I’ve been such a busy fae!  For some reason, I got the urge to redo my land, so I’ve been digging through storage, unearthing lost treasures, tossing out other items that no longer capture my imagination, and just taking a fresh look at everything around me.  I’m considering some extensive renovation, lowering a large section of my mountain, but that definitely requires more thought than the quick impulse that had me about to start demolition, because once started, there’s no going back!!!! (Why isn’t there an UNDO button when it comes to editing the land????)  Just as well though… I needed more practice working with my orb so that I know how to harness its power when needed.  And then of course I’m off to all  the new and soon-ending events, because what fae ever has enough???

Fae, Interrupted

A bit deep in thought these days; not sure why, but just not feeling particularly social.  I’m enjoying my time just wandering through somewhat wild places I’ve never seen (this sim is just awesome for that!), tweaking my home to capture more of that wild & colorful essence, and communing with nature and its denizens.  A little private time seems to be just what this fae needs, and she is definitely making the most of it! (Of course, that does NOT impact my shopping… that would be downright sacrilegious lol!!!)…  looks up startled at a sound entering the glade, before settling back to my ruminating on the beauty of the play of light on the water…

Keeping Lookout

It’s been a busy couple of days IRL in terms of things finally getting done.  The replacement blinds that were ordered months ago were installed; the outdoor pavers that needed to be removed before construction of our new enlarged lanai are gone; and the absolute best is that I finally have new sunglasses with a stronger reading prescription so that I can (yes!!!!) actually see to read clearly when needing sunglasses (and living in Florida I just about always need them during the day lol).  My time in SL has obviously suffered a bit with so much happening, but I absolutely managed to put together a fabulous casual summer look… now I’m off to enjoy it!!!! Happy shopping!

The Magic of Encanto

I haven’t personally seen the Disney movie Encanto, but my RL counterpart DID shop and purchase an Encanto costume for her granddaughter who absolutely adores it.  My wings were all aflutter when I saw  this amazing and seemingly Encanto-inspired outfit for ME!!!  Talk about living the fantasy!!!  I found myself searching the grid for the right Latin-style setting to further enhance this glorious look, and found the most amazing SIM where exploration totally distracted me from my goal for longer than I am willing to admit…  Time for a siesta, while I plan out my next adventure!!!  Sprinkles a little fairy dust as I move into the cool interiors to wait out the sun…

Misbehaving

Everything, every situation, has its own rules.  Some are set by others; some are set individually based on your own wants, needs, goals, morals &/or ethical code.  Some are relatively small and inconsequential (like making the bed or how you set the table); others have huge societal ramifications.  There are prices to pay no matter what you choose, because every choice has an impact, no matter how small, on the next moment and the moment after that and so on.  There are many books and movies — not to mention real history — that focus on the ramifications of a single choice in a single moment of time, sometimes as seemingly random as choosing this seat or that one.  Which is probably why we all set rules in an effort to control our personal lives in some sort of orderly fashion, so that we can move forward minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day, without being paralyzed in indecision (which still happens all too frequently lol).  And we teach (or try to teach) those rules to our children (including the 4-legged ones!) to help them safely navigate the world as well.  One of the beauties here in SL is that many of those INDIVIDUAL rules don’t apply… you CAN jump off a tall building without getting hurt; you CAN swim in deep water (even with sharks!) without worry; you CAN go fight zombies without actually getting hurt; and on and on.   There are still SOCIETAL rules, because otherwise individual rights tend to rub up against each other. But they’re pretty non-restrictive.  So what’s with all this pontification about rules?  I’ve just been thinking a lot about individual rights lately, and how so many people think that their personal beliefs should give them control over other people’s individual choices, which are necessary for a civilized society and which are just exertions of power.  And a conversation I had with my daughter about the time-out we give our kids & pets for misbehaving, for not following those rules we set,  just brought it all to the forefront of my pre-coffee brain this morning.  And on that note, I think I’ll go get my coffee and officially begin the day, both in SL and out.  Enjoy!!!!

Sometimes I have so much to say here on these pages… other times (like this), not so much.  I am currently reigning as temporary goddess of this part of the forest, and am spending a great deal of my time in quiet contemplation of all its hidden beauty, doing what I can for its more defenseless inhabitants.  There’s just so much going on, with so much shopping (well worth it in my case, I ADORE this look!!!!), but it’s important to take this time to refresh and recharge…  smiles softly as a young fawn approaches me for the first time…  summer is such a fabulous time to enjoy all the blessings of nature!

Color, color, color!!! Is there ever enough color in the world?  Don’t get me wrong, neutrals have their place in the world, but they’re just so, well, neutral!  I love being surrounded by color, wearing color, creating color… color creates a vibrance in the air and just makes me feel so alive!  I even prefer having the blues to having the blahs… Tosses some fairy dust into the flames and sends energy out into the world… May color fill your day and chase any drabs away!!

I feel so bad for my poor human counterpart.  Real life has been quite stressful the last several days, trying to get things in order for a huge overseas trip that begins at the end of this week, with seemingly simple tasks morphing into monumental headaches.  I had to literally beg for a few hours of time to explore more of the exceptionally creative Fantasy Faire — open only until May 8th!!!! — and to create this third look.  Sometimes it’s amazing what you can do under pressure (then again, other times you get crushed lol).  But I don’t have a single moment to waste… I hope to get at least one more fantastic trip through the faire before going to sleep for most of the month…  But oh, the wonders I’ve seen!!!!  Don’t take my word, go see them yourself, now before time runs out and the portals close for another year!!!!

Taking A Time Out

Sighs, I need this… I need to just take a little time out, and sit somewhere and soak up a little sun and the beauty of nature… to relax and de-stress.  One week from tomorrow I’m leaving on my first big trip since COVID, and it’s the longest trip I’ve ever taken as an adult.  I’ll be traveling for 2-and-a-half weeks in Europe, which is waaaaay more than I’ve done since I first graduated college (and that was ages ago lol).  So needless to say I’m stressed… so much to handle, so many details, PLUS all the regular day-to-day things.  It should be more than worth it, but still, this last week should be a doozy.  This is almost definitely my last “human” post until my return the last week of May, although my fae other will still have a few posts about Fantasy Faire right up until we leave.  On top of all the real life craziness, it will be the longest I’ve been away from SL in more than 15 years, and I’ll have zero access the entire time, so it should be interesting both to see how much I’ll miss my “other life” and then to re-immerse.  Well, time is a-wasting, and still so much to do (and this time, it’s NOT just shopping lol though admittedly there’s some of that too).  Wish me bon voyage, and have a fabulous few weeks!  Take care of the grid for me!!!

I Wish…

In some ways, fae are not so different from humans.  We too have wishes, ours just tend to be more centered around nature and the heart, and less about power and prestige (though there are certainly some of THOSE types in my world too).  Right now, there is just so much unrest in that real world out there, so much pain, that my current wishes are less about me and my world and more about “out there.”  But in times of stress, this fae believes that surrounding yourself with the beauty of nature and the wonder of fantasy becomes even MORE important… a small escape into a stressless environment where peace, love and beauty reign.  Wishing that for you, me, and all who share the desire to live in harmony…
