This was one of those shoots that made me crazy… I absolutely adore this outfit, one of those sexy yet thoroughly wearable looks.  Putting it on, I immediately had a vision in my head, of lounging on a comfy couch or chair with my legs up, and having a hot toddy by a roaring fire in a ritzy ski lodge, with lots of stone and timber behind me, maybe looking up over the rim with a bit of steam curling… I searched and searched, but could not find any setting that provided anything even remotely similar.  So I decided to create something on my own.  So stone and timber out, hot toddy out, but wine and grapes are in and so is a dog happily sleeping by the fire (I do love putting dogs and other animals in my photos lol), ski poles in the corner.  After a relatively long shoot (especially considering all the original exploratory), I then became paralyzed by the thought that this shot didn’t convey the absolute sexiness and luxury feel of the outfit, but I really resisted doing a more “traditional” shot of standing in front of a background, and I honestly just don’t have the time for a redo… so, bottom line I hope everyone — especially the designer, because I absolutely LOVE this brand — like the shot and get the feel of this outstanding outfit!!! I sincerely hope I did it justice…

So I moved to Florida from NY for a reason — my body just can’t tolerate the cold anymore.  It makes my whole body hurt, even down to my bones (arthritis can do that, ugh).  But that doesn’t mean that I don’t miss snow!  Not the shoveling part or my car skidding on the ice, but the sheer beauty of it, the fun of romping and playing in the snow with kids and dogs and whatever … and this outfit definitely made me want to go out and play without all the actual chill! (I did still want a hot chocolate when I was done though lol)… Great outfit, great fun! It’s a SNOW DAY!!! Enjoy!

Baby, it’s cold outside

Until a few days ago, it’s been rather chilly down here in central Florida (now it’s ridiculously hot for January), but wow, watching the national weather on the news, I feel so bad for those of you still living up north in those wintry climes.  As much as I miss that little nip in the air, and the beauty of softly falling snow, I definitely do NOT miss the bitter cold, the wind, the shoveling, and the slipping on the ice, not to mention the chapped lips and dry hair, or the way my bones ache in the cold (arthritis is NOT made for cold weather!)…  But that cozy warmth of being snug by a fire, all wrapped up in a big fluffy blanket or someone’s warm embrace… yeah, some good memories of that.  But as it stands now, I’m not ever planning on going back north during those cold winter months (though when I’m dying of the brutal summer heat down here, I do remember it a bit longingly lol).  Temperate temps all the way, that’s for me!  Stay warm!

So one thing I’ve noticed over the years as I’ve gotten older… it can be a LOT harder to get service in bars and places like that.  When you’re in your 20s and 30s, especially if you’re attractive, bartenders and maitre d’s JUMP to help you.  As you age, you become more invisible.  One place in particular – the Spice Market in NYC – really stands out in my mind; it was so frustrating we actually walked out rather than have a drink and then dinner.  No way were we going to give them our hard-earned money when they ignored us.  That said, if I looked like this, wearing an outfit like this, I doubt that would happen, but then again, I’m overly dressed for some SL venues lol!  Anyway, I LOVE this look, and doubt I’ll be ignored anywhere I go!  I hope you like it as much as I do! Love this look, but this outfit pulled me in two very different ways… first, I leant towards “redefining biker babe style”.  But then I did a whole shoot that just wasn’t sitting right, and then the overall look I’d done evoked in me the feeling of driving long winding roads.  When I started playing with poses, this idea grabbed me and made me feel very European (maybe it’s the cigarette??) while also invoking a simpler time (the hairdo is very 50s I think, but before my time lol).  So in my mind, here I am, feeling very European driving along the coast in Southern Italy.  I can’t pinpoint WHY all of this is playing in my mind, but honestly, who cares? I felt great, thought I looked great, and had a great time cruising around some winding roads in my roadster with my little dog for company till I pulled off for a little roadside break… Whatever makes you happy, right? Now for some shopping happiness, lol…

I’m a reader, and I definitely read a lot, generally speaking at least one book a week (this year I’ve already read 62 books, though that admittedly includes some titles I abandoned part-way through).  A bookstore — especially a 2nd hand bookstore! — is one of my happy places, especially when I find a book that’s been on my wishlist for years that for which I haven’t been willing to pay full-price (which is most books lol). That thrill of a successful book hunt is quite heady, and if I’m lucky, the title in question lives up to it.  But even if it doesn’t and ends up abandoned, that high of discovery remains! Well, SL life and blogging goes on… My blog is up and working, with a few bugs to figure out (if I can, WP and web designing/managing is definitely outside of my wheelhouse); my beach lot — which I had set up and maintained basically for blogging beachy stuff, but rarely used) — is emptied and up for sale.  Found some abandoned land I like for Thea’s new home (I’m giving her my tier allowance so she can have a bigger place for HER fantasy blogging/SL life)… and of course there’s always SL date night and dancing, dancing, dancing!!! Sometimes all it takes is a few minutes with that special someone to make the day, if not the whole world, seem better!  And I like to think that it works the other way as well, especially when I see his eyes light up as he looks me over, knowing that I dressed just for him!  If only we had more time together, but I’m happy for what I can get!!!
