Fae with Blue-Eyed Wonder

As the real world out there grows in strife and the miasma of war, my world of fantasy is becoming even more precious.  It’s a haven to at least temporarily put those real life worries on the back shelf and distract myself with hugely important virtual decisions that really matter only to ME.  One of those critical choices is SKIN.  IRL you can only do much about the skin you’re in…  but here on the grid, there are so many choices, so many ways to be.  The Skin Fair is on, and that’s where many designers gather to show their latest.  Two sims full (and I DO mean full!!!), it can be overwhelming, to the point where (a) you give up and leave or (b) you only “hit” the huge brand names.  Both would be a shame, because this fair is an unparalleled opportunity to sample skins from the relatively smaller and/or newer skin designers to create that look which is truly your own.  For MY fae look, I LOVE Loa (which is why I became one of their bloggers!!!)… their skins just make my wings beat a bit faster.  Maybe they’ll do the same for you! I do love being a fae, with my horns and wings, but sometimes I love the challenge of transforming into some otherworldly creature.  It’s just so exciting  to become someone else, someone totally unique and different!  And let’s face it… isn’t that why we’re all here in Second Life to begin with?  Even fantasy folk enjoy that exploration into other parts of our imagination.  As a creature of air and land, this opportunity to become more one with the water world was one I just couldn’t resist (though I admittedly kept my wings lol).  There’s a whole event dedicated to this world of Atlantis… the creativity on display is simply astounding, whether you always role-play as a mer being or if you just want to dip your toes (or tail!) into the water, you really can’t go wrong with a trip under the sea!  Happy shopping!

I know, I know, I’m breaking one of the cardinal rules of this blog… I’m doing what we have dubbed “a double post,” or a single blog post that features two distinct photos.  They’re just both so necessary to the story… the romantic fantasy of this stunning gown combined with the dramatic fantasy of my face, a true flight of fancy demanding both the full shot AND the closeup. In this situation, you just can’t have one without the other.  So why choose? That’s the freedom of being a fae and, let’s face it, of having your own blog lol! You not only get to make the rules, you also get to break them whenever you see fit!  Let’s see where else my flight of fancy takes me… you just never know what wondrous finds await just beyond the horizon!!!! Sighs, my wings are drooping, I’m so tired from all the holiday shopping… the “standard” weekend sales are often exhausting, but all these Black Friday sales???  Not to mention that SL had to throw it’s own brand of action into the mix, making it extremely sloooooooow to attach/detach anything, so trying on demos (which is a must, since no amount of fairy dust will fix something that just doesn’t work on my head, my body, my shape, and so on).  I’m just going to sit pretty for a bit, relax and unwind with a bit of nature and some furry friends to replenish my spirit and my strength.  I see more shopping ahead, but for now, a much needed break to enjoy some of my recent fantastic finds.  May a little fairy dust brighten your shopping excursions in the days ahead!!!

Why is there so much stress and distress in the world?  It saddens my heart, and all of the personal stress my human counterpart has been undergoing (some minor surgeries, end-of-year financial decisions, hosting a major dinner for the first time in her new home) is cascading over onto me.  In one way, I’m happy to share the burden and lighten her load as much as I can, but in the other way!!! I want nothing at all to do with all those human things, and the only stress I want to experience is in dealing with the crowds at major shopping events while I search for the perfect accessory or makeup, or battling evil, or questing, or… well, you get the idea.  If I’m built for escapist fantasy, then what is real life stress doing intruding into my existence? Well, here’s wishing for a brighter tomorrow, where stress is minor, and my Second Life world can remain peaceful, and loving, and fun.  Happy shopping!

Even a role-playing fae likes to dress up sometimes and try something a little different.  This opportunity to go Egyptian and dress for the age of the Pharoahs was one I couldn’t pass by!  I was tempted to look for the “King Tut dance” (think Steve Martin on classic Saturday Night Live), but to my mind, Queens Nefertiti and Cleopatra were way too elegant for that!  The look was really fun to put together, and even more fun to wear about the grid.  Both Egyptian items are available at the Fallen Gods Anniversary Market, which also has a hunt going on as part of the celebration.  I highly recommend taking a trip to the Land of the Pharoahs,  checking out all the fun items and events, and exploring this unique and creative sim!!!  Happy shopping!

Cancer.  The word just sends a chill right through me.  I don’t know anyone, anyone at all, whose life hasn’t been affected in one way or another.  And although I myself have been fortunate enough not to be impacted in my immediate family, it has hit that next ring of in-laws and cousins, as well as the rings of close friends and of neighbors.  That’s why it was so important to me to join forces with Strides Against Cancer and lend my small blogging efforts (not to mention my personal lindens) to the SL Renaissance Festival in its efforts to raise $10,000 USD for the cause…  after the first 2 days, more than $1,000,000L — that’s $4,000 USD — had already been raised.  Won’t you join me at the festival and lend your support? Hear ye, hear ye!!! I’m all a-flutter!  I’ve officially joined the blogging team for the SL Renaissance Festival 2021, which opens today Sept 24th.  That means I’ve been thinking medieval and waiting for what seems like forever!!!!  This is only the second year for this now annual event, which has at its heart raising much needed support and funds for the fight against breast cancer.  Anyone who follows this blog knows that both my human counterpart and I do whatever we can, whenever we can, to help support this worthy cause.  I mean, come on, what’s better than shopping with a purpose?  And the Ren Fest combines that most worthy of causes with anything and everything medieval!!!!  For a fae like myself, that’s way WAY up there on the list of favorite things!  Hoozah!!!
