It’s been a rough week. I’m so glad it’s Friday, not that it really means much any more considering that I’ve started a new online business where I work from home on the computer all day.  Still, weekend days SEEM different somehow. Perhaps it’s just mental carryover from all the years of getting dressed and commuting hours back and forth to a “real” job and then coming home to change into an outfit like this one.  (How’s THAT for a segue!?!) Just by a quick glance, you can tell it’s an Allure Couture outfit by the attention to detail — the buttons at the front of pants, the zippers at the tops of the thighs and the open ones at the ankles (I LOVE the ones at the ankles!), the inset above the knees, the splash of pattern on the back pockets, the loose folds of the top, the way the bra fits… you just feel so relaxed and easygoing yet still so sexy when wearing this.  And that’s a killer combination… both for you, and for anyone else.  😉

There are so many parts to putting together a blog, which you already know because I’ve talked about how much I love putting them all together. Discovering the detail in an outfit like this from Sweet E’s is a pure joy — the sheer sections have a wonderful “netted” texture, and while they’re large enough to be quite sexy, they don’t cross over to become what I would consider trashy; on the solid pieces, the pattern is beautiful and rich, ESPECIALLY on the boots, where the lacing and the grommets took my breath away they’re so realistic (as are the zippers!); the chain link “straps” connecting the top and the bottom are extremely well done… all in all, just really well-pleased with all the textures and shading. Found the perfect jewelry, hair, skin… And then I go to do the shoot in a fabulous new sim like Kekeland-Bardeco, only to get knocked out of position while standing out of the way shooting in a doorway — wearing a pretty large modeling light I’ve built btw which simply can’t be missed — by other avi’s not once, but twice, and one of them kept running into me repeatedly.  AND NO APOLOGIES!  NOT ONE! I mean, seriously???  I’m a New Yorker and we have a reputation for supposedly being rude, and I would at least say “excuse me” if I banged into someone, let alone someone doing a photo shoot.  Well, that’s my rant for the week (ok, at least for the day lol)… 😉

One of the many things that I love about MOZ Designs is that there is ALWAYS something new coming out. The latest creation off the non-stop drawing board are these snug-fitting, beautifully constructed, comfy-looking, eternally stylish rolled-cuff jeans. Even if that hint of fall has not quite yet hit the air, it certainly has hit the calendar. I was actually stuck behind my first school bus yesterday lol! But I do love when the evenings get cool, and the jackets come out, and sometimes a little snuggling is necessary just to stay warm. And although summer is definitely hanging on, the new crop of fall clothes is definitely appearing both in the real world and here in Second Life. I just couldn’t resist either this one-buttoned open denim shirt with its stand-up little collar or these hip-hugging patterned denims (a whole bunch of different patterns, this is the only light one) that came through my “inbox”… sexy, but relaxed, perfect for the in-between change of seasons. At least here on the grid I don’t have to worry about getting my boxes down and moving my wardrobe all around! There’s always room for more!

How many times have I thought “yes, this is it!”, the head I’ve waited for, the best skirt, the best hair designer, the best this, the best that. The answer is countless, and I’m sure it will continue to be so in the future. Because yes, I have once again, broken several promises to myself. I have (a) bought another head… and yes, once again, I feel that THIS IS THE ONE! I adored Sandy, but Athena takes my look two steps further, with eyes that are more slanted and lips that are fuller, both of which were on my wish list.  And although I promised myself to cut back on hair, there’s an amazing sale at Argrace, with every single hair on sale for 100L per color from Sept 1-10, so yes, I (b) splurged on quite a few photographic styles like this one.  As for my outfit, when it’s MOZ mix ‘n’ match, I always wonder how I’ve never put it together before quite like this, because how could I have missed out on this look!?! According to the calendar, the lazy hazy days of summer are ending… fall is on its way. Though where I live, it seems no one bothered to inform Mother Nature… it’s been brutally hot and humid. It’s nice to find whatever respite is available, some little corner of beauty for a private escape, where you can just let your mind drift along, carried away by the breeze, the music… before you know it, one thing leads to another, and you find yourself daydreaming your cares away. People have lots of misconceptions about bloggers, maybe because we’re all so different from each other in so many ways. For example, someone I don’t know (and who didn’t know I was a blogger) commented extensively in group chat at a crowded event that they hated bloggers because “they only blog what they get for free,” blah blah blah.  Well, although that might be true for some bloggers, it really got under my skin. Yes, if you’re sponsored, you get free items from your sponsors to blog; that’s your job. And you can see right there in the blog who sponsors a blogger (I have four sponsors, you can see their logos). But there’s so much more to putting together a look than just putting on a piece of clothing, and speaking only for myself, I often do posts that don’t feature a single sponsored (aka free) item (which is why I’m always cruising sales and events). This particular post is a perfect example. I saw an outfit that I thought would be killer on my curvy body, bought it, and created what you see here where the only sponsored item is the lingerie (and it does happen to be my go-to lingerie for those very short SL styles). And let me tell you, putting together a look is not just a few minutes work… it can take hours and hours and hours, not to mention lots of lindens to achieve a result you’re happy to put your name on. You don’t blog because it’s easy or “for the free stuff.” You blog because you love it. Otherwise, it’s a chore.

You know how sometimes I write how easily things fall into place? Well, this definitely wasn’t one of those times. Sometimes it’s exactly the opposite, and every single thing is a struggle. Unfortunately, that’s how it’s been the last few days since I got back from my vacation.

First off, I’m sick. Somehow, nothing seems worse than a summer cold. The sun is shining, and everyone is running around with summer activities, and here I am snuffling and sneezing and coughing and blowing my nose nonstop, and basically just feeling lousy. Second, I found the perfect hair demo in my inventory, and couldn’t figure out where I picked it up ANYWHERE. No response from the designer. On top of that, my computer is acting up… nothing specific, just sluggish, freezing more than usual, hanging on FlickR, crashing during SL transport a few times. After a really bad crash like that last night, I reverted… my hair, nails, feet, tattoo, etc. were all back the way they were the day before… not much fun for a fashionista. And then tonight, I finally get myself into the perfect camera angle with what I think is the perfect windlight and boom… not only do I crash, but Windows decides it needs to do an update… and then it has trouble restarting… for more than an hour.  Just what I have the patience to deal with when I’m not feeling well. Grrrrrrrr….. takes a deep breath… well, I managed to stay calm, and personally, I think the results show Sierra off to full advantage one last time while she’s still on her 50% off introduction at the MBA Fair, though I never was able to get quite that same perfect camera angle again… 🙁
