So I seem to be behind in everything.  In RL, I’m behind in my chores. Behind in my work. In SL, I’m behind in my blogging. Behind in my landscaping, now that the snow has left the estate I primarily live on.  And yet, I feel like I’m always rushing, always busy, always late.  My head just isn’t where it’s supposed to be, which really isn’t like me at all.  It’s been this way ever since I got back from a little long weekend jaunt down to Florida to see my aging mom; I just can’t seem to get my head together.  Instead, I seem to be turning into a daydreamer, just dreaming my life away… I guess there are worse things to be, at least in the short-term.  But the month is gearing up now, so I’m giving myself a much needed kick in the you-know-what to get up and get going back to business!  As for all of you out there, happy shopping!

There are a lot of things I really like about getting older, the biggest being that I care a whole lot less about what other people think.  But one thing I really DON’T like (aside from all the aches and pains and looks stuff lol) is the inability to connect with information that I just know is in my brain.  No I don’t walk into rooms and wonder why I’m there, and I still remember all the words to songs I grew up with and lots of movie quotes.  I still do pretty well on Jeopardy! every night. For me, the worst is when I see someone that I absolutely recognize, but either I just can’t quite place them or (and this is the worst) I know exactly who they are but can’t quite remember their name.  Now I’ll admit that although I’ve always been very good with faces, I’ve never been particularly good at names.  In fact I taught my kids at a very young age to always say, “Mom, you remember Mrs. so and so” in order to kickstart my memory. But now that they’re grown and I’m on my own, there are times that I’m standing there racking my brain, trying to make those synapses connect… though I will say that I’ve gotten quite good at holding conversations with people who THINK I know exactly who they are to the point that I walk away having absolutely no idea who I’ve been talking to lol, and I don’t think they have a clue! At least I hope they don’t! Not quite sure if that’s funny or sad… probably a mix of both.  Not much I can do about it either way lol, except to go do some shopping therapy!  Happy shopping!

A new day.  It’s a wonderful thing. You can view it as all sorts of things… new beginnings, letting go, looking forward, turning the corner, there are tons of well-known little phrases to encapsulate whatever you need in your life at the time as a bit of encouragement.  This morning’s new day is coinciding with a new month as well, and here in SL it’s also coinciding with a new season in my home, when all the snow goes away.  So lots of new beginnings, the dawn of a new time.  Hopefully it will bring only good things or at the very least, more good than bad! I don’t know if you’re one of those confident people who can walk into any situation and just feel like they belong.  Me, I’m a decent faker.  Inside I rarely feel like I quite fit in, but I’m told that it usually doesn’t show.  It’s a skill I worked long and hard to develop, because I’m always worried that everyone can hear that little voice that I hear, and just see how I’m not one of “them”.  Sometimes I wonder if everyone feels that way to a degree but that they just don’t let it bother them.  Me, I often have a soft panic going on under the surface that Everybody Knows… and mind you, this is not just IRL but here on the grid as well.  The difference is that in Second Life I know that I always look the part, that I know how to pull a look together.  Maybe that’s why I’m a shopaholic?  Not sure who knows the answer to THAT one lol, but in any case, enough with the self-analysis, and on to the shopping! A Living Statue

Have you ever wanted to be a goddess (or a god, if you’re a guy) and had statues made in your image? I remember as a kid walking through museums, striking the poses of the statues and paintings, wondering what it would be like., but never wanting to be worshiped, just to be loved.  More recently, I remember the first time I saw a living statue… I thought it was real, and nearly jumped out of my skin when it moved.  I find them fascinating… the combination of artistry and patience is amazing.  The chance therefore to be a living statue was one I couldn’t pass up.  I hope I did it justice. I did one learn very important thing… I definitely do NOT have the patience to ever be a living statue IRL (not that I ever actually considered it, but hey, you never know where life could lead you, right?)  So that’s definitely one future career choice that’s never to be lol.  So on to the next! Time to take my cracked skin off and let the real girl out!  In the meantime, happy shopping!

  • Skin:  7 Deadly s[K]ins – Hally, worn in Cracked.  This is an older skin, no longer even available except upon request.  But I’m such a fan of 7DS, that whenever I’m looking for something particular in terms of skin, I always go to them first.  And I had something VERY particular in mind for my living statue, a metallic or stone skin.  Whereas this skin is neither, I felt that it was not only suggestive of both but also much more imaginative in that the crack showed a glimpse of the “real girl” hiding underneath, as you can clearly see in the closeup below.  I do definitely want to make note of the fact that Hally is a beautiful skin when worn in “regular” tones, too, but truly exceptional when looking for something totally different.

Friday night was my 12th anniversary in Second Life.  NOT my rez day, my anniversary, with the same amazing guy.  Our first date all those years ago was at Frank’s, back when there were poseballs.  (If you don’t know what those were, each set was for one particular dance.  To dance something else, you needed to jump to another set that wasn’t being used.)  Being a first date, we started with something innocuous, a waltz.  After a while, we jumped to something like a foxtrot.  And then the original SL3 became available, definitely a romantic choice in those days, something that carried meaning, and I remember wondering if he’d suggest we make the jump.  He did, and the rest followed.  It’s been a fabulous 12 years, and so Friday was therefore a pretty special occasion for me.  We were going to Frank’s (like we’ve done every single year on our anniversary!), which meant that I wanted to look my very best.  Because it had been so many years together, I wanted a gorgeous gown that combined a sense of elegance and style with pure sexuality.  I tried on lots of gowns… LOTS.  But the moment this one was on, I just knew.  It was the one.  Kind of like with my guy.  I just knew.  Sighs, smiling.  Now go have fun shopping!

  • Gown:  Guguvaga (GGVG) Fashion – Nelly Gown.  Worn in looped lace; also available in a solid silvery white.  The texture is sensational; in low light, the circles actually gleam silver without being glitzy in the least (I tried to catch it in the images, but you really need to see it in person).  It heightens the elegance of what is a truly sexy, totally alluring gown.  Includes the pearl necklace & the hip pearls, as well as the optional shawl, which definitely kicks the classiness up a notch or two but hides the asymmetric cut across the chest & the thin pearl strap.  I wore it out for the evening with the shawl until I hit the dance floor, at which time I took it off so that I could really move.  Stunning, glamorous, there are simply not enough superlatives for this gown.  Sized for Slink H/P, Belleza F/I, Legacy, & Maitreya, & EXCLUSIVELY available at the January Swank Event, January 7th – 31st.

Blogging adult home decor items can be tricky when both your blog and your FlickR account are rated safe.  Generally I opt for the pure “no avatar” route (which also opens up some additional home decor groups in FlickR that require no avatars in the shot), but in some instances, I really feel that it takes the “human” touch to make a scene come alive.  And yes, although all of the animated items in this set are adult in nature, several did have non-sexual animations, but I felt those went too far the other way, deep into PG territory.   For the purposes of creating the right mood without crossing any lines, I therefore opted for a somewhat controversial route… using a separate pose.  For me, it works, intimating that it’s an adult set-up without going into actually showing anything adult.  If I crossed another line and did another no-no, well, so be it.  I like it, I hope you like it, and I hope my sponsors like it.  Other than that, all I can do is say “Happy shopping!”

Do you shop alone for clothes or do you have a shopping buddy? I basically do all my shopping alone, though there are times I definitely consult my “stylist”, my absolute best friend inworld Rene Broux.  Since most of my shopping IRL is online these days, or if not, it’s still definitely on my own, I sometimes miss those days of stepping out of the dressing room all excited, looking for affirmation that yes, this outfit looks great.  Here inworld I sometimes question “does this work” when I’m mixing ‘n matching from different brands (as I did here) though I rarely need to ask “is this me”.  For example, this adorable skater skirt comes in several fabric choices… this particular plaid felt a little “schoolgirlish” for me and I was going with a chic black-and-white tweed, but when I added this jacket and top, suddenly it pushed the outfit into a sexy mix of contrasts that I fell in love with.  This is EXACTLY the happy but slightly questioning look I would have when stepping out of the dressing room, asking “well, what do you think?”  Since no one was there, I’ll have to ask YOU lol!  Happy shopping!

Although I certainly knew it before, one thing that has definitely literally been driven home for me this month is how many gorgeous beds there are out there.  I could very happily spend quite a bit of time bedhopping, looking at the gorgeous styling, rotating all the textures, and sampling the animations. In fact, I’ll confess right here that that is exactly what I’ve done lol, and what I show here in my blog are the ones that are my personal favorites, shown in the way that I personally prefer, based on the space that I have.  And that’s important… EVERYONE’S taste is different.  You may love a set a set I show, but prefer a white bed… read the details.  Just about every bed I show has texture change built in, which you can usually play with at the in-world display, as well as see all the coordinated pieces that are available.  Beds are some of the most fun shopping you’ll have, especially with sets like this which have given as much attention to the solo sits as the couple… great fun!  Happy shopping!

EVHAH – Boracay Bedroom Set, truly a dreamlike bed with its curves & lots of candles, that just says ROMANCE.
