s taste! Either way, the Junia head shape is GORGEOUS, and is of course, fully mod; the skin packs come with 8 tones — 8!!!!, with brows and without — and all at 50% off.  If you have a Tonic body, be sure to note that the tempting lingerie set, premiering today at the MBA Fair.  Both are definitely worth a demo, and a closer look… 😉

My long-time partner has a very busy life in the real world but he’s definitely worth waiting for, so I was looking for someTHING (as opposed to someONE else) to occupy my time. It really is amazing how you can be in Second Life for seemingly forever (11+ years for me!), and then you stumble upon something so simple you can’t believe you never knew about it before.  Today’s example (and believe me, it’s only the latest), is Teleport History… I just never knew it was there. I’d forgotten to take a landmark after my photo shoot, and was bemoaning the fact when I relogged back on later in the day to get slurls, etc. for this post. I’m one of those people who love Etymology, the origin of words.  I find it fascinating how words and phrases make it into our daily lexicon.  For instance, did you ever wonder where the term “Happy Hour” came from? It sprang from the mind of some marketing guru, and spread like wildfire throughout our society.  It’s one of those terms that really grates when you think about it… who wants to be happy for just an hour? and is happiness really based on discounted food and drink? Or, as I believe, are there different levels of happiness, and happiness itself is a transient state?  Well, enough philosophizing… all I know is that this flirty little dress in this beautiful silk pattern feels like a summer breeze and always makes me happy, even more so when my partner commented on date night how exceptionally pretty it was on me.  Not to mention, it’s Happy Hour somewhere on the grid and in RL… so let’s start getting happy!

I’m heading off to the beach today in RL, and all I can say is that it takes an awful lot more work than on the grid.  Inworld there’s no driving, no traffic, no lotions, no red flags… all it takes for a perfect time at the beach is a sensational bikini, sunglasses, some kind of floatie, flip flops, and a hat… then a quick TP to find my perfect spot in the sun!  Sighs… if only it was this easy in RL… and if only I looked this good!
