One Second Life Halloween, many years ago, I dressed up as a fairy. To my surprise and delight, it was SL-life-altering… I loved having wings so much that I ended up creating an alt and role-playing as fae. Whereas I myself remained human, my alt was a magical creature of the woodlands — white hair, pale skin with glamorous facial tattoos, elven ears, and oh, a whole wardrobe of beautiful wings and medieval/fantasy clothes. She even had her own treehouse home that she shared with her elven prince (my partner’s alt).

Well, those days are long gone (I’ve been in SL now for more than 12 years!), but these absolutely stunning BENTO wings brought those wonderful memories of living a true fantasy life rushing back.  The colors when the light hits them are truly magical… perfect for playing tag with the butterflies and indulging in flights of fancy!!!! 😉

I’ll admit it took a long time to get them exactly where I want them, which I’ve achieved with my Tonic Curvy body and added Booty Control (still tweaking all the time when I wear my Slink body to try to achieve the same effect). I’m honored to say that I’m a Guardian of the Spirit of the DragonRFL, a Relay for Life group that has already earned its SILVER SHIELD, even though we just had our opening day last weekend. RFL is such an important cause, both inworld and in RL, and I’m proud to be able to do my small little part to help the effort.  This post is just the beginning… I’ve used our sim (which was graciously donated to our team by Chateau d’Alliez) for this photo shoot… it’s an absolutely stunning sim, with so much to see and do, both to help and support cancer patients and caregivers as well as to just see and appreciate.  Our first big event is tomorrow, Sunday March 3rd, when we will be opening our sim at 12P SLT with a photography exhibit in the Reflection Gallery showcasing Dusty Pedroia with the vocal stylings of Djembe Dragonfire. The opening continues at 4P SLT with a “Bring Your Kiosk” multi team event. DJ Tiggy, DJ Striker and DJ Robobobby will be spinning the tunes for us! …   Wow, my brand-new dress from Moz Designs couldn’t have been launched at a better time! It’s the exclusive for the upcoming Curves Event, which ALSO opens on March 3rd.  Big day on the grid for curvy dragons like me! 😉

The Blogger Blues

This must be my week for troubled shoots, but only because I keep getting in my own way.  Once again, I put together a look I love pretty easily, although I admittedly had some difficulty choosing which color set to wear.  I  even bought a special pair of shoes (which I ended up not even using)!  Then I found a new sim and spent quite a bit of time shooting at three different locations with three different poses, loving the results at one (which, of course, did not even show shoes because of tall grass lol).  Was going through all my shots to pick my windlight when I received a new release of the most awesome little slouch boots that were just perfect for the outfit!  I didn’t know whether to close my eyes and pretend I hadn’t noticed, and just go with the shot, or redo.  Never being one to take the easy road, this morning I went back to the sim, found a new location, and did a whole new shoot.  Once again, to me the results are worth it, but why oh why, does it have to be so tough this week????  Sighs, singing the blogger blues… Enough with February… next month’s shoots will be smoother, that’s a promise to myself!  We’ll see if I keep it lol!  😉

  • Outfit:  1 Hundred – Dearest Cardi Set, which includes the button-down cardigan, adorable plaid mini-skirt, & matching panties (I LOVE when a designer thinks to include panties, it makes life so much easier).  It really is adorable without crossing over into “too cute” territory. It’s a good thing you don’t have to be able to pronounce the name of a skin to be able to wear her, because Bregje is another freckled stunner!  You have to wait a few days for her since she’s making her debut at The Hipster Fair in March, but I just couldn’t wait to wear her. Quiet Confidence

The minute I saw this outfit, I knew I wanted to blog it. And the look came together so easily, it was like a dream… but the shoot!!! OMG, talk about a nightmare. I know it’s my own fault… I get an idea in my head, and sometimes I just can’t let it go. This outfit immediately spoke to me of competent young professional… that air of quiet confidence when you feel totally secure that you not only know your stuff cold but you look damn good doing it.  And yet I couldn’t find a pose I liked or a venue/backdrop that worked, and I searched EVERYWHERE. I got sidetracked and spent time doing a shoot as a schoolteacher in a classroom; I ended up with a really good shot, but it just wasn’t quite sitting right and I wasn’t happy. Then suddenly the PERFECT pose dropped in my inbox, and there I was, reinvigorated to go back on the hunt, widening the search to include a conference room.  Suddenly, Marketplace to the rescue! Personally, I’m thrilled with the result… it may not be exactly what I envisioned, but it captures the essence to perfection.  And to me, that’s what it’s all about.  The pose (as you’ll see below) is called “Cappucino?”, but really, no one should expect this girl to be getting anyone their coffee…  😉

I don’t work full-time anymore, so you’d think that weekends would be just another day. But old habits are persistent, and weekend mornings still feel special, and lazing around is not just allowed, it’s almost mandatory lol.  And I worked hard to show off a blend of products here, some of which is so brand new it’s not even available yet! But it all feels so natural and so comfy… just perfect for Saturday and Sunday mornings and for every day, don’t you think? 😉

I can’t remember ever having had as much fun doing a photo shoot as this one. This is such a sexy outfit, perfect for a night out on the prowl; I had envisioned being propped against a bar, surveying the scene. Imagine my excitement to find this bar where you can dance on the bar Coyote Ugly-style! Since I LOVE to go out dancing, this was a ton of fun for me, especially since they kept changing up the dance. Admittedly it was also somewhat frustrating since it was (a) hard to catch that perfect moment when my feet were actually on the bar and not either in the air or buried in the wood and (b) where everything that needed to be shown could be seen in the shot, but I can definitely say that it was a ton of fun snapping away to the rock-n-roll tunes!  Many thanks to Alex Avion for the LM!!!  Enough work though… now to get back to my dancing!!!!  😉

I love dressing up and going formal; maybe it’s more of the Barbie principle, but I always feel like a princess or a celebrity or, at the very least, like I’m celebrating a special occasion. I love it in real life too, but frankly it’s not as affordable, or comfortable, and I just don’t look anywhere near as good lol!  The gown is, of course, the crucial starting point, but to show it — and you — off to fullest effect, you need to pay equal attention to all the little details… which hair is best for THAT dress, which skin, what eye shadow (not too much, not too little), what lipstick, and what jewelry.  I see my job as a blogger is to do all that for you, to experiment and create the best look that I can, and then tell you where to find all the pieces so that you can recreate what you like.  The good news is that none of us has to worry about shoes being too high to walk in or being comfortable lol!!!  😉

All of us in Second Life know how hard it is to explain to “outsiders” how important our SL lives and relationships are.  In point of fact, most of us learn to just keep quiet and share only the barest minimum (if anything at all) about our lives on the grid. And let’s face it… Real Life does need to come first because it’s, well, real. But when it steps in and causes a long separation in SL, it’s hard. I’ve been a fashion blogger since Oct 2017, but long LONG before I ever even remotely considered doing that, I was a landscaper in Second Life.  I don’t know exactly what it is about landscaping in SL that holds such tremendous appeal for me — maybe it’s the ease of changing your mind once you’ve planted something, maybe it’s that incredible ripple when terraforming, maybe it’s the thrill of placing that absolutely perfect piece and then getting a renewed sense of satisfaction every day — but from the day I bought my first land more than 11 1/2 years ago, it’s been a huge passion of mine… to the point that I often change lots just for the fun of tackling a new layout and doing something new and different.  And yes, as part of an overall post I’ve occasionally blogged a landscaping or home decor item that came my way, but it’s not until now that I have a dedicated home decor sponsor of my very own…  Tm Creation.  Back during the SL Christmas Expo I had the chance to feature one of their amazing products, but now I’m doing my happy dance that I get to  the chance to blog  ALL of their incredibly wonderful creations and share them with you!  I had an incredibly difficult time choosing what to start with, but decided to go with what won my heart and gave me the incentive to apply in the first place.  Maybe it will win yours too!  😉

  • Heart Bench: Tm Creation – The Heart Sofa Bench.  With its subtle heart shape & beautiful clusters of blooms, this cuddle bench stole my heart away! Something about it just makes me want to stretch out & indulge in some quality cuddle time, or when my cuddle mate isn’t around (which is sadly most of the time), then there’s tons of solo anims to enjoy (the laptop is part of one such pose)! Available in both PG & Adult versions, this awesome piece of landscaping also includes separate ground cover of flowers for that special extra little touch.  Works beautifully in all kinds of landscaping, either on sand (as shown below) or in woodland (as I did above). Previously available at Sanarae, if you missed it no worries, because starting Feb 17th it’s available at the mainstore.

  • Rocks & Wildflowers:  Tm Creation – “Wild Grass Flower” Mix and Rocks; this is a perfect landscaping mix for a natural environment.  It includes both a linked sample that you can use as is, plus 3 different types of green Wild Grass with & without flowers, plus 2 types of Wild Grass cluster Flowers, plus Rock clusters.  All copy, all low prim, all modify, so you can create exactly the look you want for your setting.  I used a combination of it all to create the perfect natural setting for the heart bench, & just love the result!
