As you’ve probably noticed, I’m generally what I’ll term “a location blogger”.  In other words, I don’t do studio shots and then photoshop in backgrounds; sometimes I’ll use full backdrops but usually I go out and hunt for locations (though admittedly I use my own land quite a bit).  This is one of the things I’ve always loved to do in SL, to explore… I just love stumbling over some little find, where creativity has taken reign and something wonderful has resulted.  Maybe that’s why I’ve built this into my blogging, even though sometimes it means somewhat harried bouncing from site to site, looking for the “right” place.  This time, I went to the ends of the “earth” to find this perfect little cafe, The World’s End Cafe.  I didn’t use the “themed” regional windlight because it changed the colors of the dress, but this little place is truly a gem!  The only problem is that now I have this song stuck in my head, so of course I think you should too! On a more somber note, though, it IS how I often feel these days… that we’re at the end of the world… and it can (and has) gotten in my way of blogging and created a bit of a block, but at least for right now, this moment here in SL and back there in RL on my computer typing, I feel fine…  I hope you do too!  😉

  • Dress:  Graffitiwear – Sundress, & what a stunner of a little sundress it is!  Halter-style on the top, it then falls gently from the empire-style waist, but it doesn’t fall far & wow, it just makes your legs look like they go on forever!  But one of the many things I love about Graffitiwear is that you’re never left trying to figure out what to do for modesty with these short little dresses… this sundress is incredibly easy to wear because matching crotch covers are included, as well as sandals.  The biggest problem is deciding which texture to wear!  First you have to choose between 3 style groups; each then has a HUD of 6 dresses, 6 crotch covers, & 6 mid-high sandals… or you can just give up & buy the fatpack. The longer I’m in Second Life (and I’ve been here a loooong time), the more I realize that I’m a bit of a prude by SL standards.  Yes, I wear plenty of sexy styles and love to flaunt my stuff, but there’s a lot of clothing out there that I just won’t wear because IMHO, it just goes too far to be stylish.  Sure it’s just pixels, or maybe it’s BECAUSE I’ve been Ceja for so long now; all I know is that she is still me and I just wouldn’t feel comfortable putting it all on display.  (It’s also why I don’t do any nude or topless shots on FlickR; just a personal thing.) The point is that every once in a while, I find an outfit that skates dangerously close to that line but is just so cute, with some element of style that I adore, that I’m completely won over.  This is definitely one of those outfits… the addition of the lace joining the teeny top and bottom, with those two little straps turns this little number from an “oh no” to an “oh wow” in my book… and if you’ve got ANY curves, this dress will signal them to the world!!!  😉

Taking the Helm

So I’m a bit ashamed to say that despite the fact that I bought my Bandit IF a few months ago — and was so excited that I rushed to buy it even though I was somewhat torn between it and another boat, only to have a veritable hybrid between the two be launched less than two weeks later — I still haven’t learned to sail. It’s a commitment I’m putting down on paper right here, right now… I will at least learn the basics this summer, though I doubt I’ll achieve the mastery I need in order to start racing her (which WAS the plan). But Step 1 is done… I’ve got the boat.  And so is Step 2… I’ve found where to take some self-directed lessons (private lessons available if I want them). I’ve taken her out a few times, and LOVE LOVE LOVE the feel when she’s running with the wind… I’m just not very good (translation: I’m absolutely dreadful) at getting where I want to go, like home when I’m done lol.  But the only way to learn is by doing, so here I am, sitting in the captain’s seat, tiller in my hand… time to hoist the sails and start cruising! Just one thing… If I’m not back in a reasonable amount of time, please send the SL Coast Guard to bring us home!!! 😉

Hot air balloons have always captured my imagination.  Maybe it’s from watching the Wizard of Oz as a little girl, or pictures I’ve seen of hot air balloon festivals, but they always make my heart soar. My family did a hot air balloon ride in Arizona several years ago… it was not quite as magical as I’d hoped — my head was hot from the heat for the balloon, and we hit a day without much wind — but it was still pretty thrilling and the history behind it was fascinating (especially its relationship to champagne!!!)… This gacha brought all that rushing back into my mind in a moment, and although there’s no champagne handy and this balloon doesn’t actually move, let’s toast to taking a ride in my beautiful balloon!  😉

Yes, I know the bird in this pic isn’t a swan, but for some reason this image made me think of the line by Cream “I told you ’bout the swans, that they live in the park”.  I never really understood the song, and obviously there’s no swan (though the egret is a beautiful stand-in), but the song is stuck in my head. Now it might be stuck in yours as well lol… At least it’s a great song! So while you’re listening to the soundtrack play over and over in your head (as I am in mine), take a look at what inspired the walk in the park… this insanely gorgeous shabby chique outfit (is it chic or chique? It’s been a bit of a tough week all in all, and it’s not even over yet. As I mentioned in an earlier blog, I started a new job and although it sounds really whingy, I’m just not used to getting up early every day, getting dressed, packing a lunch, and going to work. Luckily it’s an extremely short commute (only 5 minutes!) and a very flexible schedule, but still, I’m just not used to having to be anywhere day after day.  On top of that, tax forms are due for my small business, which is stressful, some medical issues are rearing their ugly head, FlickR has been IMPOSSIBLE, and it just goes on and on. Here in Second Life, deadlines have crept up on me due to my new time constraints and my still learning how to cope with them.  Bottom line, I’m feeling kind of down on myself.  Even though my oufit is awesome and I absolutely adore my new head, when I look at myself I see beyond what the mirror sees.  I need to remind myself of the message on the wall:  Whatever, I’m fabulous anyway! 😉

I don’t work full-time anymore, so you’d think that weekends would be just another day. But old habits are persistent, and weekend mornings still feel special, and lazing around is not just allowed, it’s almost mandatory lol.  And I worked hard to show off a blend of products here, some of which is so brand new it’s not even available yet! Spellbound

I’m coming up on my 12th rez day in Second Life, and although I find plenty of things that I love, it’s somewhat rare that I find something truly different and unique. This incredible dress is one such item. The dress is called Slither because the texture is animated and the dress appears to actually move… it’s totally mesmerizing (see the video inset below)… I actually found it difficult to get dressed because I kept finding myself just watching it lol! It’s curious that I absolutely cannot abide snakes in real life — I actually stop breathing if I’m in proximity to one — and yet here I am, wearing a dress that slithers and another snake curling around my neck!  Will wonders never cease? Hmmm, maybe I’m actually spellbound by this texture!?! Either way, I’m going to enjoy the magic of the night!  😉

And just like that, it’s February.  So far, it’s a month of a still-freezing polar vortex, Valentine’s Day, and a special acknowledgment for me when logging in today, in that I learned that I’m a Blogger of the Month for 7 Deadly s[K]ins!!! I’m so honored and thrilled I can’t even tell you. If you read this blog at all, you may have noticed that 7DS are with VERY few exceptions, the only skins I wear… I just love their detail and their beauty, on both my LAQ and Tonic heads (they’re Omega).  So my heart is flying high today, a perfect day to feel all the love around me, even while freezing my ass off here in RL!!!  Stay warm! 😉
