So I’ve now been in Florida for two weeks, and I have to say that I’ve been cold most of that time. Yes, I know it’s still much MUCH warmer than it’s been back in NY, and I used to get aggravated when family in Florida would moan about the chill when it was still 40 degrees warmer than I was experiencing, but still… I’ve only been to the pool once, and I wear long pants a lot. But although I haven’t left home yet (waiting for yet another delivery lol), it looks like a killer day, with plenty of bright sunshine. Today’s post is definitely a killer, too, filled with all kinds of goodies any avatar could just die for! Not quite the Hogwart’s Express

This may very well be my last blog for a few weeks. I leave NY for FL a week from today, and am obviously rather crazed. The backup desk I’m using for my computer leaves tomorrow (sold!), so I won’t have anywhere to work and it’s really getting down to crunch time. If I can get it together, I might do a post, but the odds are that my next post will be once I have internet service set up in my new home. It’s exciting, it’s scary, and it’s sad, all at the same time. Part of me wishes all I was doing was traveling to some special gathering, as I envision happening in this pic, but it is instead a complete disruption of my life, the closing of one very long chapter and the opening of another. Introducing Chelsea

LOGO celebrates their 15 year anniversary with a big event starting on October 23 that will run 15 days until midnight SLT on November 6th. Founder Maximillion Grant and his team will be celebrating with the release of two new heads, Chelsea (which I’m wearing here) and Chase (a male head) which will be FREE during the event. These new exclusive heads have been reworked from the ground up to fully support pre-mesh skins and makeup via Bakes on Mesh, which means that most of your old skins should fit perfectly. Blue Moon

Well our moving is rapidly moving into a near reality. We put our house on the market late Monday morning; by last night we had 3 offers plus “one on the way.” And we still have 6 weekend showings to go (a number that is going up even as I type). Then the bidding war begins. My mind is spinning so much, I couldn’t fall asleep last night, and was up almost the whole time. Sooo happy I could escape here and there for a bit inworld, my mind focused instead on putting together a special look, finding the right pose, the right setting, doing the shoot, editing the shot, and then of course writing this blog. But I can already see how it will be getting tougher as time goes on and things like my desk disappear. But oh, once we’ve moved and settled in? I for one will NOT be sad to miss the brutal winter some are predicting for this year. I’ll enjoy it inworld, thank you very much lol! Well, time to straighten up the house to perfection, one more time!

Wow, talk about difficult, complicated posts. In a lot of ways, fashion blogging is simple… you generally have one or two items that you’re featuring, and the rest helps create the look and/or the scene. But blogging a building? Much more complicated, because you want to look beyond the “box” itself, and try to show the spirit by creating one possible look. And when creating that scene starts involving home decor and even fashion to make it all real, well, then it really becomes a challenge. I really REALLY wanted to do my best here, because everything involved in this post is truly exceptional. I truly hope I’ve done it all justice, because I honestly love the build and absolutely everything I’ve placed in it. The possibilities are endless; I hope that my efforts have successfully illustrated just one…

The scene:

Head, Skin, Makeup: LOGO – Willow. I’ve always felt that Willow has the most delicate, perfect features, so I naturally went to her to create my pseudo-Japanese look. I also want to reiterate that LOGO offers what I consider to be the most fabulous head system I’ve found (& I’ve tried a lot of them lol). I created my own makeup look by layering just a little bit of what’s available in that system. Demo available.

I’m not a morning person. I never have been, and I’ve accepted that I never will be. Since I no longer work a regular day job, I’m one of those night owls who generally stay up till 1A or 2A without issue, and the idea of getting up bright and early when I don’t have to makes me shudder. Of course, there are plenty of occasions when I still have to do it because of appointments, etc., and certainly whenever we travel (though I’ll admit that I have been known to just stay up all night rather than go to bed early so I can get up early lol). And I will say that there’s a certain beauty to the early morning… the air is fresh, the colors in the sky can be breathtaking, and there’s a certain stillness when you’re getting up with the birds. I wanted to capture some of that here, since getting out early on the water is a perfect way to escape the kind of heat we’re enduring at the moment… if only I had a boat in real life!!! Oh well, it’s definitely not a sailor’s life for me, just another SL fantasy! Lots of goodies featured here though… happy shopping!

It’s end of month again, and although I’m now making it out of the house a bit more, I still haven’t made it anywhere fun. As the thunderstorms start rolling through again, here I am, still dreaming of making it to the beach. Of course, it’s never quite as satisfying, because IRL I definitely don’t have this kind of beach body! But a girl can dream, especially as the rain pours down in buckets, having that perfect body doesn’t seem much further away than sunny days by the sea…

No, everything is definitely NOT right in the world, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy moments of pure bliss. A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes

One of the many things I love about Second Life is the ability to so easily slip into different looks, different attitudes, different everything. Most of us tend to stay with one style, but every once in a while you feel transported. Something about this outfit, this look, made me feel like Cinderella. It’s not a “ballgown style” formal look, and there aren’t any glass shoes or a prince in sight. I think it was more the way the chiffon panels moved when i moved, swirling softly through the air… made me feel “floaty” (if that’s not a word, I’m coining it right now lol). And like Cinderella, I find myself dreaming… I just need to keep faith that at least some of my dreams will come true…

The Avatar and the Artist

Do you have artistic talent? I’m a bit of a frustrated artist myself… frustrated because I long to draw, to paint, to sketch, but I lack talent. I’ll admit that I’m decent at copying things in a kind of simplistic hokey way. I gained fame at my kids’ elementary school for what I did every morning on their lunch bags, sketching out either the changing daily landscape out the window, or one of our pets, or (my favorite) a cartoon character from one of the plates or cups or what-have-you that was laying around handy to be my “model.” Not quite the earth-shattering talent, but hey, you work with what you got, lol. In these days of stay-at-home with their long, long, LONG hours, I’ve been tempted once again to try my hand, but I have a good friend who truly is artistic and has started taking classes and I just feel intimidated. Maybe one of these days. At this point, though, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to play the role of artist here in SL and have my artist shed poised in a perfect spot to indulge my fantasies… Happy shopping!

Art Gazebo: CJ Creations – CJ Raphael Artist Set. LOVE this set, adds something so different & distinctive. Comes in a rezbox to easily set everything up (you can then, of course, move things around if you want). The Raphael Gazebo has hanging clematis & curtains in red, blue, green, & yellow, filled with deco items (canvas, trunk, lanterns that turn on for a touch of added light & color). Both painting easels include paint & sit animations (the large easel also has a couple cuddle; the small easel has toddler animations).
