Flames can be mesmerizing. Whenever I sit by a fire (which is sadly not all that often), I find myself staring into the flames… looking for answers, daydreaming, planning, running scenarios… somehow I find the flames to be very conducive to free-flowing thought, of whatever type it might be. In some ways, it’s a similar effect to watching the ocean, with its ebb & flow & waves… I’m sure someone somewhere has said something profound about the sights & sounds of nature enhancing natural thought, but for me, it’s enough to know that there’s comfort in watching the flames (safely, of course)!
