It may be exhausting, but it’s so very very worthwhile to do whatever you can!  Out Shop Cancer is a main store and Marketplace shopping event – an official Strides Campaign the American Cancer Society in Second Life with proceeds going to support breast cancer research and programs & services for breast cancer survivors. The Out Shop Cancer Shopping event will run the entire month of October.  My meager services as a blogger can only go so far… it’s up to everyone to get out there and shop this event through the month of October and help fight breast cancer, a dread disease that affects us all, one way or another, one time or another.  So whether your brush with cancer is personal or through an acquaintance, is in the past, currently happening, or still waiting out there in the future, it’s important that you do what you can.  That’s what “shopping with a purpose” is all about… buy the things you want, and your lindens go to this all-important charity to help fight this scourge.  So have a cup of the beverage of your choice, and let’s get out there and shop, shop, shop!!!!  Let’s all do our best to Outshop Cancer!

OK, so I’m finding myself under the gun again.  I lost a lot of time the first half of the month (again), and took on some new assignments.  As much as I absolutely love everything I said yes to, the calendar is shaking its finger at me.  So, rather than do my very time-consuming location shots or scene set-ups with a somewhat natural action as I prefer to do, I’ve decided to take a page out of other blogger playbooks, and try something simpler, faster, obviously posed, but hopefully as beautiful in the result as what has inspired me.  I’m still not very good at adding effects (translated as I’m pretty useless lol, & in this particular case I threw it all in the trash), and I don’t even have Photoshop, but it is what it is, and I can do what I can do, and the bottom line is that I personally think the simplicity of this autumnal setting really sets off the beautifully textured detail of this outfit.  Here’s hoping so do the critics out there!!! Additionally, I’m not going to be able to wait till my preferred posting time, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.  And I’m doing it lol! I have to say, girls have it so much better than the guys when it comes to shopping for clothes in Second Life.  (As someone who has a male alt for blogging and is also highly involved in the shopping for my partner and HIS alt, I’ve experienced it first hand.)  First off, there just isn’t as much to choose from.  Although I feel this is also the case in RL, it’s much more pronounced on the grid.  Then what there is tends to be produced for fewer bodies at a time.  And fatpacks are so very much more expensive for the most part.  That’s why I’m happy to be “strictly a female female”… shopping is just so much fun as a girl… there’s so much to choose from, from so many brand new and well-established clothing designers.  Here’s just a few examples!!! The minute I put on this outfit, I felt ready to join the jetset crowd.  Images of yachts and unending days of sun on the water flooded into my brain.  I could just hear Robin Cook talking in my head lol! Well, that will never happen IRL, but it can ABSOLUTELY happen in Second Life.  Just to see how it felt, I bopped around to a few of the luxury yacht designers, and all I have to say is WOW!  If I could even choose, I definitely don’t have the prims to keep one moored at my dock… which means renting a special slip for it somewhere.  Hmmm, definitely something to add to the list to think about lol!  Just as IRL, I’m just not sure if I can afford the lifestyle lol!  But one thing is for sure… I can definitely rock the look!  Happy shopping!

I’ve had this blog basically ready to go since yesterday, but then life intervenes, things change, and what mattered to you yesterday just isn’t that important today.  Death has touched our family again.  It happens to everyone in time, and this was something that was long expected, but it is still a shock in its finality.  It’s the hardest part of life, one that always brings you up short, no matter when or how or why.  I need to let it settle with me for a bit, so I’m really not in the mood for my normal prattling on about this or that.  Life goes on, and I am comforted by the fact that his was filled with pain and was no longer “living”, and that now he is at peace and released from suffering.  Wishing everyone and their loved ones health, because as I’ve learned over the years, without it, happiness is hard to achieve…

A Long Hot Summer

In my little corner of the world, life seems to be heading back to normal.  The vast majority of those who want to be vaccinated have done so, which makes everyone more willing to go out and do things.  And as more activities resume after this more-than-a-year-long hiatus, there’s so much more to do!  With the snowbirds returning to the north, it’s starting to get easier to get into classes where spacing is limited because of still-in-effect Covid restrictions.  The bottom line is that I’m busier than ever, both with physical activities and now with a newly invigorated social life.  It really is amazing to me how life has changed since our move in November.  The looming issue are the warnings about how hot it does get here in the summer.  Well, NY was no picnic either with its hot humid summers, but summer here does last about twice as long.  Of course, everything down here is air conditioned and many outdoor restaurant spots have misters, which should help but only time will tell.  At this point, I’m actually enjoying the hot days (we’ve been in the low 90s many times already, but who knows?  All I can do is prepare for the long, hot summer ahead! (And of course, shop… there’s always shopping!!!!)

It’s been another rough week IRL; hubby is having back surgery tomorrow… scary, but hopefully it will resolve this last round of major issues.  On top of that, it has been pouring for days, with several more days to come.  Since my body is a walking barometer, it hasn’t been much fun at all… even typing has been difficult!  Since my dog simply cannot abide getting wet, her walking schedule is completely out the window, instead being dictated by breaks in the rain from downpour to drizzle or even a few wild moments of no drops at all.  Hopefully all of this negative stuff will be done by the end of the week, and I can get back to important things like golf lol!  One thing that hasn’t stopped, of course, is shopping!!!!  Let me spread the joy lol, with some fabulous finds…  Happy shopping!

It’s been a while since I blogged, at least in terms of my normal schedule (which has in itself been lessened of late).  We’re back in medical mode, with lots of doctor’s appointments and all the stress of dealing with yet another unknown.  It didn’t take all that long for us to discover that  the meds and injections weren’t going to accomplish anything beyond very short-term relief, but we’ve lucked out considering some of the alternatives. Hubby is now scheduled for an outpatient orthoscopic procedure on his back, so things can hopefully start getting back to normal by the middle of next week.  Of course I then want to start dealing with my own physical issues lol, but thankfully none of them are as serious or painful as what he has had to endure, but my thinking is that pain is pain, and it’s better to deal with it before getting to that stage.  In any case, I found some lovely items for relaxing casual wear, which is perfect for my life at the moment (not that I could ever in a million years wear anything like this IRL lol)… and for some reason, this shot totally reminded me of a book I read with my daughter years and years ago (in her horse phase) about a horse named Misty on Chincoteague Island.  We even did a little family vacation there in order to show her the wild horses!  Years and years ago; I do hope the horses are still there, I know they were disappearing as civilization moved in closer and closer to their habitat.  But this little foal is doing well, making friends…  Have a great weekend, filled with lots of happy shopping!

Now that I’ve moved to the south and am much more active, I’ve started dieting.  Took me just over a month to lose the 10 pounds I’d put on during my COVID hibernation! Not that I’m stopping there, although I’ve made sure that I’ve totally realized and accepted that my figure will never EVER approach the one(s) that I have here on the grid.  Wouldn’t it be awesome if somehow we all had body sliders in real life? I sincerely doubt that will EVER be a reality, but it is amazing how much better and energetic I feel since I’ve started really settling in to my new home.  I’m always ready to go try some new activity and just keep busy, while keeping a watchful eye not to overdo to the point where I end up sidelined for weeks or more.  I’m also learning to integrate my blogging time better into my schedule, which will hopefully lead to a more reasonable schedule of posts!  Glances at my FitBit… time to get hoppin’ to the next activity!
