I’ve been lucky… I’ve been to Greece, but somehow I’ve never made it to Santorini.  And it’s such an iconic place… when I think of Greece, the image in my mind is one of white buildings, those blue accents on the roofs and doors, and that hot hot white light, some of which I’ve never seen.  And the fact is the way the world is going, I probably never will.  From what I’ve read, Santorini has been overrun with tourists BECAUSE it’s the quintessential Greece… and now all those earthquakes… sighs… well, the good news is that I can wander through the SL version of this magical island without the expense, the crowds, or even having to leave my chair! If only we could TP in RL!!!!

Autumn Dreams

Lying under a tree, listening to tunes on a refreshing fall day, enjoying the colorful beauty all around me… definitely an “autumn dream”.  My real life autumn day is definitely NOT going that way… first off, jury duty (ugh, but it was short and sweet, they even entertained those of us waiting in the juror pool, sans all electronic devices, with dad jokes (some were actually good lol).  Then driving home on backroads through pre-hurricane madness (forget the highway, not even moving), only to see the news updates.  Bottom line, Milton is heading directly to my house (it looks like we are smack dab in the middle).  Thankfully, we’re inland (dead center of the state) but still, power outages are highly likely, wind damage a definitely possibility.  Not much we can do but hunker down for the duration.  I will be letting all my sponsors know that my ability to blog may be severely impacted (AND I’m leaving for a vacay in 2 weeks).  Needless to say, lots of stress!  Takes a deep breath, thinks of that tree and my headphones, and tries to relax…

Sometimes you just need a moment to breathe… Considering I no longer have an ultra-demanding job, it’s amazing how stressed I can get.  My 5+ year-old computer has been struggling, not just with SL (BUGSPLAT!) but freezing even with everyday tasks… freezing to the point of having to unplug it, even the power button not working.  We’re going on a 3-week-long vacation in October, and with 3 pets at home, making arrangements for their in-home care has been a huge issue.  And don’t even let me get started with all the health issues that have been cropping up.  Hopefully today marks the beginning of the end for all that.  Computer is ordered.  New monitor is ordered.  Pet care is arranged.  Doctors have been/are being seen.  And I just downloaded a new updated version of Firestorm, so hopefully all that crashing after TPing home will be done.  Breathes deep and appreciates the beauty around me… Enjoy!

Second Life has been a bear of late… I have to say that while I absolutely LOVE the crispness and the colors and the reflections and so much that’s part of PBR, I’m experiencing so many challenges with lighting and those same reflections.  On top of that, I’m constantly crashing, which has created exceptionally frustrating blogging issues… Granted, my computer is over 5 years old at this point, and it was definitely nowhere the best available when I bought it (I tend to get bottom of the midrange), so it’s looking like I’m entering the market for a new one.  That’s both the good news and the bad news!  In the meantime, though, I’ll muddle through and concentrate on learning how to speed up my photoshoot process…  If anyone has any tips on PBR in Firestorm, please share!!! OK, this is my first photoshoot using the new Firestorm with PBR.  I ran into quite a few lighting issues, some of which I resolved during the shoot, some of which I resolved in edit, and most of which I’m just watching videos about to learn how more knowledgeable photographers are adjusting the settings.  That said, I absolutely love the dress and am pretty happy with the shot, despite the imperfections which are glaring to me personally but probably insignificant (if even noticeable) to everyone else.  And, after all, the lighting etc is not the purpose behind the pic, the whole point of blogging is just to show the awesomeness of the dress!  So, on that note, I’m going with the shot, then sitting down to watch more videos and play with lighting BEFORE my next photoshoot.  In the meantime, TGIF and happy shopping!

And life goes on, though trapped at home like I am, definitely not a lot to report.  At least I’ve healed to the point where I can sit at the computer for a few more hours a day without having my foot and leg blow up to ridiculous proportions.  So I’m left to dream about all the things I could be doing and experiencing… and that is what SL is all about!!! I’ve always loved the anticipation of an exciting night out, all the prep and the little touches… the bit of doubt mixing with all the possibilities of what’s to come.  Scent has always been a part of that…  subtle but distinct, teasing those pheromones!  Not too much, not too little… just like my outfit!  Mmmmm, yes, that smells like it will be a night to remember!
