I LOVED this outfit the moment I saw it. It’s just all about balance, which is so important, in ALL aspects of life. Somehow to me, this look evokes a sense of the past while being very on target with present fashion. The white texture — which stays constant — is wonderfully detailed; the choice of blues can make getting dressed a bit difficult (this one, no this one, no no maybe this one)!  The way it crosses at both the chest and at the hips/legs is extremely flattering, sexy while totally maintaining a level of class.  Thankfully, it’s Second Life and I don’t have to worry about staying warm! 😉

Uptown Girl, Shining Like Gold

I don’t often put on the glitz, but when I do, I just love it when it’s at this level.  Gold lamé is one of those things that can look somewhat trashy or really rich and elegant.  With Allure Couture, you know that you’re ALWAYS going to get the elegant side of things, her taste is always so dead on perfect.  Every little detail is just perfection, even down to the little golden apple that “holds” the gentle sweep of dark gold chiffon over the leg slit. A little bit of culture shock from yesterday’s urban grunge to today’s uptown sophisticated club scene, but that’s what life is all about, both of them! If you’re in the US, don’t forget to vote! 😉

Urban Underground

I know I often prattle on about the things I love about Second Life, but hey, it’s my blog and I can prattle about what I want, right? One of the things I love is that everything is right there with just a little searching… you want elegant? you got it. You want tropical? poof.  Spooky? easy. And if you want the grungy side of urban, well, you’ve got the Digital Underground. I just discovered this place which bills itself as a “hyper-detailed urban city themed sim”, and I have to say, it’s pretty amazing what they’ve already done and what they’re planning to do. Incredible details, lots of atmosphere, and just wonderful places to hang out and socialize or take pics (I’m in the record store!), especially when wearing a creation like this sexy little outfit (do note that the purple is from the light in the store, it’s NOT part of the outfit)! Perfect for going to the Underground! 😉

Til Next Samhain My Love

And wow, just like that, Halloween is over. All those wonderful costumes and props and accessories are done, till next year or til someone throws a costume party.  Although at times it did admittedly get to be somewhat overwhelming, it’s still really a little sad; I actually found going out clubbing and going to parties the last few nights to be incredibly fun, just to look around at everyone all dressed up in costume. It was just so amazing to see the range of creativity and imagination… some outfits would fit perfectly at the corporate Halloween party in real life; others could only exist here on the grid.  And now here we are on the other side, the thin veil between us and the other world has closed again, and it’s November, with Thanksgiving in the near future and here in SL, we have a whole new crop of events and wonderful new items as we head into the holiday season! I’ve said it before, and I’m sure I’ll say it again, but the creativity that abounds in Second Life constantly amazes me. I’m fortunate enough to now be blogging for a designer who likes to create some very, VERY original things. When I first unpacked this hat and put it on, I was just mezmerized… yes, it’s a witch’s hat, but one so different and so unique, with the face, and gaping mouth, and little nymph who was obviously swallowed and captured (you can see her move around a bit, and glow stronger), and emits green particles that are (and this is EXTREMELY important to me) NOT annoying.  It’s amazing to wear, but did take a little thinking to play it off perfectly. Tonic’s new group gift, Creepy Hands — especially paired with the extra-long pointy Bento nails — really took it to the max I thought. I had the green skin and costume already, and voila! Spellbinding!!! 😉

Yup, at this time of year, To Trick or To Treat, that is definitely the question.  And every time you dress, it’s throwing on just a little something extra that’s in the spirit of the season (if not dressing entirely Halloween-style, at least in SL).  This time, a little winged and horned headband adds that sense of Halloween to an otherwise totally sensible and oh-so-wearable two-piece outfit with such lovely little details — not just the subtly striped texture of the white shirt or the plaid of the skirt or the optional contrasting tone of the sash, but the way the fabric wrinkles on the lower arms and across the legs when you move. The power of fashion can be truly amazing — you slip on a dress, and it can be only what I can call transformative, not just to your look, but to your mood, to your whole being.
