Blogging Home & Decor as more than a prop in a fashion shoot is a whole different mindset from fashion blogging, and although it’s one I’ll admit to having some trouble adjusting to, I’m loving it!  It’s a totally different type of challenge, to not just create beautiful room or outdoor sets, but to do so where they’ll fit into the right sized frame and where each item will show properly in the lighting while still achieving interesting shadows. There’s so much versatility and so many choices to make!  All of which meant that it took lots of coffee but that I also had incredible fun building this section of a beautiful bedroom from items available at the Boardwalk Event, March 15th – April 15th, starting with the fantastic pool house itself and its incredibly beautiful interior.  Unfortunately, now I have a new problem… I don’t want to leave!!!!  Maybe I’ll just sit and drink my coffee for a while till it’s time to go to work…  😉

Fat Bird– Peregrine Pool House:   An absolutely amazing item, the Peregrine Pool House is a tropical-themed little two-story pool house which comes complete with a tiny conservatory, exterior waterfall and balcony.  You can see the beautiful wallpaper & some of the interior detailing in the photo which I’ve taken on the 2nd floor.  An an option, a White version is also included which has tintable walls instead of the tropical wallpaper.  Both houses are copy/mod, mesh, materials enabled & mod friendly. They are 60 prims, with an approximate footprint of 20×15.  Also included with the two houses are the Tropical Bird Prints, a series of three connected wall art posters featuring tropical birds, which I’ve placed above the DayBed. They are mesh, materials enabled & mod friendly as well, with a land impact score of 3 prims. The ads below will provide additional views, & there’s a fullsize version of the Pool House up on the demo platform at the event, so you can walk through & see all the incredible detail for yourself. 

Magnum Opus – The Linen Cabinet:  For a simple concept, this is a surprisingly detailed piece. It includes two versions… one fully stocked, as I’ve used it (which has a land impact of 12 prims); one with an empty cabinet & all the individual items boxed separately so you can use & arrange as you see fit.  Personally, I’ve never seen anything of this kind that’s quite so perfect… it’s neat, yet with the open door, hanging towel & then  the other towel on the side of the hamper, it has just the right amount of mess to it.  This is one item that has definitely found a permanent place in my home.

Gracefully Wicked – Daydreamer DayBed:  Perfect for indoor or outdoor use, this DayBed can sit up to 3 avatars at the same time.  It looks great, because it has 5 texture sets which you can either apply as a pre-set or select the frame & each set of pillows separately to coordinate with your decor, which is what I did here. But this DayBed goes way beyond just good looks, because it also includes 380 different quality animations –singles, including the coffee drinking one I’m using, 2p & 3p cuddles, & 2p & 3p adult.  100% mesh, copy/mod, with a land impact of 10.

I love Second Life, which is a good thing, because I certainly spend enough time both inworld and in RL working on things related to it.  But sometimes it seems that certain things are just repeated, done over and over.  And yet, when something different comes along, it’s not always immediately welcome.  These pants are a perfect example… Because it seems like almost every pair of pants I own here in Second Life is lo-cut — sometimes to the extreme! — my initial reaction when I saw these high-waisted pants was admittedly one of hesitation.  But thankfully, I decided to try them on, and all I have to say is boy, was I ever wrong!  WOW!!! If I may so myself, these pants make my curves — especially my butt (which is already enhanced with Tonic’s booty control) — look absolutely AMAZING!!!  And although I’m sure they look equally good with a full-length top, I simply love the combination of the high waist with a short cropped sweater like this wonderful little off-shoulder find… What a refreshing difference!!!!  And yes, there’s been lots of exclamation points in this post lol… but I think it deserves every single one!  And to celebrate, even though it’s getting colder outside again after a 2-day reprieve, it’s definitely time to tiptoe through the SL tulips and welcome those initial signs of spring!!! 😉

It’s been a bit of a tough week all in all, and it’s not even over yet. As I mentioned in an earlier blog, I started a new job and although it sounds really whingy, I’m just not used to getting up early every day, getting dressed, packing a lunch, and going to work. Luckily it’s an extremely short commute (only 5 minutes!) and a very flexible schedule, but still, I’m just not used to having to be anywhere day after day.  On top of that, tax forms are due for my small business, which is stressful, some medical issues are rearing their ugly head, FlickR has been IMPOSSIBLE, and it just goes on and on. Here in Second Life, deadlines have crept up on me due to my new time constraints and my still learning how to cope with them.  Bottom line, I’m feeling kind of down on myself.  Even though my oufit is awesome and I absolutely adore my new head, when I look at myself I see beyond what the mirror sees.  I need to remind myself of the message on the wall:  Whatever, I’m fabulous anyway! 😉

Sometimes it’s really hard to put a feeling, a thought, into words. It’s why the Beatles’ lyrics to Something In The Way are, to me at least, among the most beautiful and memorable ever written.  And it also applies in a completely different way to design… you know you love it, you find it irresistible, but you can’t necessarily put your finger quite on the reason why.  It’s just something, or maybe it’s just the way a lot of somethings add up together.  It doesn’t really matter, but THIS something is gorgeous, and makes me feel that way too… Grab a demo and see if it does the same for you! 😉

  • Outfit:  YOU by GeMyles – Theresa Lace & Boots. Now that I have my Slink body, YOU is rapidly becoming one of my favorite lines for sexy little dresses with incredible footwear. Admittedly, some of the fully sheer textures are a bit too revealing for me, but oh, when there’s an outfit like Theresa, I can’t wait to wear her! Dream On

We all have dreams. What we want to be, what we want to do, how we want to live, who we want to share our lives with. And as life goes on, with all its ups and downs, those dreams change.  After all, we all have dues to pay. But even in the harsh light of reality, dreams are a necessity… they are what keep us getting up each morning, and moving through each day.  We need to have dreams in our hearts and minds… big dreams, little dreams, realistic dreams, fanciful dreams, it doesn’t matter… they’re all important in their own way.  They fuel our lives, they are the energy behind everything we do.  So yes, you need to face reality, you can’t live with your head in a dream, but that doesn’t mean that you give up on your dreams.  After all, to quote Disney (and the pillow!!), “A dream is a wish your heart makes”… so let’s all DREAM ON!!!  😉

I started a new job this week. It’s part-time, EXACTLY what I was looking for (yay!), and just 5 minutes from my house.  It’s almost as if my job wish came true, it’s such a match to my checklist of what I wanted. This week I only did a fraction of what will be my normal hours, but after not working outside my home for several years, wow, the weekend feels wonderful! I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’m living for the weekend (been there, done that, thank you very much!), but I will admit that today all I want to do is lie around and daydream.  Unfortunately, this girl this has lots of blogging to work on… not to mention taxes to prepare on my OTHER business… SOOOO happy we don’t have to prepare taxes in Second Life lol!!!!  Well, enough chatter… I’m just going back to daydreaming now, all about all the wonderful things in both lives!  😉

Skin & Gin in the Moonlight

I’m a lucky blogger in that I’ve managed to arrange things so that I’m never told what to blog… yes, I have minimums to meet for every sponsor within certain time frames, but other than that, I choose what to blog.  Sometimes that’s a problem because I like so much it’s hard to choose; before I got my Slink Physique body, sometimes not enough was available to fit my body; other times, not enough falls into my taste range.  And sometimes I really love an outfit but the body (the template) is the same as one I’ve blogged before.  That’s when I have a bit of an inner struggle, to blog or not to blog, but if the designer’s interpretation of the basic body is completely different, and the textures are to die for, then the outfit is a completely new experience and truly deserves to be blogged.  And that’s the case with today’s dress… yes, I blogged the “template” previously for a dress I absolutely adored… and now this one has swept me away with a totally different look and feel.  Neither one is better than the other… each is marvelous in its own right.  Today’s dress is available in both black and silver; the silver just swept me away… I tried to capture its sheen, but it’s one of those things you really need to see for yourself… as for me, well, right now moonlight and martinis seem like a pretty excellent combination to me! 😉

Soaking in the Green

Maybe it’s because in Real Life I seem to have the kiss of death when it comes to indoors plants, but in Second Life I’m always surrounding myself with green growing things. In addition to being huge on landscaping, I bring a lot of greenery into the house as well, which is why I was just thrilled to find all these plants (and the ottomans and table too!) on sale for this week’s Syndicate Sunday! It’s just so soothing and replenishing to the soul to be surrounded by green growing things while winter is still having its wicked way outside the window… I only wish I could do the same here in Real Life, but the plants just aren’t as hardy as those in SL!!!  😉

One Second Life Halloween, many years ago, I dressed up as a fairy. To my surprise and delight, it was SL-life-altering… I loved having wings so much that I ended up creating an alt and role-playing as fae. Whereas I myself remained human, my alt was a magical creature of the woodlands — white hair, pale skin with glamorous facial tattoos, elven ears, and oh, a whole wardrobe of beautiful wings and medieval/fantasy clothes. She even had her own treehouse home that she shared with her elven prince (my partner’s alt).

Well, those days are long gone (I’ve been in SL now for more than 12 years!), but these absolutely stunning BENTO wings brought those wonderful memories of living a true fantasy life rushing back.  The colors when the light hits them are truly magical… perfect for playing tag with the butterflies and indulging in flights of fancy!!!! 😉
