As much as I love getting my human avatar dressed in an exceptional outfit and working to create/select the perfect (or as near perfect as I can accomplish) setting for that look, I have to admit that nothing stirs my creative juices like blogging fantasy fashion. It’s just so unique, and can go far beyond the creative use of color and texture into skillful execution of truly imaginative design ideas. That creativity lingers in the clothing itself, and seems to stimulate my poor blogger’s brain into striving to do more than just create a setting but to build a scene that fits into a story line (a secret one lol since only I can hear it). I’ve been considering changing my blogging style for these fantasy pics… departing from this chatty stream of consciousness prattle and instead writing the scene for the shot . I’m a bit fearful of the challenge to be honest; whether or not I can do it successfully at all, let alone every single time. I definitely don’t want my posts to get hung up any more than they already are by real life; somehow I don’t think my sponsors would understand that I was delayed by screenwriting lol. But don’t be surprised when one of my fantasy blogs suddenly takes a turn into short story land (VERY short story). It could be fun, it could be a chore, it might help, it might do nothing… I guess I’ll only know by trying my hand at it. A Queen’s Work is Never Done

What a weekend! After what seems like forever of trying to get my COVID vaccination scheduled while everyone around me was receiving theirs, we got the email telling us that we could now schedule our appointments. As someone who has an auto-immune condition, my relief was palpable, and we immediately scheduled for the next day (yesterday). We were lucky in that the site that came through (we were registered at 4 sites, and had been trying to get through to Publix scheduling and had traveled down to a first come-first serve site three times without success) was in a field 5 minutes from our house. Everything we’d heard and read was about the efficiency of this site, how it would be a maximum of 45 minutes from leaving our home to getting back. Unfortunately, that was NOT our experience, due to torrential rains in the morning which flooded the field and turned it into a mud bog. We arrived on time for our scheduled 1:30P appointments to be told that the field was closed and that we were to go to the high school that was basically across the street. No easy task. No one was there directing traffic or where to go for almost an hour, a major thoroughfare was blocked, resulting in a bit of mass insanity. Eventually, things were sorted and we ended up on a long, long, extremely long line filled with people who had appointments ranging from 8:30A (it turned out that morning appointments had been canceled and everyone was told to come back at 1P), through the afternoon. We had made sure to bring water and books to read, but other folks had not; lack of bathroom facilities was a huge problem since the line was filled with senior citizens, and the biggest issue was NO COMMUNICATION. An email was finally sent out at 3:30P (why nothing until then????). We DID receive our shots at made it home at 4:30P… not that long when you consider what other people are going through, but WAAAAAY longer than anticipated, we were VERY hungry since we had planned for lunch afterwards, and I personally was ready to burst. Yes, the weather had handed them a curve ball, and they were very efficient once you got up to the site personnel, but IMHO they should have (A) had a backup rain plan rather than first start scrambling to get one, and (B) they should have alerted everyone BEFORE heading over to wait on one line to then have to make it across to another. Still, we are lucky enough to have received our first dose, and we will certainly be prepared for contingencies like this when we go back in a month to get our 2nd shot. Not a very romantic note, but still a positive one… so I wish you all a Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Shopping!

I have to say it: I do love being a fae. Years ago, long before my blogging days, I had opted to play almost exclusively as fae (my partner played as elf). At some point, for some reason lost in the mists of time (but before the advent of mesh in SL), we switched back to human form and our fantasy selves were forgotten. As I’ve said in earlier posts, my fae heart reawakened last year with the Fantasy Faire, and it’s been a true joy to have my wings back! My look obviously needed to evolve and I’m finally happy with where it is. As a well-dressed fae, my wardrobe also needed an overhaul, so when I find an outfit like Aerin, one that exhibits the very essence of what I look for in a fantasy outfit, it’s like the dawning sun in my face, making my little fae heart skip a beat and my wings beat joyously!

Outfit: Poet’s Heart – Aerin. Incredibly detailed with fabulously rich textures, Aerin is sized only for Maitreya. Wizard’s Wonderland

Sooo tired. Still living in a pile of boxes, living without living room furniture except for ONE semi-recliner that we are all sharing (our son is here for a while since his home is in lockdown mode, and then we had an additional guest for 2 days over Thanksgiving, Still dealing with house issues, though the biggest one has been solved (it seems silly, but we only had one garage door opener that worked; no one knew the code to open the door, and resetting didn’t work. Turned out the unit on the door was broken. Now at least there are no more calls about being locked out or wanting to leave and not being able to close the door lol.) Still adjusting to life in the South. BUT we are at least starting to slowly enter in that life, participating a bit in all that is offered here. So many activities to choose from, and so many that are hold during COVID. Between not having a desk, having company, and having so much to run around and try to take care of, being inworld has been exceptionally difficult. My blogging has suffered a lot, and I feel guilty about not being to meet my commitments. I’ve been sitting here for what seems like forever unable to even name this pic lol. In response, I’ve been forced to leave some of my sponsors, and will probably need to leave a few more. It’s hard to do… I blog for designers/events because I like their work, and as someone who spent her work life in the world of marketing/advertising, I believe that my small efforts can indeed have an impact (albeit a small one) on brand recognition, store traffic, and sales. I mean who can resist a gorgeous gown like this if they have a taste for the world of fantasy? Certainly not me lol! But I can only do what I can do in these circumstances, as I continue to work to improve them, and hope that my remaining sponsors understand and believe in me as much as I believe in them.

An All Hallows Eve Dance

I’m not really into the dark side of things, but for Halloween I absolutely dip my toe, though I definitely avoid the truly ghoulish. I like items with a lot of creativity, that have a bit of spookiness or creepiness without crossing over into “yuck”. I’m so happy to say that I’m almost overwhelmed with items that fit my style and taste this year. I’ve been tempted to create a whole story about my scene here, but frankly, my RL house is in pre-move shambles (my desk is gone!!!), and my creative juices are a bit thin when it comes to words… But shopping is such a sheer joy at this time of year (though let’s be honest — when is it not?). Enjoy!

I Choose Evil

http://I’m so excited that I’m starting to build a small set of quality fantasy sponsors! I just find it so much fun to give Thea her wings and see where she lands… this time, it was right in the middle of a land of Enchantment, where she opted to exercise the glorious evil side of fantasy. OMG, such fun to glory in being mean and self-centered!!!! A Poet’s Heart

I get so excited when I have the opportunity to blog something that falls under “fantasy,” although I guess some would argue that EVERYTHING in Second Life fits under that headline. But for me, there is a very obvious difference… the world of fantasy is one that doesn’t reflect modern life, so it includes all the fantasy creatures (fairies, elves, mermaids, centaurs, furries, and more), as well as medieval, steampunk, and futuristic genres. I’m sure there are more that aren’t coming to mind, but the point is that they all represent things that just don’t fit into our everyday existence. As I’ve said previously, many years ago I had created an alt to play in SL as a fae, rather than “dress up” my regular avatar. Doing fantasy as Ceja felt like wearing a costume; dressing in my fantasy clothes as Thea felt more “real” and part of every day because it’s just who she was. Back when the Fantasy Faire was happening, I was excited to revive and update my fae existence, and now really yearn to blog more fantasy.
