Putting on this outfit definitely created an “ooh la la” moment for me… I just felt so sophisticated, a bit mysterious, ready for hobnobbing with celebrities and visiting only the most fashionable places reserved for the elite…  It’s a fun feeling, and for me personally, a large part of that comes from the hat.  I LOVE hats, though having thick curly hair IRL I’m definitely not a fan of hat hair lol! Thankfully, I don’t have to worry about that on the grid, or about it blowing off… I just get to enjoy that air of definite sophistication!  Happy shopping!

I’m almost embarrassed that I have another post with a glass of wine in my hand!  Almost, but not quite lol.  The truth is that IRL I’m not much of a drinker… I tend to get a bit garrulous (that’s the good part) followed by a headache and falling asleep (NOT the good part).  But those physical consequences have no bearing on my life in SL, and I guess I just like to have something in my hands.  IMHO it helps capture a moment, to bring everything a bit more to life.  There are lots (and I do mean lots) of fantastic straight fashion shots out there, but I gravitate towards those that seem to have more of a story behind them… not just a “wow that looks good” but one that also pulls me in a bit as to what is happening, what’s behind the scene…  So that’s what I try to do, to create what I like, and that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it?

Outfits can be funny things.  Sometimes you have a look in mind, and you choose your clothing accordingly.  Other times, you put on an outfit and IT tells YOU what it wants.  For me, this outfit was very specific in its wants… once I slipped it on, it felt a bit more sophisticated, a bit classier, and definitely full of hair-tossing self-confidence, ready to challenge whatever and whomever, to go and get what I want when I want it.  And although I am a dedicated redhead, somehow for this look in this color I just had to be an ombre blonde, the outfit demanded it!  Once I had the full accessorized look, it made me think of a business trip, checking into the hotel, or looking for some action (my mind went to cougar and boytoy, which some will get, and others can take at face value lol), and then in playing with poses, it struck me that I needed to be on a pool table at a somewhat classy bar, ready to move on to the next part of the evening.  And there you have a glimpse of why doing a blog shoot/post can take me so long lol… but I HAVE learned to listen to the clothing… it generally steers me well!!!  Happy shopping!

Catch the Wind

My mind has been blank today in terms of “blog content.”  Life has just been rushing past, as it tends to do, with many hours lost due to migraine, and others spent doing a little of this and a whole lot of that.  It boggles my brain how quickly weekends seem to come around, and yet how little I sometimes seem to accomplish.  Yet I don’t begrudge any of my time spent inworld… I happily create a look, tweaking and tweaking more, and then the next stage of fun begins, setting up a shoot.  I originally went off on a “tribal” kick with this one (my mind went from “tribal print” to “safari”), did a whole shoot but had that niggling feeling in the back of my mind that something just wasn’t right; I showed the final (but thankfully still unedited) shot to my partner, something that I rarely do… thankfully he has always been honest with me in everything, and told me that he didn’t get the connection with zebras and tigers and felt it was overly busy.  That niggling concern verified!!! So into the garbage it went, and off I went on a whole new tack, and voila, I went out and caught the wind!  I’m much happier with the result, and since it truly is a great outfit, I’m happy to feel I’m showing it at its best!  Happy weekend!!!

It’s so strange that even with the summer heat, we are cooler here in central Florida than in so much of the world right now.  One primary difference is that in this country the majority of homes and businesses are air-conditioned, and down here every thing is built for the heat since we don’t have to worry about snow and ice in the winter.  Then again, if climate change continues to turn this world’s weather topsy-turvy, then we could be in real trouble if it goes the other way and gets cold down here for prolonged periods, since we are definitely NOT built for that.  Medical procedures all done now but migraines were triggered by the local, so I’ve been taking it easy in my air-conditioned comfort the last few days.  Today is the day I get back to my “regular” activities… which is pretty funny actually because most of them are on hiatus or still in the “I should really start going to” category.  But I was able to spend some quality time inworld, and create this ultra-feminine and tantalizingly sexy look (my partner said he couldn’t take his eyes off the top, wondering how something like that would “really” stay down lol)… It has been fun!!! Life is returning to normal, and I’m feeling pretty good! I’m still on a soft food diet, but I’m learning how to cope with it… it’s still a pain, but like anything else, the more you do it the easier it becomes.  I’m back to the weight I fought so hard to achieve, my body feels soooo much better from the weeks of PT (my last one is Monday!), and although it’s been incredibly hot here in central Florida (a certified heat wave!), my body has adjusted and I hear myself saying “you know, it’s not that bad”.  I’m not quite back in “the routine” though…  the majority of my friends are snowbirds and are gone for the summer; several of those who are full-time residents like myself are off on little jaunts or have family visiting or don’t want to do any physical activity in the summer heat, BUT I feel relaxed and good, am enjoying the exceptional quiet (ALL of our immediate neighbors are GONE) and our phenomenal AC.  It’s giving me time to get resettled back in SL, and back into blogging form (although I’m admittedly really struggling with photo titles… more and more, I understand why so many bloggers do Look #XYZ lol).  A couple of weeks though, and then construction begins right outside the window next to my computer, which should nicely disrupt everything for a time before creating a fabulous (hopefully!) new normal.  The Florida sunshine is not quite as intoxicating as the Mediterranean, but the memories I have from our recent trip are very carefully stored in my brain, and I am discovering that they are managing to infiltrate my blogging choices!!!!  Speaking of blogging, it’s the weekend, and that means time to shop!!!!! Wildly sedate or sedately wild?

There’s just something about this dress… its attitude… it has this tropical island vintage vibe that immediately made me think of cocktails in a classy outdoor bar that had live music under the stars for dancing to those kinds of tunes that make you sway and move to a Latin beat… maybe in Havana or Puerto Vallarta or somewhere hot during the day and delicious in the evening.  I chose a rather sedate color combo; some are much more wild and colorful, ready to take on the world! Wow, a lot to get from a dress but that’s what clothing SHOULD do IMHO… as a blogger I love it when clothing tells me how it wants to be worn, and what it’s meant to be doing…  I can’t always capture it as well as I’d like (it can be a lot to show in a photo when you’re on a deadline lol), but I definitely know where my feet are taking me when I put on this dress!  Now to just find a dance partner!!!!

The Edge of Tomorrow

This time of year can be tough…  we just had family staying with us for a week (and all I’ll say about that is that it wasn’t a particularly easy week), and now my sister is coming tomorrow for the weekend.  It’s always great to have company, but it’s also great when they leave!  What is that old saying?  Fish and company both start to stink after three days lol?  Even when they’re easygoing and NOT difficult, it disrupts your routine and just throws your life out of whack.  And whereas I love it when I find a fashion style that’s just a little different, a little bit edgy, at this stage of the game I don’t particularly enjoy that in my daily life.  (Traveling is, of course, the exception, but then you’re actively choosing it for a short time.  More on this to come, since a major vacation is in the offing!)  But back to fashion…  This outfit is definitely “disruptive,” with an extremely asymmetrical top, leather leggings, and a choice of textures that can really make you indecisive lol.  It’s an outfit that can take you just about anywhere, and take you there in STYLE (and yes, all caps are definitely required in this case).  Happy shopping!
