If you follow my blog, then you know that I always try to do my part to support various RFL (Relay for Life) events, and their fundraising efforts to help fight against cancer.  The Home and Garden Expo is the largest and longest-running event of its kind in Second Life. Home and Garden Expo prides itself on championing not only Relay For Life but the visitors, exhibitors, performers, and volunteers who make this event so successful.  HG Expo supports Relay For Life through fundraising in various forms throughout the event. Funds are raised through sponsorships, exhibitor fees, donation items, great entertainment offerings, The Wall of Hope, Decorating Contest, Finale Auction and much more.  The event runs from February 26th to March 20th, and represents not just an opportunity to see (and buy!!!) a wide range of fabulous creations for both your home and garden, but also to have fun and most importantly to shop for a cause.  I hope you’ll join me in fighting with your pocketbook linden-style while sprucing up your SL home  for spring!  All the details for activities at the expo can be found HERE.  Happy shopping!

Evolving Images – An incredible range of garden items to help you create the perfect outdoor space for your Second Life Home.  I’ve chosen five of my favorites, but that’s only a small part of what’s available at their booth in Hope 5 at the Second Life Home, Garden & Breedable Expo.

  • Adirondack Chairs – Set includes two chairs plus the matching table between.  All are texture change (5 choices!); the table has optional rez of accessories & drinks; & the chairs include 10 sits.  Every garden screams for Adirondacks!!!!

Chic Farmhouse Style

I’m one of those people who’s always rearranging the furniture, sometimes to accommodate one large thing (like the Christmas tree!), sometimes because I need to reclaim a few prims, and other times because I see something that I just think will give me that perfect look.  This time was a combination of all three!!!  I had cleared out a large portion of my front room for the Christmas tree and all its presents; upon taking the tree down, I faced a semi-open room and therefore seized the opportunity to move things around.  That somewhat awkward short wall in the front was always a bit of an issue for me, and although I had something there, in my head it was just a placeholder.  When I spotted these sets from my favorite home decor designer (and a sponsor!!!), I just knew they were the perfect solution to “make” that wall.  And I was right!!!  I just love it when my mental images match up to reality, don’t you?  May your shopping be as successful as mine!!!

If you had company for Thanksgiving like we did IRL this year, you probably spruced up your house.  Since your house doesn’t get dirty or messy or just worn out here in SL, you never NEED to do a sprucing up but it’s so much fun to redo a room and get a whole new look.  This year, why not change up the bathroom with a lovely new look? It not only looks great, the sink animations make it fun too!  Easily incorporated into other decor, it can update a forgotten room into a beautifully styled corner of your house.  As always, the lighting impacted the colors a bit, so be sure to check out the pic below for the actual tones.  Happy shopping!

So unless you’ve been living under a rock somewhere in SL, you know that gachas have been banned.  But in their stead, there is now a new system called Next Up that is absolutely legal.  This new system is essentially still gacha BUT shoppers know what the current item available is before purchasing it. There will however be no indication of future items beyond that, so you can still be excited to play multiple times to try get the items you want.  Want ALL the items?  Then, if you prefer, you have the option to purchase the complete set as a fatpack.  It’s a perfect system, in that it works fabulously for big sets where you only want a few pieces but it also works when you want the entire set but don’t want to keep feeding those lindens until you actually get it all.  Now it’s the best of both!!!!   Ooooh, Next Up… Happy Shopping!

That’s right, this chance to help fight bright cancer and support  research and programs & services for breast cancer survivors just by shopping here in SL is almost over.  The Out Shop Cancer Shopping event  main store and Marketplace shopping event – an official Strides Campaign the American Cancer Society in Second Life ends on October 31st.   Don’t miss out on this opportunity to do something really worthwhile with those lindens you’re spending.  Every linden adds up!!! It may be exhausting, but it’s so very very worthwhile to do whatever you can!  Out Shop Cancer is a main store and Marketplace shopping event – an official Strides Campaign the American Cancer Society in Second Life with proceeds going to support breast cancer research and programs & services for breast cancer survivors. The Out Shop Cancer Shopping event will run the entire month of October.  My meager services as a blogger can only go so far… it’s up to everyone to get out there and shop this event through the month of October and help fight breast cancer, a dread disease that affects us all, one way or another, one time or another.  So whether your brush with cancer is personal or through an acquaintance, is in the past, currently happening, or still waiting out there in the future, it’s important that you do what you can.  That’s what “shopping with a purpose” is all about… buy the things you want, and your lindens go to this all-important charity to help fight this scourge.  So have a cup of the beverage of your choice, and let’s get out there and shop, shop, shop!!!!  Let’s all do our best to Outshop Cancer!

A Samhain Celebration

You know the expression “variety is the spice of life”?   Well, when it comes to monogamous long-term relationships (especially in SL), variety is not so much the key, as “change”.   After almost 14 years together with my inworld partner, even that can be a bit harder to obtain.  To keep things fresh, I like to “change it up” by creating new scenes in our home.  This gorgeous dining set with a romantic autumn atmosphere is a perfect example.  I welcomed him inworld on “date night”, waiting in the moonlight on our back deck, sitting at the table, using one of its built-in single animations, perusing my ipad.  Upon his arrival, I moved to the delightfully romantic cuddles built into the table.  With the adult version, you can even move on from there if you so choose.  Wherever you choose to set up this set, it looks amazing and sets a lovely mood.  Perfect for Samhain or any other time that calls for fall splendor (and maybe even that perfect touch of romance to spice things up)!
