Real life has not been easy for the last couple of weeks.  The level of care at the memory care facility where my mom has been living has deteriorated so.  We couldn’t get in to see what was happening during COVID, but now that we have access again, we can see how bad things have gotten.  What’s even worse, because supervision is lacking, there now seem to be repeated altercations between residents to the point where they become physical.  The end result was that my mother was pushed, fell, and broke her hip.  She had surgery, is in rehab, and we’ve decided to move her to a memory care facility near me where there are lots of choices, rather than where she’s been (which is over 3 hours away near my sister, where the choices are far fewer AND more expensive).  So lots of running around looking at places, etc.  On top of it all, my mom still had her elderly dog living with her; even if any of the facilities up here allowed that (which they don’t), we decided that it was no longer a positive thing.  Since my sister “can’t handle” having a dog (even a little shitzu mix like this one) I’ve inherited her.  I already have a large dog, two cats, and two parakeets, so it’s not like she’s going to impact my lifestyle, but I can’t say that for the rest of the family.  It’s always a lot for another living thing to be integrated into a functioning household.  The cats are terrified, and haven’t left the bedroom in days… we’ll give it a little bit of time to see if everything settles down to a new normal, but I’m certainly not going to sacrifice their happiness for my mom’s dog.  I’m certainly willing to give it some time (my husband a bit less so lol!), but I have agreed that if necessary we will rehome her so that everyone is happy.  Hopefully it won’t come to that, but in the event that it does, lots of people in my community would love to adopt a small dog, but since she is my mom’s beloved pet, I definitely want to give it my best shot.  Bottom line though, I’ve been eating up a storm due to stress and succumbing to my greatness weakness (ice cream is definitely NOT what you want to be splurging on when you’ve been dieting for months!), and I’ve barely been inworld, let alone had time to do all what’s required for a blog.  Hopefully that will change, and change soon, and I’ll be able to do more than bop in for an hour or two and get this sweet tooth of mine re-tamed!!!  I did of course still find time for my weekend shopping lol, and I wish you a good week, filled with fabulous finds! I don’t know if all fantasy folk feel as connected to nature as I do.  Perhaps it’s the woodland blood flowing through my veins, but I’m always at my most serene when surrounded by lush natural environments.  I recently moved out of Linden housing in their themed fantasy environment and onto my own land… I was fortunate enough to find almost exactly what I wanted… land high on a high overlooking a river that is a “protected” channel (nothing can be built on it, perfect!), with several other fantasy lots nearby, and all of us surrounded by abandoned land.  I have no idea how long the neighborhood will stay as open and natural (mainland never seems to say pristine for very long), but for now I’m so happy with my little home lot (though I’m craving more and more land, like the human has).  There are just so many wondrous items out there, and I’d love to give them all a home, but sadly my space is quite limited so I need to be very very picky.  I’m happy to share my most fabulous finds, and I hope you like them too.  Sprinkling a little fairy dust, wishing you a wonderful day!  Happy shopping!

Fantavatar & Moonstruck – Forest Tree Wedding Arch.  There’s a Greek myth about an old couple (Baucis & Philemon) who —  as a reward for having shown hospitality to two disguised gods testing humanity as they always did — were granted their wish to be turned into two intertwining trees upon their death.  Two trees locked in a lovers embrace has become a not common theme in art, but to see it exemplified so magnificently in nature (well, in SL nature!)…  How absolutely fitting for a fae!!!  I first saw this amazing landscaping item at the Fantasy Faire, & built part of my new lot around it as a focal point, using it as the “gateway” to the upper part of my land (built on a steep hillside).  45 meters tall, with 7 foliages & 2 barks in a changing HUD, the arch is a stunning addition that weaves fantasy, magic, & romance into a beautiful work of fantasy nature that adds a sense of wonder to ANY garden, fantasy or otherwise.  Copy/modify, with a LI of only 8!!!!  You really should see this in person, so beautiful!!!

Summer is here!  It seems that I’m about to find out the truth behind all the warnings that summers here are brutal.  From what I’m told, some people have a very hard time handling it; others just seem to take it in stride and enjoy it with a slight shifting of activities. We shall see which category I fall into! Moonstruck.  Its definition is “unable to think or act normally, especially because of being in love”.  (It’s also the title of one of my all-time favorite movies, with the line “Snap Out of It!”, but that’s for another post, a human one lol!) The minute I put on this outfit, I felt ready to join the jetset crowd.  Images of yachts and unending days of sun on the water flooded into my brain.  I could just hear Robin Cook talking in my head lol! Well, that will never happen IRL, but it can ABSOLUTELY happen in Second Life.  Just to see how it felt, I bopped around to a few of the luxury yacht designers, and all I have to say is WOW!  If I could even choose, I definitely don’t have the prims to keep one moored at my dock… which means renting a special slip for it somewhere.  Hmmm, definitely something to add to the list to think about lol!  Just as IRL, I’m just not sure if I can afford the lifestyle lol!  But one thing is for sure… I can definitely rock the look!  Happy shopping!

I’ve had this blog basically ready to go since yesterday, but then life intervenes, things change, and what mattered to you yesterday just isn’t that important today.  Death has touched our family again.  It happens to everyone in time, and this was something that was long expected, but it is still a shock in its finality.  It’s the hardest part of life, one that always brings you up short, no matter when or how or why.  I need to let it settle with me for a bit, so I’m really not in the mood for my normal prattling on about this or that.  Life goes on, and I am comforted by the fact that his was filled with pain and was no longer “living”, and that now he is at peace and released from suffering.  Wishing everyone and their loved ones health, because as I’ve learned over the years, without it, happiness is hard to achieve…

Today’s the day…  the 2021 Fantasy Faire is going to end.  I’m so very thankful that it was extended through today the 12th (it was scheduled to end on the 9th): in the last few days I’ve managed to more deeply experience some realms that I’d barely touched upon earlier, not to mention pick up so many wonderful finds for both my home & garden and for my appearance.  Fantasy Faire has already relayed more than $86,000USD to help fight against cancer, and I’m proud to say that more than a few of my precious lindens are in that count!  (In fact, though my heart and mind are sad that FF is ending, my wallet is very very happy!).  I do want to say that I’ve been so very impressed by so many fantasy designers, and have been inspired to take some new risks and experiment with my look more than before. .. I even went out and bought some new land to create my own fantasy hideaway, rather than continue living in my Linden treehouse (that’s where yesterday’s post was, on my new land!!!)  But I couldn’t let the Faire end without at least one more post, one more character… not a warrior, not a princess, but more of a priestess, getting ready to close the portals till next year…  Spreading a little fairy dust in these few words, wishing you Happy Shopping, and a wonderful end to your Faire experience.
