So when I first started as a blogger, my very first sponsor was Tonic, the maker of my favorite mesh body.  As I say repeatedly in my blogs whenever I wear my Tonic Curvy body (though I should mention that they do also make a Tonic Fine body, it’s just not ME, I’m definitely a curvy gal), in my opinion it has the most natural curves anywhere. I love it!  Then a while back, Tonic also started making bento heads, with every new head bringing a totally different look and new modifications.  Now I’m previewing Tempest, the newest bento head from Tonic, and all I can say is YAY, she is awesome, totally rivaling the major brands out there.  I’ll admit that in the past, I’ve tweaked quite a bit to get a look that I felt was me; this time, I’m using Tempest straight out of the box and feeling really REALLY good about it.  I’m sure I’ll do some minor tweaks over time, because that’s just what I do… I always like to put my own little stamp on every look, but the truth of the matter is that this head really doesn’t need it, especially since it already comes with several shape options, as described below.  Here are the details of “the look”:

  • Head, Eyes, Skin, Shape, Makeup: Tonic – Tempest, a preview of the newest bento head from Tonic, which will debut as an EXCLUSIVE at the Skin Fair on March 13th. I may have talked about this before, but I read books.  A lot. About a book a week, sometimes more, sometimes less, but I’d say that’s about where it averages out. And when I say books, I mean REAL books, not digital.  I like the feel of the pages, the weight in my hand, the turning, the ability to flip back.  I only read fiction, but I read all genres, though I definitely have my favorites.  I have a book with me at all times (it’s one of the reasons I favor large handbags).  In my younger days, I was that girl sitting at the bar with a drink and an open book.  I have a hard time understanding why people DON’T enjoy reading, but hey, to each his own.  I’m one of those people who get excited when I find a bookstore; I love libraries; I literally have hundreds of books at home that I’ve gathered but haven’t had a chance to read yet.  And that’s why this scene speaks so much to who I am… I would love love LOVE to have a little hideaway like this in real life where I could be surrounded by books and make myself nice and comfy while indulging in my addiction… In fact, this one looks interesting… think I’ll just curl up for a little bit before heading out for my other addiction… shopping therapy! Wow, it truly is amazing how good just feeling “almost normal” is when you’ve been sick.  I’m certainly not at the top of my game — I’m still sniffly, I’m sneezing a lot, and since I have a tear in my meniscus, I’m hobbling around just a bit. But I feel goooood! No more aching all over, I still have a bit of a headache but it’s not that pounding weight, I’m not freezing more than usual, and I don’t have that extreme heaviness in all my limbs.  I feel bouncy and happy, and ready to go out dancing! Well, maybe not in real life, but here in SL, I’m ready to go, and even here, all I really wanted to do was sit in one of my comfy chairs and cuddle a kitty or two. And it’s leap year, so you know what that means!?! SHOPPING!!!!! Enjoy… you know I will! See you in the stores…

People get so caught up in Valentine’s Day, you’d think it was the only day for love.  I’ve got news for some of you… it’s not! Love is all around us, every day; sometimes, we just have to open our eyes to see it. It may not be as obvious as a big bouquet of roses or a fancy box of chocolates or a sparkly piece of jewelry; it might be an unasked for cup of tea when you’re feeling a little achy or having one of your chores done for you.  The simple things, that all too often go unnoticed (something I know that I’m definitely guilty of).  That said, I’m still a sucker for getting all dressed up here in SL (it’s nowhere near as much fun in RL, much more uncomfortable lol) and having the big romantic evening, dancing to songs from the rat pack era.  I just do always try to be mindful as to the differences between the reality and the appearance of love… and then thoroughly enjoy them both (especially where they overlap)!  Now go do some shopping, and be happy!

Somewhere Out There

It’s funny.  I don’t know how other bloggers work, but I’d say that about half the time I have an idea in my head before I go out to shoot.  I’ve already got a picture in my head, and then I try to capture that idea.  Other times, I have absolutely nothing or something very very fuzzy.  In those cases, I just pick a sim or two (sometimes it unfortunately becomes three or four) and wander, waiting for an AHA moment.  This was kind of a mix of those situations… I started with an idea in my head, but it fizzled out very quickly after the first few takes were just blah, so I grabbed a new landmark and hit the road.  Luckily it didn’t take long before a scene grabbed my imagination, and I suddenly heard the strains of Somewhere Out There playing in my head as this animation captured that feeling I often have of looking at a beautiful sky and wondering if one I love might be looking at the same sky at the same time.  It’s a beautiful sim; I’m glad my lack of imagination pushed me into taking the time to explore.  There’s still much more there to see, and I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of it in future posts.  In the meantime, happy shopping!

By this time of year, as I look out the window at the bitter cold rain and reach for my winter coat, my thoughts inevitably turn to warmer climes. I’m just not built for cold weather.  Then again, I’m not built for hot weather either. I like a rather narrow band of temperate weather lol.  Though I feel that with cold, there’s not much you can do other than bundle up or go inside.  If there’s a breeze, and you can lie in the shade, heat can not only be tolerable it can be pleasurable… unless it’s excessive, then you’re back to going inside! In any case, when you’re in the cold, the heat seems wonderful, and vice versa.  A typical case of the grass being greener.  Me, I’m ready to do the great migration from the northeast to the southeast… my bones are cold and my joints are aching! Music is such magic. It’s amazing how a song you’ve heard millions of times can become so different depending on when or where you hear it or whom you hear it with.   And once that happens, every time you hear that song, it will conjure up such memories, such emotions, no matter where you are or what you’re doing.  Is it that the music adds magic to the moment, or that the moment — or the person you’re sharing it with — adds magic to the music?  It’s probably one of those chicken-and-egg questions.  All I know is that there are songs that are forever indelibly inked on my heart and mind.  Perhaps that’s why the DJ has such an almost mythical role in popular culture. Making Valentine’s into A Big Deal

Valentine’s is one of those holidays that people tend to get really worked up about.  When you’re single, it’s a huge HUGE thing emotionally that you don’t have one. When you’re in a “young” relationship, you tend to go overboard and make the big gestures, getting the huge gift or doing insane things.  I remember I once decided to handknit a sweater for a new boyfriend… and I didn’t even know how to knit lol!  Surprisingly it came out rather well, thanks to a very good friend of mine who was an expert knitter and took me under her wing.  When you’re in a long settled relationship, you barely acknowledge Valentine’s, if at all.  It’s a nice thought, but you realize that it really doesn’t mean anything when compared to making a life together and going through its trials and tribulations together.  I will admit, however, for a certain weakness when it comes to Valentine’s inworld… perhaps because this life is already relegated to such a small corner of my overall existence, special events and days that can actually be shared take on new meaning, because most if not all are generally spent with real world commitments.  So yes I’ve gone overboard with the big gesture… yet here I am, all alone on the day, but I’m really ok with it.  Valentine’s is a lovely thought, but it’s just not that big a deal unless you let it become one.  And if I am feeling a bit blue, well, we all know what the remedy to THAT is!  A new kitten and more SHOPPING!  Happy Valentine’s Day and happy shopping!
