Until a few days ago, it’s been rather chilly down here in central Florida (now it’s ridiculously hot for January), but wow, watching the national weather on the news, I feel so bad for those of you still living up north in those wintry climes.  As much as I miss that little nip in the air, and the beauty of softly falling snow, I definitely do NOT miss the bitter cold, the wind, the shoveling, and the slipping on the ice, not to mention the chapped lips and dry hair, or the way my bones ache in the cold (arthritis is NOT made for cold weather!)…  But that cozy warmth of being snug by a fire, all wrapped up in a big fluffy blanket or someone’s warm embrace… yeah, some good memories of that.  But as it stands now, I’m not ever planning on going back north during those cold winter months (though when I’m dying of the brutal summer heat down here, I do remember it a bit longingly lol).  Temperate temps all the way, that’s for me!  Stay warm!

Having a fae alt, the idea of dressing up for Halloween just doesn’t do that much for me. Interestingly enough, that’s how Thea got her start… I dressed up as a fairy for Halloween (my partner Durzle as an elf) for a long-ago Halloween, and I loved having wings so much that I created a whole other identity.  That said, when you’re out dancing for your Friday date night and it happens to be Halloween — so the majority of people are in costume and the music is almost exclusivity Halloween themed — you have to at least give a nod to the holiday.  THIS then, is my nod to Halloween… and my partner found it to be utterly bewitching!!!  I’ll just put the witch hat away till next year, but the dress, well that is going to stay front and center in my closet!

Summertime!  Sun and sand and boating and so much more!  I no longer get to boat regularly IRL, but I can make up for that somewhat here on the grid.  Sure, it’s not the same thing, but sometimes those memories trigger so strongly that I can really feel that cool wind in my hair and the swell of the waves as we just drop anchor somewhere and relax… If you haven’t boated on the Blake Sea, I strongly urge you to give it a try!  See you on the water!

Well, Fridays are notoriously (at least in my head) bad for making a post, but (A) I’m finding that traffic on Flickr is way down, so timing of posts doesn’t seem to make much of a difference anyway, (B) I can leave much of the “marketing” of my post for tonight/tomorrow, when more people will hopefully see it, and (C) doing my taxes has taken over all my “spare” time and everything else has just been being pushed.  This post got caught in the time squeeze, and April is going to be a tough month for me — on top of my normal requirements, it’s Fantasy Faire time, which is my favorite blog event of the year but it eats EVERYTHING… and on top of that, I’m going away for a few days.  Bottom line, wine is definitely called for!!!

Living in Florida, I do miss fall in NY, all the colors and that crunch of leaves underfoot, that small bite of chill starting to enter the breeze once the sun goes down… What I DON’T miss is the raking… my hands hurt just at the thought of it!  And although I gave up rolling around doing angels in the pile of leaves long long ago, leaving that to the kids and pets, here in SL it just seemed a perfect way to show my love of the season.  Clean-up is just so easy lol!!! It’s so refreshing to put on pants in a summer of dress and shorts outfits.  And this is the PERFECT summer pants set! Just like in real life, I struggle a bit with swimwear.  Even with a perfect body (and we all have our own definitions of perfect, but whatever that is, it’s easily achievable in SL with a bit of work!), not all bathing suits are flattering.  I fell for this bikini the moment I put it on… it’s sexy and small, but adequately covers everything that I want covered, and just looks amazing!!!  If you’re looking for a new swimsuit (or even if you’re not), go try it on and see how it looks on YOUR body!  Happy shopping!
