As far as I’m concerned, it’s almost the most wonderful time of the year for my blogging… Fantasy Faire 2024 opens  in just a few days on April 18th, running thru May 5th (I simply CANNOT wait!!!!).  A Relay for Life event, Fantasy Faire is celebrating its 16th year, and is the largest gathering of fantasy designers, enthusiasts, roleplayers and performers in the virtual world.  As paraphrased from the official Press Release, you can treat yourself to shopping, dance and theater performances, DJ parties, auctions, questing, the Literary Festival, fantasy art, events and roleplaying as thousands of Second Life residents and creators bring their own visions together to support the American Cancer Society’s vision of a world without cancer.  You’ll find fantasy avatars, clothing, furnishings, gadgets and exclusive items available from over 300 of Second Life’s top Fantasy Creators across 20 stunning regions designed by the visionary artists behind many of the most adored spots on the Second Life destination guide.  I am so honored and absolutely thrilled to the tips of my wings to be an official Fantasy Faire blogger for the fourth year in a row!!!!  Such exciting things to come… here are just a few of them!

http://Into the DeepDoes every fae have mermaid dreams?  I wonder… there’s something similar between winging my way through the sky and flipping my tail through the water.  It’s hard to put into words how much FUN it is, especially when there are things to explore on the ocean floor.  Thankfully, as a fae, I possess enough magic to effect a temporary transformation so that I can wander far and deep, finding riches of all sorts, though I think the richest of all are the memories… Smiles, flicks my tails, and leaves the sunken wreck to seek out a new find…

Well, it seems my last post was more prophetic than I would have liked.  Not a lot to be honest, but enough for me to think that the timing was just perfect for me to slip into my alter ego, the lovely Thea.  And I do mean the ‘lovely” one, since Thea takes on so many varied roles.  Today, she is pure fae, relaxing and exploring the wonders of nature, in harmony with the world around her, soaking in its essence… breathing in a sense of calm and serenity… some of which I hope to take back to the real world with me…

Even  the life of a fae can be busy, busy, busy (especially one who blogs!)… That’s why I always make sure to fully appreciate those times when I just can be… to immerse myself in the moment, to allow myself to be totally lost to my heightened senses, to thoughts and feelings… to memories of yesterday, and dreams of tomorrow, and all the might-have-beens and may-never-be’s… sighs and idly wonders “what if?…

Autumn is in full swing, even down here in central Florida. It’s definitely been sweatshirt weather, with a  crispness to the air that is surprising and refreshing and sometimes downright exhilarating.  It’s interesting too how many plants “choose” to bloom at this time of year… the colors are striking, the blooms vary so in shape and size, but none match the splendor of the sunflower, inworld or out.  Happy shopping!

I’m a fae.  My kind is slight of build which enhances our flying and agility.  However, I am not purebred fae… the horns I inherited through my father’s line are more than just proof that I am not pure of blood… they are also a sign that there may be more to me than what first meets the eye.  And indeed, they are an indication of greater strength and dexterity than my appearance would seemingly indicate.  Because of that, I have achieved a somewhat unique status among the tribes… not quite belonging, not quite apart, but valued and praised for my ability to defend all creatures great and small…  So go ahead, make my day… underestimate me… and learn your lesson that appearances can definitely be deceiving…

Now that I have the space (and the prims) to build a small under-the-sea environment, I’m getting back into my mermaid persona. Although I love being a fae, fluttering and soaring on my wings will always be my first choice in fantasy, but there is definitely something about swooshing through the water… this outfit lets you combine the best of both worlds… seashells and shimmer to make you “a babe under the waves”…

I’m so glad I’m a fae and not living in the real world, where it’s just so hot.  It’s all everyone is talking about, the heat, the rain, the heat, the weather, the heat… So lovely to escape here to my magical land where the weather is always exactly how I want it to be, where I’m never too hot or too cold.  And if anything isn’t to my liking, well, I just sprinkle a little fairy dust and poof! it’s just want I want…  My poor human, sitting there wilting IRL, dreading the half-hour dog walk where she inevitably comes back drenched with sweat, collapsing in the A/C…  well, I guess this is what a fantasy escape is all about!!!
