I do love date nights, and really look forward to them since these days I generally only get two a week. We tend to go out dancing, play cards, boating, or exploring new sims, but sometimes it’s really just so much nicer to stay home by the fire or on the cliff edge (where I have a fire as well!), watching and listening to the sea, just spending some time together, cuddling, and talking… sighs, a bit wistful at the moment since my love has been away… On the other hand, when he’s away and I’m alone for a bit, I tend to sit inside on the couch watching the slideshow of our lives together (been more than 10 years, so it’s quite a slideshow!), landscaping (still working on that snow, maybe I’ll be done in time to start on spring lol), and (of course) I do lots of shopping!!!

My own private après-ski

This was one of those shoots that made me crazy… I absolutely adore this outfit, one of those sexy yet thoroughly wearable looks. Putting it on, I immediately had a vision in my head, of lounging on a comfy couch or chair with my legs up, and having a hot toddy by a roaring fire in a ritzy ski lodge, with lots of stone and timber behind me, maybe looking up over the rim with a bit of steam curling… I searched and searched, but could not find any setting that provided anything even remotely similar. So I decided to create something on my own. So stone and timber out, hot toddy out, but wine and grapes are in and so is a dog happily sleeping by the fire (I do love putting dogs and other animals in my photos lol), ski poles in the corner. After a relatively long shoot (especially considering all the original exploratory), I then became paralyzed by the thought that this shot didn’t convey the absolute sexiness and luxury feel of the outfit, but I really resisted doing a more “traditional” shot of standing in front of a background, and I honestly just don’t have the time for a redo… so, bottom line I hope everyone — especially the designer, because I absolutely LOVE this brand — like the shot and get the feel of this outstanding outfit!!! I sincerely hope I did it justice…

So I moved to Florida from NY for a reason — my body just can’t tolerate the cold anymore. It makes my whole body hurt, even down to my bones (arthritis can do that, ugh). But that doesn’t mean that I don’t miss snow! Not the shoveling part or my car skidding on the ice, but the sheer beauty of it, the fun of romping and playing in the snow with kids and dogs and whatever … and this outfit definitely made me want to go out and play without all the actual chill! (I did still want a hot chocolate when I was done though lol)… Great outfit, great fun! It’s a SNOW DAY!!! Enjoy!

Baby, it’s cold outside

Until a few days ago, it’s been rather chilly down here in central Florida (now it’s ridiculously hot for January), but wow, watching the national weather on the news, I feel so bad for those of you still living up north in those wintry climes. As much as I miss that little nip in the air, and the beauty of softly falling snow, I definitely do NOT miss the bitter cold, the wind, the shoveling, and the slipping on the ice, not to mention the chapped lips and dry hair, or the way my bones ache in the cold (arthritis is NOT made for cold weather!)… But that cozy warmth of being snug by a fire, all wrapped up in a big fluffy blanket or someone’s warm embrace… yeah, some good memories of that. But as it stands now, I’m not ever planning on going back north during those cold winter months (though when I’m dying of the brutal summer heat down here, I do remember it a bit longingly lol). Temperate temps all the way, that’s for me! Stay warm!

I just learned that in medieval times, there was no Christmas per se. Instead, there were 12 nights of revelry following the winter solstice. Christmas as we know it didn’t truly show up until a lot later, gaining popularity in the Victorian era.
