The Skin Fair has been open long enough now where you can actually teleport in without too much difficulty and shop (I don’t know about you, but I personally found it VERY hard to cam around a huge 2-sim event like the Skin Fair to see what was available and pick up demos). Even though I get excited about seeing the latest, I realized a while ago that there’s no prize for being the first one into an event and I much prefer to be able to wander and get a good feel for everything that’s available, especially from brands that I may not know. Whether you’re a wanderer like me or someone who picks their favorite stores to bop in and out, there are some truly fabulous finds (and my wallet is definitely showing the effects lol). IMHO, this new LOGO head is an absolute must demo… she looks amazing from the get-go but is totally customizable for you to achieve the look that is uniquely YOU. A Secret Cave of Wonder

For a somewhat chatty person, today I find that I have absolutely nothing that I want to share. It’s that time of the month where I’m spending a lot of time unpacking blogger boxes, sorting, experimenting… it’s all a bit exhausting and confusing, especially when it’s divided between two different avatars. On top of more “work” here inworld, my real life has been a bit more tiring than usual as well, since my husband overdid the activity a bit and is gimping around the house (barely!). That means I’m now doing his share of the dog walks, taking over the cooking, and yesterday I chauffeured him around to urgent care centers, the pharmacy, etc. If I’m honest, though, the biggest source of my stress is that I’ve started my diet/fitness program, (NOOM!), and I think I’ve been overdoing it, not just physically but depriving myself of calories. I need to be smarter about it, or I won’t succeed, because as we all know, deprivation just doesn’t work and is definitely NOT the key to happiness! Sighs, I much prefer living in my fantasy world, where all I need to do is play with my sliders lol! Though I’m starting to consider I might need to go on a shopping diet inworld, but there’s just so many talented designers with absolutely marvelous creations… how can I resist temptation? And on that note, happy shopping!

The door opens to wonder, because inside is a magical hideaway bursting with colorful flowers, trees, butterflies, a waterfall cascading into a sparkling pond on which floats a raft filled with animations; even the walls have a colorful hue… it’s absolutely gorgeous! I don’t often do head shots, but sometimes it’s the only way to show some fabulous items that help define your look. As far as this fae is concerned, these are true finds that totally add some magic to a fantasy look! Every single item offers lots of customization to either create a personal look that never changes or (if you’re like me) to change daily based on your mood & outfit. How I wish I could do that in real life!!!! But until they figure out how to do that, I’m happy playing with my look here on the grid! Happy shopping!!!

A Queen’s Work is Never Done

What a weekend! After what seems like forever of trying to get my COVID vaccination scheduled while everyone around me was receiving theirs, we got the email telling us that we could now schedule our appointments. As someone who has an auto-immune condition, my relief was palpable, and we immediately scheduled for the next day (yesterday). We were lucky in that the site that came through (we were registered at 4 sites, and had been trying to get through to Publix scheduling and had traveled down to a first come-first serve site three times without success) was in a field 5 minutes from our house. Everything we’d heard and read was about the efficiency of this site, how it would be a maximum of 45 minutes from leaving our home to getting back. Unfortunately, that was NOT our experience, due to torrential rains in the morning which flooded the field and turned it into a mud bog. We arrived on time for our scheduled 1:30P appointments to be told that the field was closed and that we were to go to the high school that was basically across the street. No easy task. No one was there directing traffic or where to go for almost an hour, a major thoroughfare was blocked, resulting in a bit of mass insanity. Eventually, things were sorted and we ended up on a long, long, extremely long line filled with people who had appointments ranging from 8:30A (it turned out that morning appointments had been canceled and everyone was told to come back at 1P), through the afternoon. We had made sure to bring water and books to read, but other folks had not; lack of bathroom facilities was a huge problem since the line was filled with senior citizens, and the biggest issue was NO COMMUNICATION. An email was finally sent out at 3:30P (why nothing until then????). We DID receive our shots at made it home at 4:30P… not that long when you consider what other people are going through, but WAAAAAY longer than anticipated, we were VERY hungry since we had planned for lunch afterwards, and I personally was ready to burst. Yes, the weather had handed them a curve ball, and they were very efficient once you got up to the site personnel, but IMHO they should have (A) had a backup rain plan rather than first start scrambling to get one, and (B) they should have alerted everyone BEFORE heading over to wait on one line to then have to make it across to another. Still, we are lucky enough to have received our first dose, and we will certainly be prepared for contingencies like this when we go back in a month to get our 2nd shot. Not a very romantic note, but still a positive one… so I wish you all a Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Shopping!

Here Comes the Sun

I have to say it: I do love being a fae. Years ago, long before my blogging days, I had opted to play almost exclusively as fae (my partner played as elf). At some point, for some reason lost in the mists of time (but before the advent of mesh in SL), we switched back to human form and our fantasy selves were forgotten. As I’ve said in earlier posts, my fae heart reawakened last year with the Fantasy Faire, and it’s been a true joy to have my wings back! My look obviously needed to evolve and I’m finally happy with where it is. As a well-dressed fae, my wardrobe also needed an overhaul, so when I find an outfit like Aerin, one that exhibits the very essence of what I look for in a fantasy outfit, it’s like the dawning sun in my face, making my little fae heart skip a beat and my wings beat joyously!

Outfit: Poet’s Heart – Aerin. Incredibly detailed with fabulously rich textures, Aerin is sized only for Maitreya. The outfit is available two ways: as a fatpack with 14 options for the overtunic + 5 for the gown + 4 for the shoulder “nets” + 9 for the neck & belt jewels, or as a group gift in green only (see below). Enchanted Fantasy

Even after almost 14 years here in Second Life, I have to say that the creativity of SL designers continues to amaze and delight me. IMHO, it is most powerful when it comes to fantasy, where imagination comes into play as much as design sense, taste, and attention to detail. I’m thinking that this might be a large part of why I’m finding myself so drawn to the fantasy side of things these days. There are not as many designers, true, but there are definitely those that outdo themselves on ALL fronts. And I’m continually thrilled to be able to share just a few of my favorites as I continue to explore the worlds of imagination on display here on the grid…

The worst gatchas are where you want only one of everything available; the very best are where you want anything & EVERYTHING. Castanys Kel is definitely positively an awesome example of the very best! As you can see in the key below, every item is a want-to-win, & although they all work fabulously together, every single item is a winner! And there’s so much there — the Stygian outfit, yes (with HUDs too!), but also a full skin in BOM with optional ears, decorated horns, eyes, matching jewelry (with HUDs!), tattoos, even makeup, plus the orb! Mystical Warrior

Brrr, it may be sunny here in Florida but it’s in the 30s! I’ve had to drag out some of my winter wear lol… certainly not what I expected! But I have to admit that it makes me appreciate blogging fantasy even more. I mean, yes, SL by itself is somewhat of an escape, but when I’m doing fantasy? For example, to do this post I ended up exploring and shooting in Greenhaven, a role-playing sim. I’m minding my own business, wandering around, then doing a shoot, when first I am welcomed by who turns out to be the owner of the Greenhaven sims. Lovely conversation, and I continue to shoot, only to be confronted a short time later by a pair of “watchers” who are guarding the caverns nearby. Granted, I was in a rather challenging pose, but still I was quite thankful that I’ve done enough medieval role play as a fae to understand the proper forms of address, and have a ready backstory so that I was able to not only get them to sheath their swords but to welcome me to their lands. Never a dull moment!!! And I must admit, so much fun that it has made me once again consider the pros of joining one of the many roleplaying communities that abound on the grid. I certainly have the look when there are such fabulous finds as this!!! Happy shopping!

I’ve blogged the new Chelsea head before… I think she is absolutely stunning straight out of the box, but customized her just enough to be a bit different & was thrilled… BUT didn’t truly discover all of her potential until I added the phenomenal elf ears & styled her for fantasy… Let’s just say that my fae look is finally done! I really can’t say enough about these ears… because they are designed by LOGO for LOGO heads, they fit seamlessly at all times into the head (see the closeup below). In two sizes with a HUD to customize chains, gems, & even the ear tattoos, they would easily be among the best I’ve ever worn, but the truly spectacular feature of these ears that kicks them up even another level is that they have a special AO of their own. Wizard’s Wonderland

Sooo tired. Still living in a pile of boxes, living without living room furniture except for ONE semi-recliner that we are all sharing (our son is here for a while since his home is in lockdown mode, and then we had an additional guest for 2 days over Thanksgiving, Still dealing with house issues, though the biggest one has been solved (it seems silly, but we only had one garage door opener that worked; no one knew the code to open the door, and resetting didn’t work. Turned out the unit on the door was broken. Now at least there are no more calls about being locked out or wanting to leave and not being able to close the door lol.) Still adjusting to life in the South. BUT we are at least starting to slowly enter in that life, participating a bit in all that is offered here. So many activities to choose from, and so many that are hold during COVID. Between not having a desk, having company, and having so much to run around and try to take care of, being inworld has been exceptionally difficult. My blogging has suffered a lot, and I feel guilty about not being to meet my commitments. I’ve been sitting here for what seems like forever unable to even name this pic lol. In response, I’ve been forced to leave some of my sponsors, and will probably need to leave a few more. It’s hard to do… I blog for designers/events because I like their work, and as someone who spent her work life in the world of marketing/advertising, I believe that my small efforts can indeed have an impact (albeit a small one) on brand recognition, store traffic, and sales. I mean who can resist a gorgeous gown like this if they have a taste for the world of fantasy? Certainly not me lol! But I can only do what I can do in these circumstances, as I continue to work to improve them, and hope that my remaining sponsors understand and believe in me as much as I believe in them.

In the ancient Egyptian religion, Horus was a god who was often depicted as a falcon or as a man with a falcon head, whose right eye was the sun and whose left eye was the moon. He was believed to be the god of war and the sky, and his importance grew until he eventually became the most revered god in ancient Egypt. He is probably most well-known as the protector of the ruler of Egypt. The Pharaohs were intimately connected with Horus, and often an image of Horus was carved above the doors of the Pharaohs’ palaces. It’s not really a stretch of the imagination to think that nomadic tribes might seize upon this mythology to create their own apparel… just look at how the American Indians incorporated their own mythology into ceremonial wear. I (of course) have given even a step further, adding wings and horns since those are a part of who I am as a character, but all elements can be used separately or in any combination, making them the perfect addition to any fantasy wardrobe.
