Seems like I’m always admitting things in this forum of mine; today I’ll admit (and yes, not for the first time) that I am addicted to KittyCats.  I’m an animal lover in real life too; I currently have a dog, two cats, and two parakeets, but there have been times when the menagerie has been quite a bit larger.  Here in Second Life, I honestly don’t even know offhand how many cats are currently alive and running around.  Not all are still breeding, but the AI embedded in these little kitties is so adorable that some of them have very definite personalities (they talk to you lol, hold comfies when they sleep, blow butterflies when they’re happy) and you tend to get attached.  On the other hand, they “age out” of breeding at 120 days, so there is always an impetus to birth new ones and breed for new furs and other characteristics (not that you need to breed; many people have just one or two as pets; I had a special Firestorm kitty for years before I decided to breed just one… and that was sooo many kitties ago).  Sounds silly?  I’ll agree wholeheartedly, it IS silly, but I still absolutely am hooked lol…  Is it a catastrophe? Well, you’d have to ask my partner, who does occasionally complain about tripping over cats as they scamper around (which is why they’re restricted to the ground floor of our house; upstairs is a cat-free zone).  This shot is actually taken at what my bestie and I call the “cat nursery” at our shared land… cats and kittens galore!  Oh, and they love to go shopping! They even ask for it… grins and runs off to the store to buy more cat food…

I’m already bored with winter (yes, even here in Florida!), so I’m taking a short blogging break from all that snow (who knows, the break may be only one post, but still, a break is a break).  With Covid ramping up so, I’m spending more and more time at home, and I’m finding that means lots of conversations with my animals (a dog, two cats, and two parakeets).  I thought I’d bring some of that into my Second Life as well!  Just like the rest of the world, I’m waiting for life to get back to normal, whatever that is.  In the meantime, thank goodness for online shopping and everything else… which brings me to my standard tagline lol!  Happy shopping!

Enough already, right? The holiday shopping season starts so early now, and it’s already been such a tough year, I am just so over it at this point.  It’s just enough already.  Completely shopped out, and that’s saying something for a shopaholic like me.  Though I should be specific… I’m done with HOLIDAY shopping IRL… I’m NEVER done with the fabulous shopping available here on the grid.  Maybe because with unlimited space it’s not like buying something new makes me let go of something older but still loved.  On that note, a great new look to share… and HAPPY SHOPPING!!!!

I’ve had almost a week of near hysteria with missing documents from a mortgage refinancing back in 1998 (22 years ago!!!!) threatening the closing on the sale of our house in NY.  I’ve been a wreck, but things have been worked out and we — TADA! — have a closing date!!! It’s a good thing because we are ill equipped to handle the costs of two homes as far beyond our initial Sept closing date as we’ve gone, plus furnishing the new home, and our credit cards are maxing out.  I won’t totally settle down until the paperwork is totally done, but at least now I see a clear road ahead.  I’ve barely had time or energy to come inworld but I DID succeed in snagging a fabulous office chair from a consignment shop, so at least now I’m somewhat more comfortable when I’m on the computer. I’ve promised myself that I will be back to a more regular if somewhat diminished blogging schedule for December; hopefully everything will go as planned! I realize how extremely fortunate I am to have such good things happening in my life at a time when so many people are suffering, and I also know that it’s something that I worked very hard for a very, very, very long time.  I also know that an awful lot of people have been forced into much less-positive moves, against their will. But I do have to also say that this is EXHAUSTING.  No matter how many things I cross off the list, even more are being added.  We did have a few pieces of furniture delivered today, so now at least we have chairs to sit on.  But the POD arrived as well, and we have just a couple of days to unload it all and then start the process of figuring out every item’s new home. And then, and then, and then, and then, and then…  grabbing even a short bit of time for myself to just “be” is priceless… hmmm, maybe this is actually a self-portrait (though NEVER in shoes like these)?!?  Happy shopping!

Trunk or Treat

Who knew that decorating pickup trucks for Halloween was a thing? Certainly not a city girl like me, but I have to say, it’s a pretty awesome idea! After accidentally tripping over the phrase in Google, I found out that it’s HUGE, & not just for pick-up trucks, but for anything with a trunk.  It’s considered an “alternative celebration”, & this year especially when most door-to-door trick or treating is “on hold”, it’s a great way to show off that Halloween imagination.  Some of the creativity on display is truly impressive!  I’m happy to be able to incorporate just a touch of it here in this post (though a bit spookier & with less “stuff” than how Trunk or Treat seems to be intended lol), since with moving and all in RL there is simply no time for Halloween decorations at my house this year…  Happy shopping!

  • Outfit:  GiuliaDesign – Ruoyo.  Not really my every-day style since I don’t tend to go “dark”, but absolutely perfect for the Halloween season or for those with more goth leanings in their style.  In black (of course) but with a perfect amount of color added down the laced & lace-edged sleeves (which are to die for) as well as a wide swath down the front of the dress.  With one of those really high “evil queen” type of collars, amazing strapped thigh-high boots, & a stylish eye patch, this outfit is a standout! Halloween season is a confusing time for fantasy creatures. Suddenly it’s hard to share that immediate recognition of like-kind when all these humans are disguising themselves and wearing wings, horns, tails and more.  On the other hand, it’s possible to get a better sense of human culture when you’re not singled out for being different but are instead accepted as another “person” getting into the spirit of the holidays.  The best news though is that suddenly there is a wealth of outfits and accessories available from designers who don’t normally cater to our kind, not to mention all the special events and festivals!  I might need to use a little magic to expand my closet, but oh, it will be so worth it!
