Another 3 weeks of THIS?… now THAT’s a scary thought!

Wow, hard to believe Halloween is still more than 3 weeks away, it’s so prevalent here in Second Life. EVERYTHING is Halloween this, Halloween that. And yes, I’m just as guilty as everyone else, maybe even more so than some… my SL home has Halloween decor, and this is actually my 2nd-Halloween-themed blog post… Granted, some of the creativity around the grid is totally amazing to see, but already some of it is beginning to seem kind of ho-hum. I can just imagine some of the characters turning to each other and saying, geez, another three weeks of THIS? On the other hand, how can you beat the winning combination of cayenne satin (my favorite color!!!) and rich black… especially when accompanied by killer boots! Wow, it’s been a whole year since I started this blog. So much has changed in that time, and as I look back over my portfolio of images, I can see that not only have my pix gotten better, but I’ve also begun to develop a style of my own.  I can only hope to continue to grow the more I work and pay attention and learn and develop my skills. I’m also thrilled to be getting additional sponsors, my newest being Designer Circle — which happens to be one of my favorite events, so it’s a real feather in my cap for me.  It’s a bit late though, since we’re already entering the 2nd and final week of this round, so I’m featuring three products from the event in this one blog. I simply LOVE this time of year. There’s a snap in the air, my boots are back in the closet (if not quite on my feet, but soon!), and here in SL, things are really heating up! I really wonder sometimes how the designers keep coming up with such wonderful creations, but this month their creative juices are just overflowing! There are so many wonderful things to blog, I’m actually finding that my creativity is being stimulated just by virtual contact!! Queen for a Day

I’m feeling quite royal and privileged in my look tonight! Of course it’s mostly hidden by this absolute stunner of a gown, but I’m wearing a pre-release of the new V5 Tonic body and it’s definitely giving me that inner glow. Although the Tonic body has always been my favorite, the V5 is a newer, smoother mesh that’s even more beautiful. What does smoother mean in terms of mesh (and yes, I asked the same question)?  Simply put, smoother means easier on the eyes and smoother for animating. Not only is the body itself improved, but it comes with a brand new HUD filled with LOTS of goodies that I’m still discovering — more detailed nipples, more skin tones, more neck sizes, more layer controls, built-in heel lock, more nail polish colors, and the ability to wear different colors on different nails (is that cool or what !?!).

And that’s what’s going on UNDER the gown! Once again Rene Broux of Allure Couture has outdone herself with another stunning exclusive for the now renamed and excitingly relaunched TheEvent (because it’s The event to go to!)… the fit, the texture, the GLOVES (OMG how I’ve missed my gloves, I haven’t had formal elbow-length gloves since I went to a mesh body), the little semi-transparent shoulder drape, the included gold high heels, this is another formal gown to die for… perfectly accentuated by the tiara and earrings from Stone’s Works, which give the added touch of finery, without being too glitzy or overpowering.  I had originally wanted my picture to be one of going to meet the queen at Buckingham Palace, but couldn’t find anything remotely similar here on the grid. Instead, I’m definitely fit to be Queen for a Day myself… or two… or three… so you can come and meet me… 😉

Rock Your Rack

The Rock Your Rack Event opens tomorrow in Second Life, and it truly is one of those wonderful events on the grid that shows the very best of what SL is all about. It’s two weeks of music, clothing and art, and many talented designers have created limited editions where 100% of purchases goes to Breast Cancer Research. The fabulous top I’m rocking above is from Moz Designs, is one of these limited editions. It comes in 7 totally different patterns and 7 solids, but all share the same great fitted shape — I love how it really nips in at the waist without looking skintight, and then the little ruffle at the bottom just adds a little feminine flounce. One thing I’m constantly learning and relearning is that the one thing you can always count on is CHANGE. Sometimes it’s good. Sometimes it’s not. Often, it’s a combination of the two. And this is fall, where the very essence of that change is all around us, so naturally, there’s lots of change happening in my life too. Let’s talk about the good!

It’s been a rough week. I’m so glad it’s Friday, not that it really means much any more considering that I’ve started a new online business where I work from home on the computer all day.  Still, weekend days SEEM different somehow. Perhaps it’s just mental carryover from all the years of getting dressed and commuting hours back and forth to a “real” job and then coming home to change into an outfit like this one.  (How’s THAT for a segue!?!) Just by a quick glance, you can tell it’s an Allure Couture outfit by the attention to detail — the buttons at the front of pants, the zippers at the tops of the thighs and the open ones at the ankles (I LOVE the ones at the ankles!), the inset above the knees, the splash of pattern on the back pockets, the loose folds of the top, the way the bra fits… you just feel so relaxed and easygoing yet still so sexy when wearing this.  And that’s a killer combination… both for you, and for anyone else.  😉

There are so many parts to putting together a blog, which you already know because I’ve talked about how much I love putting them all together. Discovering the detail in an outfit like this from Sweet E’s is a pure joy — the sheer sections have a wonderful “netted” texture, and while they’re large enough to be quite sexy, they don’t cross over to become what I would consider trashy; on the solid pieces, the pattern is beautiful and rich, ESPECIALLY on the boots, where the lacing and the grommets took my breath away they’re so realistic (as are the zippers!); the chain link “straps” connecting the top and the bottom are extremely well done… all in all, just really well-pleased with all the textures and shading. Found the perfect jewelry, hair, skin… And then I go to do the shoot in a fabulous new sim like Kekeland-Bardeco, only to get knocked out of position while standing out of the way shooting in a doorway — wearing a pretty large modeling light I’ve built btw which simply can’t be missed — by other avi’s not once, but twice, and one of them kept running into me repeatedly.  AND NO APOLOGIES!  NOT ONE! I mean, seriously???  I’m a New Yorker and we have a reputation for supposedly being rude, and I would at least say “excuse me” if I banged into someone, let alone someone doing a photo shoot.  Well, that’s my rant for the week (ok, at least for the day lol)… 😉

One of the many things that I love about MOZ Designs is that there is ALWAYS something new coming out. The latest creation off the non-stop drawing board are these snug-fitting, beautifully constructed, comfy-looking, eternally stylish rolled-cuff jeans.
