This must be my week for troubled shoots, but only because I keep getting in my own way.  Once again, I put together a look I love pretty easily, although I admittedly had some difficulty choosing which color set to wear.  I  even bought a special pair of shoes (which I ended up not even using)!  Then I found a new sim and spent quite a bit of time shooting at three different locations with three different poses, loving the results at one (which, of course, did not even show shoes because of tall grass lol).  Was going through all my shots to pick my windlight when I received a new release of the most awesome little slouch boots that were just perfect for the outfit!  I didn’t know whether to close my eyes and pretend I hadn’t noticed, and just go with the shot, or redo.  Never being one to take the easy road, this morning I went back to the sim, found a new location, and did a whole new shoot.  Once again, to me the results are worth it, but why oh why, does it have to be so tough this week????  Sighs, singing the blogger blues… Enough with February… next month’s shoots will be smoother, that’s a promise to myself!  We’ll see if I keep it lol!  😉

  • Outfit:  1 Hundred – Dearest Cardi Set, which includes the button-down cardigan, adorable plaid mini-skirt, & matching panties (I LOVE when a designer thinks to include panties, it makes life so much easier).  It really is adorable without crossing over into “too cute” territory. The eyelet details on the shoulders, neckline & bustline of the sweater totally deserve mention, they’re outstanding & add so much dimension!  In 6 color options for just 150L each or if you can’t decide (it’s REALLY tough lol; I’m wearing the Peach set), the fatpack is just 600L.   • Pants:  MOZ Designs –   SNEAK PEEK! Slouch Leather Boots, so cute that I threw away a whole blog post because they made the whole outfit look that much better.  Awesome with a short skirt like this; will look equally great with leggings!   • Skin:  7 Deadly s[K]ins – Bregje, worn in Cashew Browless. It’s a good thing you don’t have to be able to pronounce the name of a skin to be able to wear her, because Bregje is another freckled stunner!  You have to wait a few days for her since she’s making her debut at The Hipster Fair in March, but I just couldn’t wait to wear her. Quiet Confidence

The minute I saw this outfit, I knew I wanted to blog it. And the look came together so easily, it was like a dream… but the shoot!!! OMG, talk about a nightmare. I know it’s my own fault… I get an idea in my head, and sometimes I just can’t let it go. This outfit immediately spoke to me of competent young professional… that air of quiet confidence when you feel totally secure that you not only know your stuff cold but you look damn good doing it.  And yet I couldn’t find a pose I liked or a venue/backdrop that worked, and I searched EVERYWHERE. I got sidetracked and spent time doing a shoot as a schoolteacher in a classroom; I ended up with a really good shot, but it just wasn’t quite sitting right and I wasn’t happy. Then suddenly the PERFECT pose dropped in my inbox, and there I was, reinvigorated to go back on the hunt, widening the search to include a conference room.  Suddenly, Marketplace to the rescue! Personally, I’m thrilled with the result… it may not be exactly what I envisioned, but it captures the essence to perfection.  And to me, that’s what it’s all about.  The pose (as you’ll see below) is called “Cappucino?”, but really, no one should expect this girl to be getting anyone their coffee…  😉

I don’t work full-time anymore, so you’d think that weekends would be just another day. But old habits are persistent, and weekend mornings still feel special, and lazing around is not just allowed, it’s almost mandatory lol.  And I worked hard to show off a blend of products here, some of which is so brand new it’s not even available yet! I can’t remember ever having had as much fun doing a photo shoot as this one. This is such a sexy outfit, perfect for a night out on the prowl; I had envisioned being propped against a bar, surveying the scene. Imagine my excitement to find this bar where you can dance on the bar Coyote Ugly-style! Since I LOVE to go out dancing, this was a ton of fun for me, especially since they kept changing up the dance. Admittedly it was also somewhat frustrating since it was (a) hard to catch that perfect moment when my feet were actually on the bar and not either in the air or buried in the wood and (b) where everything that needed to be shown could be seen in the shot, but I can definitely say that it was a ton of fun snapping away to the rock-n-roll tunes!  Many thanks to Alex Avion for the LM!!!  Enough work though… now to get back to my dancing!!!!  😉

I love dressing up and going formal; maybe it’s more of the Barbie principle, but I always feel like a princess or a celebrity or, at the very least, like I’m celebrating a special occasion. I love it in real life too, but frankly it’s not as affordable, or comfortable, and I just don’t look anywhere near as good lol!  The gown is, of course, the crucial starting point, but to show it — and you — off to fullest effect, you need to pay equal attention to all the little details… which hair is best for THAT dress, which skin, what eye shadow (not too much, not too little), what lipstick, and what jewelry.  I see my job as a blogger is to do all that for you, to experiment and create the best look that I can, and then tell you where to find all the pieces so that you can recreate what you like.  The good news is that none of us has to worry about shoes being too high to walk in or being comfortable lol!!!  😉

All of us in Second Life know how hard it is to explain to “outsiders” how important our SL lives and relationships are.  In point of fact, most of us learn to just keep quiet and share only the barest minimum (if anything at all) about our lives on the grid. And let’s face it… Real Life does need to come first because it’s, well, real. But when it steps in and causes a long separation in SL, it’s hard. It’s been almost 3 weeks since my long-term partner has been inworld, and I can’t help but peer through the ether and wonder and wait, and count the days, trying to keep faith and believe…

I’ve been a fashion blogger since Oct 2017, but long LONG before I ever even remotely considered doing that, I was a landscaper in Second Life.  I don’t know exactly what it is about landscaping in SL that holds such tremendous appeal for me — maybe it’s the ease of changing your mind once you’ve planted something, maybe it’s that incredible ripple when terraforming, maybe it’s the thrill of placing that absolutely perfect piece and then getting a renewed sense of satisfaction every day — but from the day I bought my first land more than 11 1/2 years ago, it’s been a huge passion of mine… to the point that I often change lots just for the fun of tackling a new layout and doing something new and different.  And yes, as part of an overall post I’ve occasionally blogged a landscaping or home decor item that came my way, but it’s not until now that I have a dedicated home decor sponsor of my very own…  Tm Creation.  Back during the SL Christmas Expo I had the chance to feature one of their amazing products, but now I’m doing my happy dance that I get to  the chance to blog  ALL of their incredibly wonderful creations and share them with you!  I had an incredibly difficult time choosing what to start with, but decided to go with what won my heart and gave me the incentive to apply in the first place.  Maybe it will win yours too!  😉

  • Rocks & Wildflowers:  Tm Creation – “Wild Grass Flower” Mix and Rocks; this is a perfect landscaping mix for a natural environment.  It includes both a linked sample that you can use as is, plus 3 different types of green Wild Grass with & without flowers, plus 2 types of Wild Grass cluster Flowers, plus Rock clusters.  All copy, all low prim, all modify, so you can create exactly the look you want for your setting.  I used a combination of it all to create the perfect natural setting for the heart bench, & just love the result!

Thinking about Home

Home. I’ve had a lot of time over the past few days to think about what that means. I just back to my real life home from traveling to visit my mom in real life, a mom who is struggling with dementia. So I’ve really been thinking about what home means. And I’ve concluded that for me at least, although a place and things we love can definitely be part of it — sleeping in my own bed last night was heavenly! — home is people, it’s shared memories (even a lot of the THINGS we love are because of the memories that they carry), and when the memories stop being shared, sadly those people stop being part of “HOME”.  And that’s why Second Life can also feel so much like home. The friendships, the relationships we build here, if they’re honest and real (and let’s face it folks, some are totally fake and built on lies) they become part of the weave of shared memories and create a second home. So luckily, even while I was far from my RL home I still had access to my SL home… but now it’s so wonderful to be back to having the best of both worlds! TGIF!!!! 😉

  • Outfit:  Ishara – 2019-V02;  I absolutely ADORE the leather motorcycle jacket that’s part of this outfit!  Worn open, it looks great from the front, but it’s the dog on the back together with the flowers running down the arms that make it a true knockout! The short, sexy little tiered skirt has fabulous multiple textures, from leather to studs to open netting; studded pasties are also included, but personally, I paired it with a t-shirt & it looked amazing. This is the first time I’ve ever done my blog “on the road” so to speak. It’s been quite the challenge, from getting my laptop to allow me to save pictures (my virus protection was blocking it), to remembering/installing the name of the font for my “signature”, to getting access to my WordPress dashboard when everything that I had installed at home suddenly didn’t work when I was away.  I had been so worried about connectivity too; the last time I was here visiting my mom, the wifi had been at a snail’s pace and it was impossible to be in SL. They recently upgraded the community to fiber optics and wow, the difference is amazing! The speed is even better than I have at home, which is going to result in several phone calls when I return!! I guess I needn’t have worried about hitting my requirements and getting my blogs out on time, because it’s not an issue getting it out while away! And it’s been awesome being able to be in every night and just play around, which is perfect with so many events opening this week!!! I’ve been blogging and blogging Abbi, the new bento head from Tonic, in pre-release; but now eBento is here and so is Abbi!!!! YAY!!!! 😉

I grew up in New York City, and spent most of my adult working life in Manhattan.  Riding the subway was an integral part of that existence, which meant trying to stay looking put together for the office while hanging on through the crowds… Here I’m certainly not contending with all those people — the thought of having a car all to myself like this would actually be terrifying lol — but the feel of trying to keep your balance in heels and not miss your stop is real enough… even if the space and cleanliness is not! I should also mention that I’d never dress quite this sexily for the office, but this IS Second Life, after all…  😉
