And just like that, it’s February.  So far, it’s a month of a still-freezing polar vortex, Valentine’s Day, and a special acknowledgment for me when logging in today, in that I learned that I’m a Blogger of the Month for 7 Deadly s[K]ins!!! http://The Flowers that Bloom in the Springhttp://Introducing ABBII’ve stubbornly got the Gilbert & Sullivan lyrics and thoughts of spring in my head as I watch the snow squalls of the polar vortex through my windows.  If I couldn’t escape to the freshness and (imagined) warmth of spring and summer here in Second Life, I could see myself succumbing to cabin fever and just losing it.  As my recent posts all attest, I definitely have spring on the brain.  And if the essence of spring is rebirth and newness, then in some ways, I’m living it as well… not just in my new home, but with new sponsors, and in the new looks and new designers I’m finding, and of course sharing with you! 😉

I have been a Tonic gal ever since I made the switch to a mesh body, and I’ve never once regretted my choice. To this day, I believe that Tonic is the most natural-looking of ALL the mesh bodies, especially when it comes to curves… and let’s face it, I’m all about the curves (the blog is named Ceja’s Curvy Chic after all!)… However, and it’s a big however, Second Life clothing designers just aren’t keeping up with my taste or that of my fellow Tonic beauties. Yes, sometimes other sizes fit perfectly with a tweak of the alpha HUD, something I’ve tried to always mention in copy.  But it’s a fact that as a blogger it can sometimes be a struggle to show clothing at its best when it just doesn’t really fit and it takes an incredible amount of time to try to make it work, time that I simply don’t always have. This outfit (which I’m blogging because it was supposedly at Designer Circle but isn’t!) was the one that finally put me over the edge. With this neckline that totally frames this awesome tattoo, I definitely wanted to blog it, but even wearing two different sized cardigans, bits were either still popping through or visible parts were alpha’d out. After hours of tweaking and adjusting, I bit the bullet and decided to get a 2nd body from among the most popular brands so that not just this outfit but all the others down the road would fit.  My goal was to look as close to my current figure as possible, and with some experimentation I was able to easily achieve that with Slink Physique.  After purchase, I’ll admit that I ran into some issues getting my tattoo to show which caused me to reach out to Slink customer support because that was part of the whole point… within 10 minutes, I not only had a response, but they had checked me out, and as an experienced blogger who credits everything I was also gifted an Hourglass body so that I could play with it and hopefully blog about that body too! WOW! Completely unexpected, and completely blown away!  This will open up lots of new blogging opportunities in all kinds of designs that I haven’t been able to model before… so many exciting things to look forward to!

Do you ever feel like you’re in a race, but you don’t know for what?  I used to call it “hamster in a cage”, running without ever getting anywhere, and not a medal in sight lol.  Somehow when I put on this jacket (GREAT little leather jacket, isn’t it?) it immediately made me think of racing, and then my mind was off, down all those memory lanes. The picture I REALLY wanted was with some sexy yellow sports car, maybe even a racing car, but frankly, I stumbled upon this and my post-holiday pocketbook said “that works!”…  So no medals once again, but I’m looking first-class, and in my book, that’s the only award I need! 😉

Not Enough Time

Today is my 11th Anniversary in Second Life. Yup, 11 years, in SL with the same guy, and I know for a fact that’s a bit unusual, a rare “rose” we’ve cultivated.  During that time, we’ve helped each other through a lot of real life difficulties; we’ve both lost jobs, lost our dads, had all kinds of personal struggles, and I have to say, having someone who thoroughly understands and supports you — but is totally outside your day-to-day life with no real world connection — can do more for your mental well-being than you might realize.  Like any relationship, though, it’s not always easy.  These days our time together is extremely limited… the “thorns” if you will… though maybe it’s also why we’re still so thrilled to find time to be together, who knows?  All I know is that time seems to go both so fast and so slow… there’s never enough of it and yet sometimes I feel like all I do is wait lol!  Ahhh the paradox of time… Though thinking about time is why I purposely chose this particular gown for our anniversary celebration… in a strange way, it seems to capture the essence of time, it just has that period glamour about it, that special allure… 😉

One of my favorite all-time quotes is “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans” (which is often mistakenly attributed to John Lennon who included it in lyrics to Beautiful Boy which is where I first heard it), and all I can say is that my life is certainly not looking the way I thought it would. This is probably true of most people, but of course, it only really seems true and meaningful and poignant when it’s your own life.  The fact is I love my blogging but I aged out of my chosen field a few years ago, and with the world being as it is, it’s becoming more and more important that I find something, anything, to start bringing some cash in, rather than be choosy and “so hard to please.”  Real Life is definitely overrated… even in the chill of winter there’s nothing like escaping to my little oasis in Second Life and feel the waves gently rocking the boat… 😉

So winter is definitely getting me down. On top of that, I can barely even watch the news any more. I have spring on the brain.
