The beauty of SL is to try on different looks or, in my case, totally different characters.  Each fae I become is way more than just changing an outfit… I transform into someone new, with different attitudes.  It’s a fascinating way to live, but so much a part of who I am, as a fantasy being living my life (or should I say lives?) in this fantasy world of ours… Each one has that touch of magic…  here’s how I created this amazing new me!

  • Outfit:  Jangka Design – Esmeralda, worn in Blue.  Once again, I’m out of superlatives when it comes to Jangka outfits… each one is so unique, so detailed, with so much personality that they literally bring my “character” to life.  With her hip sash complete with dangling “coins”, Esmeralda spoke “gypsy” to me, a strong warrior gypsy, ready to fight but also ready to live life to its fullest.  The bodice is slashed to show some skin (whatever color skin you’re in!), the stunning gold neck gorget, the armbands… I could go on & on, but the bottom line is that this is one more prime example of why Jangka is such a leader in fantasy design.  Sized for Legacy & Maitreya, she is 100% original mesh & is available in 7 fabulously rich colors PLUS 3 limited editions (boots are available in black or brown).  As always, the outfit just feels so authentic & looks so amazing! Reflecting on Ostara…

Ostara… I’m so happy to be an official blogger for “her” special fantasy event here in SL, Ostara’s Altar (a Dark Passions event), full of designer exclusives PLUS a 10L egg hunt. But my human kept stumbling upon references to her in the real world, so I found myself wondering about who she was and how this awesome event came to be.  Although there’s lots of debate and discrepancies (as with most things lol), Ostara is basically a modern pagan holiday, celebrating the spring equinox, which marks the beginning of spring and the awakening of nature.  Named after the ancient Germanic goddess Ostara or Eostre — who was associated with the dawn and new beginnings —  this is a time of rebirth and renewal when the natural world awakens from its winter slumber. It is a time when we can celebrate the return of the light, the growth of new life, and the renewal of hope. It is also a time when we can connect with the natural world, celebrate the changing seasons, and embrace the ongoing cycles of life.  One popular story about Ostara involves the origin of the Easter Bunny.  Essentially, the tale is that Ostara transformed a bird into a hare (how? why? who knows), and the hare responded by laying colored eggs for her festival.  Is this how the Easter bunny and the decorating of eggs began? Again, who knows, but the great news is that anyone who wants to celebrate the arrival of spring and the renewal of life can also participate in this holiday, regardless of their religious or spiritual beliefs.  Bottom line, Ostara is a good time to literally and figuratively plant seeds for the future.  And that is definitely something to reflect upon, especially while shopping this fabulous event!  Take a browse through the Ostara’s Altar Shopping Guide ; then go see the event for some magical shopping, and enjoy the blessings of the season! It’s very strange… I’m a city girl, born and bred, but I’ve lived in suburbia for all my adult years.  In all that time, it’s always been my understanding that birds — with a few notable exceptions like owls — sleep at night.  It’s obviously been a pretty false understanding because there are a LOT of birds here in Florida who appear to have different bedtimes… NOISY birds, who are sometimes making a racket in the trees at 1A or even 2A.   I’ll admit that when we first moved here and I was walking the dog after dark, it would kind of freak me out when those sounds would follow me… my imagination would run wild and it would almost feel like I was being stalked by something out there in the dark.  Now of course I’m used to it, but wow, these birds can be so loud in those wee hours that I’m shocked more people aren’t up (like me).  But then I’ve always been a nightbird (and I guess those squawkers are where the expression comes from lol)…  Happy shopping!

Fiery Fae

I generally think of being “fiery” as being angry or vindictive or deep in warrior mode, but in this skin, I’m realizing that “fiery” can also mean super-charged! I am somewhat befuddled today, however, and so many thoughts are tumbling through my fae brain without any coalescing enough enough to share… so I’m just going to go live in my new skin for a while, take advantage of all that energy and just stretch my wings, fly away and explore all that’s new, all that’s changed, and all I love that thankfully is still there, awaiting my pleasure…  Enjoy!

Wonder

I want to create.  I feel the urge so strongly sometimes, especially when I see the fabulous things that others bring into being.  And I do create odds and ends here and there, but wow, I am constantly blown away by what others first imagine in their minds and then have the talent and wherewithal to solidify and make SL reality.  And when you stop to think about it, EVERYTHING  on the grid is someone’s creation… every tree, every rock, every place you look and everywhere you go, someone made it happen.  I get such satisfaction from creating ME (and as you know, I have more than one me lol) and modifying myself to better create a look, but to do that I am combining bits and pieces that others have poured themselves into.  When you stop to think about this world we share, it really is a wonder…  And I for one, am so happy to be a part of it!  And who knows? Maybe one day I too will stop talking about the desire to create and I’ll actually do it!  Happy shopping!

I’m a huge reader, generally at least a book a week, all fiction but across multiple genres.   I have for as long as I can remember.  Back in the day, I never went ANYWHERE without a book in my bag; I was that girl sitting at the bar waiting for whomever I was going to meet, reading a book (nowadays it’s more often my Kindle, and I’m NOT sitting at bars lol).  I have to admit it always surprises me a little when I find out that someone doesn’t like to read; it doesn’t bother me, mind you, nor make me think any less about the person (though I’ll admit that I DO think differently about them); it just surprises me (and saddens me in a way too) that they don’t enjoy that feeling of expanding their knowledge and/or their imagination, of losing themselves in other people’s lives and understanding situations and choices vastly different from those they themselves have faced.  But I have discovered that a rather high percentage of those non-book-readers are somewhat snobbish about the fact, thinking that it somehow makes them better, that they don’t “waste their time on all that”.  I’ve even had a few men (and it’s top of mind because it just happened again the other day) say that being “bookish” made a woman less sexy… well, now THAT statement DID make me think less about him…  I prefer men who think that being bookish makes a woman sexier… after all, she has more to draw on in conversation, in understanding, in handling situations, and yes, even in bed…  Although that could definitely make her more challenging, perhaps even a bit threatening…  which says more about the guy than it does about the woman.  And yes, I have quite a few reading nooks in my SL home and scattered around the parcel (they’re actually better and more comfortable than in my RL home lol), because to me, no home is complete without at least one.  Glancing over at my book, I feel that urge coming on… Happy Weekend!

The Scene:

Stretches languorously… mmm who am I today?  That’s one of the things that I love so incredibly much about fantasy fashion… unlike “human” dressing where if you’re lucky you get a “feeling” or what I like to think of as an “attitude” when you put on the clothes, with quality fantasy fashion (any by “fashion” I mean more than JUST the clothes but also all the accessories that heighten and deepen your look)  you BECOME someone new… it’s almost like creating a character in a book.  As the puzzle pieces fit together to create a wholly unique image, backstories emerge, and life’s parameters and goals and desires come right along with it.  Well, you may question that or even scoff, but maybe that’s why I blog… I love effectively giving birth to a new fae… she may be related to others who came before and who will come after…  but the details will always be hers and hers alone.   I do love roleplay, even though my roles tend to be short ones lol!!!
