I love the holidays and look forward to them like everyone else, but I’m already reaching that saturation point where I just wish they were over already… the music is wonderful the first 20 or 30 times you hear it, singing and dancing a little along with it, but by the 500th time, it’s enough already!  I love the twinkly holiday decorations, especially ones done with style and taste, as opposed to haphazard quantity, but honestly, those blow-ups have just got to go! So many houses where I live have crowded blowup scenes going on, and honestly, it’s just so tacky.   That said, I try to avoid overload myself… I mean that one extra candy cane can just tip it over the edge lol! When I first tried on this amazing outfit with this particular hair (both being at the same event), I was immediately hit with a strong sense of French style.  I even went so far as to dress my partner in what I consider French style, and greeted his rez-in with a “bon soir”…  for my blog shot, I envisioned strolling down a French boulevard or through a French market, baguettes in my arms, perhaps the Eiffel Tower in the background; just something very undeniably French, perhaps with a title along the lines of Je m’appelle Ceja Laval.  But SL was against me (not that unusual lol); I could get the baguettes, but not the French setting.  This, then, is where I netted out… and I do have to say, it may not be Paris, but the bread alone makes it French in spirit! Ooh la la!  😉

So one thing I’ve noticed over the years as I’ve gotten older… it can be a LOT harder to get service in bars and places like that.  When you’re in your 20s and 30s, especially if you’re attractive, bartenders and maitre d’s JUMP to help you.  As you age, you become more invisible.  One place in particular – the Spice Market in NYC – really stands out in my mind; it was so frustrating we actually walked out rather than have a drink and then dinner.  No way were we going to give them our hard-earned money when they ignored us.  That said, if I looked like this, wearing an outfit like this, I doubt that would happen, but then again, I’m overly dressed for some SL venues lol!  Anyway, I LOVE this look, and doubt I’ll be ignored anywhere I go!  I hope you like it as much as I do! Love this look, but this outfit pulled me in two very different ways… first, I leant towards “redefining biker babe style”.  But then I did a whole shoot that just wasn’t sitting right, and then the overall look I’d done evoked in me the feeling of driving long winding roads.  When I started playing with poses, this idea grabbed me and made me feel very European (maybe it’s the cigarette??) while also invoking a simpler time (the hairdo is very 50s I think, but before my time lol).  So in my mind, here I am, feeling very European driving along the coast in Southern Italy.  I can’t pinpoint WHY all of this is playing in my mind, but honestly, who cares? I felt great, thought I looked great, and had a great time cruising around some winding roads in my roadster with my little dog for company till I pulled off for a little roadside break… Whatever makes you happy, right? Now for some shopping happiness, lol…

I’m a reader, and I definitely read a lot, generally speaking at least one book a week (this year I’ve already read 62 books, though that admittedly includes some titles I abandoned part-way through).  A bookstore — especially a 2nd hand bookstore! — is one of my happy places, especially when I find a book that’s been on my wishlist for years that for which I haven’t been willing to pay full-price (which is most books lol). That thrill of a successful book hunt is quite heady, and if I’m lucky, the title in question lives up to it.  But even if it doesn’t and ends up abandoned, that high of discovery remains! Having a fae alt, the idea of dressing up for Halloween just doesn’t do that much for me. Interestingly enough, that’s how Thea got her start… I dressed up as a fairy for Halloween (my partner Durzle as an elf) for a long-ago Halloween, and I loved having wings so much that I created a whole other identity.  That said, when you’re out dancing for your Friday date night and it happens to be Halloween — so the majority of people are in costume and the music is almost exclusivity Halloween themed — you have to at least give a nod to the holiday.  THIS then, is my nod to Halloween… and my partner found it to be utterly bewitching!!!  I’ll just put the witch hat away till next year, but the dress, well that is going to stay front and center in my closet!

Well, SL life and blogging goes on… My blog is up and working, with a few bugs to figure out (if I can, WP and web designing/managing is definitely outside of my wheelhouse); my beach lot — which I had set up and maintained basically for blogging beachy stuff, but rarely used) — is emptied and up for sale.  Found some abandoned land I like for Thea’s new home (I’m giving her my tier allowance so she can have a bigger place for HER fantasy blogging/SL life)… and of course there’s always SL date night and dancing, dancing, dancing!!! When I posted this pic to Flickr, this headline was true… then I finally got my migration to work by coming up with a workaround: I got my OLD hosting company to upgrade my storage on a prorated basis for the one week of hosting I had left, for the whopping cost of $2.88!!! Best couple of dollars I’ve spent in a looooong time! After that, the migration went smoothly. Then came switching the domain from the original host to the new one… not quite as simple as it should have been, since the only support on the new host is an AI, and as I’m quickly learning, if you don’t ask your questions exactly the right way, you don’t always get the answer you need. All that said, after a week of emotional ups and downs (and one minor meltdown when I thought I’d have to abandon this blog after 8 long years of dedication), I’m back up and running. I’m sure there will be some kinks (probably a lot of them), but those can be figured out. Anyway, I’m back to shopping, back to posting, and back to blogging! Woo-hoo, no more tears!!!

As the seasons slowly change…

Well, i might be jumping the gun a bit, but then again, maybe not so much!  The calendar may be saying it’s still summer, but it’s definitely starting to feel more fall-like.   During summer in FL, you feel like you’re melting out in the sun doing any kind of activity.  Yesterday, I actually had to wear a light jacket both in the early morning and at dog-walking time in the early evening… and THAT’s the biggest indicator that fall is starting to arrive.  SL stores and sales are brimming with pumpkins and sunflowers (probably featured in my next shot lol!) and even Halloween items (though that’s pushing it a bit far IMHO).  All those lovely photogenic sims are starting to shift as well… me, I’m hoping to jump to a new island before I change mine over lol!  But now it’s time for all that weekend shopping… have fun!
