I’m breaking all the rules with this post… all MY rules, anyway.  First off, I’m blogging as a male, which I haven’t done in ages.  Secondly, I’m blogging as a fantasy male, which I’ve NEVER done.  And thirdly, I’m posting this late at night rather than in the AM, but I have company coming and I need to be at the airport by the time I normally post, and then my time is not my own till next week.   Besides, I think this is an awesome fantasy look for a guy, and its from one of my favorite designers (who also happens to be a sponsor!!! Color, color, color!!! Is there ever enough color in the world?  Don’t get me wrong, neutrals have their place in the world, but they’re just so, well, neutral!  I love being surrounded by color, wearing color, creating color… color creates a vibrance in the air and just makes me feel so alive!  I even prefer having the blues to having the blahs… Tosses some fairy dust into the flames and sends energy out into the world… May color fill your day and chase any drabs away!!

Daydreaming of Life as a Warrior Fae

I was thinking (dangerous, yes, I know) about how we all — human or fae, IRL or on the grid — daydream about other lives, other paths we might have chosen.  It’s easier here in SL to actually explore those other lives, other twists of fate; one might even say that is the point of this whole other “second” life.  Be that as it may, I am who I am, with my own “back story” as it were, and the majority of my posts reflect various sides of my life… as a scout/defender of the tribe, as well as the more casual and formal sides when “off duty”.   But in another, simpler life, perhaps I would have been something more bucolic and peaceful, maybe a shepherdess where my biggest concerns were the safety and health of my flock.  And then I think about how that very routine of life, day after day, would cause me to dream about a more exciting existence, like the one I actually lead, a colorful life instead of the drab brown of shepherd life.  Just another instance of the grass always being greener, and how even occasionally, we all want what we don’t have instead of treasuring what we DO.  So here’s to the shepherdess dreaming of the excitement of battle, and to the warrior yearning after the peace of the countryside… in fact, here’s to all the dreamers in all the worlds, especially this one we all share in SL!!!

Studious Fae

I’m so excited I can’t keep my wings from flapping! I have a new sponsor, Viki, whose clothes I’ve LOVED (and blogged whenever at a sponsored event, and then some!), AND I have a new look (yes, again).  I know that fae age differently, that we stay looking quite young far beyond our years, but the mirror reflected someone I just didn’t recognize, and I felt “out of sync” with who (and what) I am.  April is a time of rebirth, when the world reawakens and springs to new life, so what better time for new beginnings?  I’ve even demanded (and received!) a bit of inclusion in the blog title (well at least in the tag line after listening to some blathering about domain names… I just started sharpening my knife, and suddenly there was an equitable solution lol).   I’m working to better myself in other ways too… I’m no longer just going to play and explore when not working.  Instead I’m going to study up on how else I can serve my people, to set myself apart from being just another scout and defender.  In my adopted tribe, ANYONE can rise to leadership, and I am committed to making myself worthy of the crown…  I do find though that my attention span is a bit limited when the sun is shining outside, and I hear the sounds of the vendors opening their stalls and hawking their sales.  Just a few more minutes, and I’m off for my daily round of shopping… Join me?

Planning My Next Move

Not all battles are fought with weapons. In fact, to me, the more challenging and definitely the more enjoyable battles are ones of wit and strategy.  In fact, all the dexterity and expertise with a weapon can only take you so far without the strategic intelligence to guide you, especially when your goal is not domination but defense. Or perhaps that’s just defensive posturing for why this fae loves games and puzzles so much.  In fact when I’m not working on a blog (shopping, putting a look together, scouting locations, doing the actual shoot, editing, and so on), I often find myself perched on the edge of my chair, playing cards inworld (Skippo is my current passion lol).  IRL, other games take over.  But it all has one thing in common… challenging the brain, learning the skills, exercising creativity in order to claim victory!  Sadly, chess has never come easily to me, but I do love those giant chessboards!  Now let me think about my next move….

A Flight of Fancy

I know, I know, I’m breaking one of the cardinal rules of this blog… I’m doing what we have dubbed “a double post,” or a single blog post that features two distinct photos.  They’re just both so necessary to the story… the romantic fantasy of this stunning gown combined with the dramatic fantasy of my face, a true flight of fancy demanding both the full shot AND the closeup. In this situation, you just can’t have one without the other.  So why choose? That’s the freedom of being a fae and, let’s face it, of having your own blog lol! Wondrous Winter

It’s been just about a year-and-a-half since I awoke from my deep slumber and was reborn as a blogger of fantasy.  Although it’s definitely taken some adjustment and lots and lots and LOTS of trial and error, resulting in repeated revisions and updating, I have to say that this fae has finally reached a place of happiness.  Yes, yes,  there will still be lots of changes in the future, a fae needs to change and grow and evolve just like everybody else.  The fact is, though, I still find this world of SL fantasy so wonderful and exciting, I enjoy agonizing over every detail, every search for the perfect accessory or pose or setting.  And fantasy in SL seems to be growing and growing…  years ago, its popularity was in a steep downward spiral, especially after the elven migration to Inworldz (I went too for a little while), and I had lost my will to live in that diminishing space.  But now!!!!!  The love of fantasy seems to be growing by leaps and bounds, which you can see just by looking at all the new fabulous designers making totally unique creations… and this in turn has given birth to several events dedicated to this world we love.  I am soooo very thrilled that I have been accepted as a blogger for one of the newest events centered around roleplay, The Narrative.  Filled with fabulous fantasy finds (giggles at the triple alliteration), it’s definitely a don’t miss event for everyone who can appreciate the beauty and wonder of fantasy in this second life we share.
