Stretches languorously… mmm who am I today?  That’s one of the things that I love so incredibly much about fantasy fashion… unlike “human” dressing where if you’re lucky you get a “feeling” or what I like to think of as an “attitude” when you put on the clothes, with quality fantasy fashion (any by “fashion” I mean more than JUST the clothes but also all the accessories that heighten and deepen your look)  you BECOME someone new… it’s almost like creating a character in a book.  As the puzzle pieces fit together to create a wholly unique image, backstories emerge, and life’s parameters and goals and desires come right along with it.  Well, you may question that or even scoff, but maybe that’s why I blog… I love effectively giving birth to a new fae… she may be related to others who came before and who will come after…  but the details will always be hers and hers alone.   I do love roleplay, even though my roles tend to be short ones lol!!!

Ahhh spring!  It’s when life resurrects itself, bursting forth with new energy.  That’s not always easy to do, so sometimes Mother Nature asks the light fae — like me! — to help spread new life, providing some much needed warmth and energy to stimulate new growth.  Winter has its beauty, but nothing can compare to the riotous beauty of spring in all its colors!  I’m the Green Goddess of Spring! I’ve been sitting here on my cloud, wishing on a star (whose power I’ve now captured in my orb!) to be able to get back inworld.  My poor human has been so sick that inworld time has been severely limited but finally, FINALLY!!!, I made it in for just a few hours of fae time (not to mention fae shopping lol)…  And I have accomplished so much with my limited time, it’s sooooo very good to be back!  Beats my wings with joy, and runs off to see what the new year has already brung!

With all the turmoil and hate in the world, not to mention the never-ending barrage of commercialization, it can be hard to find (and hold onto) that joyous and inclusive feeling of the holidays.  And don’t get me wrong… I LOVE all the shopping and the beautiful holiday and wintry sims to explore… it’s more in the real world, that sometimes tends to seep even into our idealized fantasy world.  That spirit of the holidays just gets lost all too often behind all the trappings and yes, even the politics.  So I’m out there trying to shine my tiny little light in the darkness, helping to find that elusive spirit of the holidays, wherever it may be…

This will be my last fantasy post this year… throws a huge handful of fairy dust, wishing you the best of the holidays and a happy transition to the new year!!!

I’m not quite sure why, but I have the strangest lyrics running through my head whenever I look at this pic… that moment in The Wizard of Oz when the gates to the Emerald City finally open to admit Dorothy and friends.  It’s all about stepping from the dark into the light.  Of course, in the song it’s meant to be more figurative whereas this is a much more literal interpretation, but for whatever reason this image is triggering that music in my fae brain… at least it’s happy music!!!  And now I’m off to see all the wonders of the royal court, and enmesh myself in the final days of Enchantment… I might even get the chance to bow to royalty!!! I have been locked up in my treehouse, whilst my human had a houseful of weeklong guests celebrating some strange holiday that involves a great deal of cooking and eating and a seemingly even greater amount of cleaning up.  I have finally managed to make it to the courtyard where I was hoping to make a full escape, but it seems that I’ve been caught!  At least I’ve managed to get one post out, but sadly so so late… I don’t understand these holidays and why they are so disruptive to my lovely little lifestyle… sighs… if only my magic worked on my human, but she is definitely the one in control.  All I know is that I definitely need some fae time!!!

The Magic of Armor

Armor is rather critical to any kind of warrior, whether it’s modern day (think Kevlar) or medieval or pure fantasy or even mental, and it constantly amazes me the creative ways that different designers attack it (sorry, it’s late and I get a bit punny)…This is a completely different take on armor than my last post… I feel that both are exceptional & are designed beautifully for different uses.  IMHO, the key to good armor is finding the right balance between protection and mobility.  Different styles of armor are needed for different uses and situations.  There are so many stories about knights of yore toppling over and then, because of the weight of their armor, being unable to rise and defend themselves.  But just because I’m not in a battle, it doesn’t mean that my body doesn’t need any protection out alone in this sometimes harsh world.  This beautifully articulated set is designed to protect the legs and the ribs, which is all I need for my daily trips into the forest with my trusty axe…  As I like to think of it, it’s lightweight but heavy duty where it counts!!!  (It’s also quite helpful in those crowded weekend shopping venues where folks are pushing and shoving to get at the latest deals lol)…  Speaking of which, it’s weekend, and it’s time to start doing all those things that manage to escape getting done during the week…  Happy weekend!!!
