I’m often teased in real life for having a menagerie at home, though we currently only have one dog, two cats, & two parakeets.  I say “only” because for a while there we had two dogs & three cats.  What can I say, I love animals!  But I hardly think that a few cats, dogs & birds constitutes a menagerie.  My home in SL on the other hand MIGHT just qualify.  I currently have a dog (he runs around in the back, chasing his tail & lots of stuff only he can see, & digs), 5 cats (& am wavering on birthing another since I have several “boxed” kittens), a family of ducks, two peacocks, a raccoon, an otter, & a whale.  Oh, & lots of birds all over the place.  It’s possible of course that I may have left something out, & of course this doesn’t include all the non-rezzed animals that are in inventory or all the holdable pets.  As a kid, that whole concept of Dr. Doolittle talking to the animals really sparked my imagination, and to this day I love books written from the animals’ perspective.  Bottom line, I love my animals RL or SL, and I’m always stopping to look at and admire other animals I see.  Something about a bird or a groundhog or a dog or a cat, just makes me smile…  So I guess I’m not JUST a crazy cat lady, I’m a crazy animal lady lol!  😉

I’ll admit it, I’m a people-watcher.  I always have been.  Some of my fondest memories growing up in Manhattan (yes, I’m one of THOSE), is just sitting somewhere like the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, withor without my best friend, coffee in hand, and watching the world go by.  In the bad weather, the venue changed to a coffee shop window (yes, there were coffee shops back then!!), but the activity remained the same.  A lot has changed in my life since those days, but I still love to sit and watch, everywhere I go.  Do I judge? Absolutely.  Do I get inspiration and ideas?  Definitely.   But let’s face it… one of the best places for pure people watching enjoyment is on the beach… hunk watching is just SOOOO much fun!!!  The whales, the fails, and everything inbetween!!!  Oooh la la, that one’s definitely caught my eye!  😉

Well, the last several days have been absolutely miserable weatherwise here in the northeast US in RL… hot, humid, oppressive to the point of high heat warnings (well over 100 degrees with the heat index)… but the weather seems to be breaking even as I type, with storm clouds moving in and the temperatures finally, FINALLY!, beginning to drop.  It was so hot, we had to actually cancel our previous plans as I had mentioned, and yes, we went to the movies where a lovely time was had by all, as we stayed cool and gorged ourselves on buttered popcorn… mmmmm good!  Still wondering what’s happened to all my RL summer activities, but now that I’ve seen a summer movie, I at least feel like summer has begun!!!!  No such problems here in SL, where it’s been nonstop summer action and fun… though it looks like change is on the horizon, and it’s time to pack up and go home, at least for a little while!  😉

So I’ve been a busy, busy girl the last several days, working on all the promises I’ve made myself for things I want to learn.  First up, I’m finally teaching myself how to use the Black Dragon viewer. I will say that the new version made it much easier to move around than the last time I tried, and I was much MUCH more careful about increasing too many sliders since last time I not only ended up being unable to take photographs, I started crashing upon logging in and eventually just gave up.  This time, I’m sticking to it!  In fact, this is my very first blog post made with the Black Dragon viewer.  I’ll admit that I ALSO have a Firestorm pic that came out really really well (at least IMHO; it seems that whenever I really like a pic, relatively few other people do lol), but the quality and depth of colors you get with this viewer are incomparable. I can only surmise that my pix will improve as I learn how to manipulate all the settings, since many that I’m used to using are gone, and there are lots of new ones to learn.  On top of it, many of my favorite windlights are not included, but I now have the power to adjust light in ways I never even imagined.  So much fun!!!!  As for what else I’m working on, well, it’s still got quite a ways to go, so I think I’ll just keep it to myself for now as I continue to work on making my dreams come true…  😉

Throughout life, I’ve learned that even when feeling at my most alone, my most abandoned, there can be moments of pure bliss.  Sometimes they can be easy to find, like the warmth of the sun on a lonely beach, or the rays of sun streaking through dark clouds.  Other times, they require a little — or even a lot of — work to uncover, which means digging deep for motivation rather than just sinking into that feeling of desolation.  If you’re lucky, nature provides that lift and throws something out there for you to just stumble over and lift you up, even if only for a moment or two.  But that breath of fresh air, of feeling at one with the world, can be enough to give you that boost and keep you going, almost like an instant recharge of your batteries.  If only we could swap them out for a fresh set!!!  But we can’t, so we do what we must, pull ourselves up by our bootstraps, keep moving onwards and upwards, for one more day… wow, I really do need that vacation… 😉

It’s absolutely suffocating outside today, so incredibly humid I can barely breathe.  I find this kind of stifling weather totally unbearable… UNLESS I’m in the tropics, with waving palm trees, ocean breezes, frozen drinks, music, and beautiful sunsets… Unfortunately, I’m at home here in the northeast, but at least I have my air conditioning!!!  We are scheduled to attend an outdoor concert tonight for a local philharmonic at an historic site, but they’re predicting torrential downpours with lightning and thunder, so the odds are I’ll be inworld instead… either way, I’ll be dreaming of my tropical isle…  😉
