OMG, I need a time machine. Where does it all go? These human holidays… all the prep in advance, then the holiday itself, then all the clean-up after, and then poof! into the next prep… Here I thought I had all the time in the world, and suddenly I’m rushing, and as a fae, I do NOT like to hurry… I like to take my time and commune with nature, dream, and just enjoy being in the moment.  I’ve been dreaming of life as a mermaid, of late… I really don’t understand why we fae tend to limit ourselves to the forests and meadows… I love the sound of water! Waterfalls, babbling brooks, rushing streams, and waves hitting the shore… sighs, such music to my ears!  But oh no, there’s that annoying human again, tapping her wrist, trying to rush me along…. but if I spin just soooo, I don’t even see her lol… Happy shopping!

Defender of the Fairelands

I know, I know, this is so NOT typical of my life as a fae.  But in a way it is… I’m often positioned as a defender, a guardian (NEVER as the aggressor)… this is just the first time that I’ve shown the “after”, the result of being called to actually DO what I’ve promised time and again, defend the lands.  These lands were created with the blood and sweat and creative juices of so many… and I willingly defend them against all who might cause grief so that the Fairelanders can immerse themselves in the wonders of it all.  Fantasy Faire 2023 is in full swing, open from April 20th through May 7th, at which time the gates will close until next year.  Three weeks’ time, jam-packed with entertainment, quests, exploration, stories, and (of course) shopping, shopping, shopping… and most importantly it is one of the megaevents  of Relay For Life of Second Life.  RFL of SL is a part of American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life fundraising, and Fantasy Faire 2023 is the largest gathering of fantasy designers, enthusiasts, roleplayers and performers in the virtual world, bringing their own visions together to support the American Cancer Society’s vision of a world without cancer.  It is a DO NOT MISS event, whether you or a loved one or just someone you knew have battled or are battling cancer, or if you just want to see the epitome of creative spirit that lives in Second Life.  Come, join us in the Fairelands!

I’m not quite sure why, but I have the strangest lyrics running through my head whenever I look at this pic… that moment in The Wizard of Oz when the gates to the Emerald City finally open to admit Dorothy and friends.  It’s all about stepping from the dark into the light.  Of course, in the song it’s meant to be more figurative whereas this is a much more literal interpretation, but for whatever reason this image is triggering that music in my fae brain… at least it’s happy music!!!  And now I’m off to see all the wonders of the royal court, and enmesh myself in the final days of Enchantment… I might even get the chance to bow to royalty!!! You never know!  Takes a deep breath, stiffens my wings, straightens my back, lifts my chin, clenches a handful of fairy dust for security, and enters the royal halls…

I’m breaking all the rules with this post… all MY rules, anyway.  First off, I’m blogging as a male, which I haven’t done in ages.  Secondly, I’m blogging as a fantasy male, which I’ve NEVER done.  And thirdly, I’m posting this late at night rather than in the AM, but I have company coming and I need to be at the airport by the time I normally post, and then my time is not my own till next week.   Besides, I think this is an awesome fantasy look for a guy, and its from one of my favorite designers (who also happens to be a sponsor!!! The Magic of Encanto

I haven’t personally seen the Disney movie Encanto, but my RL counterpart DID shop and purchase an Encanto costume for her granddaughter who absolutely adores it.  My wings were all aflutter when I saw  this amazing and seemingly Encanto-inspired outfit for ME!!!  Talk about living the fantasy!!!  I found myself searching the grid for the right Latin-style setting to further enhance this glorious look, and found the most amazing SIM where exploration totally distracted me from my goal for longer than I am willing to admit…  Time for a siesta, while I plan out my next adventure!!!  Sprinkles a little fairy dust as I move into the cool interiors to wait out the sun…

Color, color, color!!! Is there ever enough color in the world?  Don’t get me wrong, neutrals have their place in the world, but they’re just so, well, neutral!  I love being surrounded by color, wearing color, creating color… color creates a vibrance in the air and just makes me feel so alive!  I even prefer having the blues to having the blahs… Tosses some fairy dust into the flames and sends energy out into the world… May color fill your day and chase any drabs away!!

After almost three weeks away, it feels amazing to be back!  Walking through the woods (dancing is more like it!), smelling all the flowers, mesmerized by all the colors, it’s exhilarating!  Unfortunately, it’s taken a little more than I expected to get myself back in hand… I’m therefore a bit late with getting this post together, and I’m caught in confusion whether the featured events ends on the 28th (TODAY!!!) or on the 30th.  I’ve opted to believe that it’s the latter… If I’m mistaken and it has indeed ended before you see this, my apologies… but know that the outfit will be available at the mainstore when the event has ended.  Breathing in the air, beating my wings with the joy of just being… it’s soooo good to be back!!!! Fantasy Faire 2022 is in full swing.  If you haven’t been there yet, this is a MUST SEE.  Seriously, do NOT miss this once-a-year event.  All the details about this year’s Fantasy Faire are HERE, for the shopping, the entertainment, the hunts… and remember, this is a Relay for Life event, so it’s all to benefit a cause every one of us can support, the eradication of cancer.  You have no interest in “that fantasy stuff”? Well, you’re in Second Life, so if nothing else you should be able to appreciate unique fabulous builds, and at FF there are 20 totally different and incredibly impressive lands.  And who knows? That adorable dragon or centaur may just steal your heart or one of those incredible skins for your horse or maybe even that set of gossamer wings.  Or hair.  Or skin.  Or beautifully colored flowers and plants.  Or home decor.  Or, or, or… you get the idea.  There’s something for everyone at  Fantasy Faire, open through May 8th.  And if your life has been touched by cancer in any way, there’s quite a bit dedicated to loved ones lost.  (The Faireland of Living Echoes, where this pic is taken, is a prime example of that.)  Me, I’m spending as much time as I can at the Faire (which sadly is not as much as I’d like), but even if all you do is a quick visit, it’s one you will feel was well spent…
