It is funny how when you work minimally from home, all the days start blurring.  I’ve reached that point where I’m often confused as to what day it is, and  there’s no clear delineation between weekday and weekend.  Now that my home community is in Phase 3 of reopening, more things are open, but there was never much to do around here in the first place, and I’m actually still rather hesitant.  But things are definitely progressing! I drove my car for the first time yesterday since the surgery, and went to get my hair cut. It’s still hard to go places because I’m very very gimpy and walking at this point takes both concentration and stamina.  But I’m starting to see the light, and am looking forward to greater mobility, although recovery is admittedly a lot more physical work than I had anticipated. I guess it’s my new work from home!!!  Well, time to put up my leg and get that ice pack… great time to start my weekend SL shopping!!!

Second Life couples are interesting.  No, I’m not talking about the whys & wherefores of the relationship (though of course that’s all interesting too); I’m zeroing in specifically on how they dress.  Many couples in SL like to coordinate their dress when they go out together.  I know that my partner and I do; it just makes a nice statement of togetherness and looks awesome.  Sometimes it’s as simple as using the same color (I’ll be dressed in green, so he’ll wear a green shirt); other times, we have outfits that were designed to go together.  It may be that we’re both just two old romantics, but we both love the way we just fit together visually when we’re dressed like that.  The key, however, is that each outfit has to be awesome on its own.  If the woman’s gown, for example, is a knockout but the tux is poorly done, then the whole thing just doesn’t work.  It’s just one of the many reasons why I love Allure Couture… both the women’s AND the men’s outfits have the same beautiful styling and attention to detail.  This matched set is a total win-win, with each formal more than able to command attention on its own and get that all important fashion nod, but together?  Even better!!!  Happy shopping!

Timing.  One of those things that is not always top-of-mind but that is so crucial in our both our day-to-day existence and in those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.  Sometimes timing is on your side; sometimes it’s not.  One thing is definite though… this pandemic has impacted all of our routines and in some cases, thrown timing to the winds.  I for one am spending more time inworld now during the days, but  am finding it increasingly difficult to come in during my “normal” evening hours.  This is affecting my blogging and also my relationships, because I’m just not able to be on when many of my friends are, including my partner.  It’s hard and it’s not fair… I make plans, I don’t show up on time, and I can’t even get the word out that I’ll be late.  I feel terrible about it, but the fact remains that real life does and must come first, even when it’s hard.  Well, life goes on, real and on the grid.  Which means one thing… Time for a little shopping therapy!!!

The temperature is finally warm enough for shorts where I live, so now of course my thoughts are turning to the beach.  Not quite sure if I’ll get to a real live beach this summer, but I’m certainly hitting the sand in SL!  The nice thing about the beach in SL is that you don’t end up with sand stuck in uncomfortable places, you don’t track it EVERYWHERE, and since I have a beach home, I can easily dress in any way I want to go for a stroll, have a drink, sit and read, whatever.  Sighs… if only it were so easy in real life, but I think it will take a bit longer for those carefree days of surf and sand to return… (Not to mention most of us look WAY better on the beach in our SL clothes than we do IRL lol)… Happy shopping!

I’ll admit it again… I’ve been struggling lately.  Blogging just hasn’t been coming naturally, and honestly, I think my pix show it.  (I know I’m not the only one either. Bloggers talk. Many of us are in the same place… it’s hard to feel creative when you’re locked at home and worried 24/7, if not downright scared.) This pic was different. It was a spark… I had already selected my outfit when I saw the pose, and then everything just fell into place… no struggle… it felt like old times… it felt fabulous! and I hope the results bear it out lol, but I learned long ago (well, I’m STILL learning) that I blog because I like it, and I can’t get upset when pix that I don’t believe are well done get more faves. It’s just the way it goes… The most important thing is that I’m happy, and that my sponsors are happy. Lately, I haven’t always been happy just ok, and that’s just unacceptable! So no more of that; if I’m not happy, it’s not getting published, it’s that simple, requirements or not!  It’s just not worth it. The only thing that’s more important is being safe… and that can get mentally distressing.  So I’ll be good to me, and you be good to you! Raining Cats (no Dogs)

Have you ever heard the expression “herding cats”?  I’ll never forget the first time I did… my all-time favorite boss, an incredibly smart little firebrand from Texas used it to sum up a meeting, completely confounding me.  Well, I experienced the literal meaning doing this shoot… first I had to wrangle some of my cats over to where the shot was already set up (yes, I’m a crazy cat lady, and have lots of cats milling around), and get them into pose positions.  But then one cat after another would fall asleep and poof! they transported back to their home spot and suddenly there would be a gaping hole in my little tableau.  And one cat managed to break out of pose and just start meandering away, so I needed to herd him back.  So the original 5-cat picture ended up being a 3-cat picture, but I think that’s still enough to highlight what I think are the absolutely adorable kitty design touches on this outfit (which I’ll mention are optional, just in case you’re not into them like I am).  I’ll admit, however, that I am glad that there’s no cat hair included!  Details below… and remember… stay safe out there!

Sail Away

Sighs, I don’t know about you, but I’m losing track of the days of the week.  Every day is like the last, with no breaks.  I barely leave the house… I was supposed to have had two surgeries by now…  some periodontal work (such fun!) to finish up a crown that is half done and some arthroscopic surgery on my knee for a torn meniscus.  Delaying either is certainly no big deal in light of what’s going on, but delaying the second does mean that my physical activity is limited… I can’t even go for long walks.  Since we were working to put our house up for sale, we spend part of every day going through boxes of old pictures, tossing this, keeping that, but as I’m sure you’re experiencing as well, the days can just stretch on interminably.  I wish I owned a boat, where I had the luxury of going for a sail.  But at least I have my virtual life, where I’m spending  way too much time shopping… and for now, I’ll just sit here, alone on my boat, soaking up the rays, and dream of the world returning to normal.  Remember… be safe out there!

This was a fun outfit for me to blog, but a tough one at the same time.  I know that it was inspired by something on the darker side for an event with a dark theme, but I just don’t do dark real well unless it’s Halloween, and even then it doesn’t feel comfortable.  And one thing I want to do when I really love an outfit is feel good about what I’m doing with it.  So although I considered the whole zombie hunting thing, I just couldn’t get it to a level that feel acceptable to my harshest critic (me).  So although I still went dark for me, it certainly is no horror show… but then again, this is a gorgeous leather outfit suitable for all sorts of moods, so maybe where I ended up is where I needed to be after all. Either way, I had fun exploring a few dark corners looking for the right shot… I highly recommend exploring outside your normal venues… followed up by some shopping therapy!!!! Happy shopping!

So I seem to be behind in everything.  In RL, I’m behind in my chores. Behind in my work. In SL, I’m behind in my blogging. Behind in my landscaping, now that the snow has left the estate I primarily live on.  And yet, I feel like I’m always rushing, always busy, always late.  My head just isn’t where it’s supposed to be, which really isn’t like me at all.  It’s been this way ever since I got back from a little long weekend jaunt down to Florida to see my aging mom; I just can’t seem to get my head together.  Instead, I seem to be turning into a daydreamer, just dreaming my life away… I guess there are worse things to be, at least in the short-term.  But the month is gearing up now, so I’m giving myself a much needed kick in the you-know-what to get up and get going back to business!  As for all of you out there, happy shopping!
