Goin’ Coastal at Dreamland Designs’ Secret Sale

http://Goin' Coastal at Dreamland Designs' Secret Sale

I’ve been nesting.  I had some major dental work done earlier this week (ugh, I know, believe me), I’ve graduated from a liquid diet to soft foods (still ugh) but the lack of “real” food and the enforced non-activity has turned me into a total homebody (even more than usual lol).  And that translates into nesting.  It’s a much slower, more involved, and way more costly issue IRL, so my SL home has become the focus of this concentrated energy.  Since my move to this lot and the purchase of my house are both relatively recent events, this nesting phase has been greatly needed, considering the house had basically been furnished with items found in the ever deepening inventory bag… sometimes I wish I could set everything up in a great multi-level storage unit and I could just wander and point and say “let’s try that”, but the prims and space involved would be astronomical (like having a Ceja store with all my stuff in it lol).   Sometimes what I find in inventory is perfect, but even when the decor is fabulous, it doesn’t mean that it works best in THIS space.  That’s what makes it so fantastic when the PERFECT set is suddenly ON SALE.  No way, am I keeping this sale a secret!!!

Dreamland Designs:     It’s no secret that the Secret Sale offers fabulous deals; these items are on sale this weekend, June 18th – 20th.

The remains of the day (beach style)…

http://The remains of the day (beach style)One of my favorite times of day is late in the day.  If I’m at a public beach (as I normally am, since I don’t have beach where I live), it’s after the crowds have all gone home or back to their hotel rooms or whatever, and I’m just wanting to read “just one more chapter”, many times in a row.  The shadows are lengthening, the waves have subsided as the tide goes out, it’s quiet and peaceful…  There’s the memory of the day softly fading, and the promise of tomorrow… perfect for some quiet moments of reflection… Now there are no crowds at my little personal stretch of sand here in SL, but somehow the feeling at the end of the day is still the same… and now I have the perfect little spot from which to sit, relax, enjoy and reflect…

!Tylar’s (formerly Tylar’s Treasures):  I often blog Tylar’s fantasy line so you may not realize that this amazing lady also creates fabulous beach decor!  Now that beach season is most definitely here, you might find that some of your old beachy items look a little too weather-worn and outdated (maybe with that horrid musty smell!), and that means one thing…  Time to do a beach makeover!!!!  And Tylar’s has soooo many fabulous items on sale at THE event for beach lovers, the Under the Sea Event, an Evil Bunny production, open June 4th – 14th.  I’m featuring just a few of what’s available; these items and more are specially priced at 50% OFF for the event, so it’s definitely a DO NOT MISS opportunity!  See the ads below for more detail.

  • Starfish Cove Beach Chair.  Simple wooden beach chairs, a bit faded with seaspray.  I just love the way there’s left & right chairs, with the umbrellas angled for just the right amount of intimacy.  Chairs are bento for male & female.  Touch change the texture for the umbrellas & the wood.
  • Starfish Cove Palm Decor.  A beautiful addition to any tropical setting, includes a lit palm tree with a small palm & starfish at the base.

Also shown:

  • Crate w/ drinks – Xantes – Mojito Drinks
  • Shells – Sway’s – beach shells
  • Drinks – Sway’s – summer drinking jars
  • Paddles – Dust Bunny – dreamy outing, beach paddles
  • Beach bag – Focus Poses – beach bag

There Be Dragons…

http://There Be Dragons

I do love dragons!  They are a part of fantasy lore — or even history if you believe some of the tales from ancient times (perhaps a type of dinosaur that managed to survive for a few eons???) — that seems to have universal appeal.  I myself prefer the gentle-souled version (Puff the Magic Dragon et al) as opposed to the fierce selfish destroyer (like Smaug).  But here in SL, mine are more like the mountain banshees in Avatar… wild but able to be tamed and then bound by loyalty to the one who mastered them, partners in battle, domesticated to me and ONLY me in the garden.  And oh, what a garden I’ve built for them, a riot of color, a private little hideaway where we can simply be…  Now that IS a fantasy worth having, don’t you think?

!Tylar’s (formerly Tylar’s Treasures):  I absolutely adore Tylar’s fantasy line but it always creates a problem for me… I love sooo many items, I never know quite what to choose.  Her dragons though are ALWAYS a favorite of mine, they’re SO colorful & SO unique!  Here I’m featuring four items from her store in the Faireland of Broceliande at the Fantasy Faire, open just a few more days till May 8th.  Everything there is at 25% OFF, so it’s definitely a DO NOT MISS.  You can TP direct to the booth HERE.

  • Hovering Dragon with Egg in Nest.  The adult dragon not only hovers, flaps its wings, & breathes fire, you also can hear its roar & the sounds of flapping.  6-color texture menu for the dragon, & another 6 for the egg, each of which has a glorious multi-toned texture.  Shown on far right.
  •  Animated Baby Dragon on Rock (includes plantings as well).  Absolutely adorable!  It even includes a touch menu to change the dragon’s color (5 options).  Shown in front on far left.
  • Ruins Garden, Bento.  Includes the ruined wall, the bench (which is FULL of multi-speed bento animations for singles & couples), the bird bath with animated parakeets (chirping can be turned on/off) & animated water, the climbing pink vines, the yellow flowers, & the “zebra” plants around the front.  Available in Adult & PG versions.
  • Fairy Trees with Texture Change.  Two sizes — large (featured in red in the center) & small (featured on both sides).  Both sizes have touch menus for 16 glorious fantasy colors, perfect for any fantasy garden or landscape.

Oblivis Solem :  Dreamflare Lamp.  A new release, these fantasy lamps are PERFECT for any garden, any home.  The Heavenly (white) & Regal (black) lamps are the 100% RFL DONATION items for the faire, & will only be available at their store in the faireland of The Chrysalis Gardens for the duration of Fantasy Faire (ending May 8th).  Each one includes two sizes (large shown on both sides; medium in back center) plus a controller to change the color of the light to any of 11 choices or turn it off completely (I used candlelight).  A fatpack is also available offering 8 metal variants.  You can TP direct to their store HERE.

Paying Homage to Ostara

http://Paying Homage to Ostara

For the most part, I keep “my” blogging separate from that of my alt’s, “reality” vs “fantasy”.  But this IS Second Life after all, and sometimes the lines get a bit blurry.  This is a very rare post wherein we combined our efforts and created a scene that you might stumble upon one day in your wildest explorations, finding a portal that shimmers and beckons to wonders of another world, another dimension.  Wait!  Is that a signpost up ahead to The Twilight Zone?  well, it’s early in the morning for me, I’m drinking my first cup of coffee and my imagination is going for a bit of a ride…  but then again, isn’t that the point?  Happy shopping!

Dreamland Designs:   Necare Wild Garden.  New & exclusive to this past Wanderlust Weekend, don’t worry that you missed it due to the holidays!  Still on sale (for how long, I can’t say) at the mainstore, this is a wild romantic backdrop with blinking ground lights, swaying trees, & floating lights.   One word of warning… it IS pretty heavy on land impact,  but then again, it IS a complete scene.  Absolutely fabulous all by itself, or if you add more like I did in front of the archway that leads to whatever path you choose…  See the ad below for details on what’s included in this amazing garden.

Ostara’s Altar:  This is a new event for me, one I’ve been very excited to get since its focus is quite different from what I normally do!  Ostara’s Altar is a softer side dark style themed shopping market in Second Life.  Open this round from April 15th – 30th, the spring thaw brings forth the Goddess Ostara, & I hope you will join me as I pay homage at her altar.  Brought to you by Dark Passions Event, this promises to be an adventure into an unusual side of spring.

  • Portal:  Raindale  Shadowstone Portal.  Includes the portal itself (as shown), a separate version with attached platform, & the platform alone so it can be placed alongside or wherever you prefer, as well as 3 optional rocks in 8 different colors.  The portal even has a HUD, which offers you the choice of 8 colors for the stone, 8 for the platform, 10 for the inner ring, plus 8 options for the portal “waves” as well as the ability to change its opacity all the way from 100% to just the merest rippling.  An amazing addition to any fantasy scene! ALSO SHOWN is Raindale’s 10L$ hunt prize:  a nest, with 3 colors for the flowers & 5 colors for the eggs via touch menu.  EXCLUSIVE at the April round of Ostara’s Altar.  See the ad below.
  • Lamp:   CELESTE – Stone Orb Lamps.  Emissive & materials used, these incredibly mood-inducing lights come in 5 different color gradients.  EXCLUSIVE at the April round of Ostara’s Altar.  See the ad below.

Let the Sunshine In

http://Let the Sunshine In

It’s been very gloomy and rainy here in real life the last few days; what better way to brighten the mood than by redecorating, creating a brightness within despite the gloominess without.  I would love to have been able to add vibrant rays of sunshine streaming in, but my editing skills are just not there, and I try very hard never to do what I consider “over-editing”, but to capture the reality of SL slightly enhanced as opposed to exhibiting the magic of Photoshop (which I don’t even own lol, but it’s the Xerox of it’s time, being now used as a generic term).  I love the room I’ve created, it has an upbeat that makes me smile when I walk in… let the sun shine in!  And then, go shop!!!!

Dreamland Designs:   The Helen Collection.  I know, I know, I say it a lot, but I REALLY love this collection, love as in long-term love, the kind of love you need when it comes to buying furniture because who wants to keep redecorating over and over (unless of course you blog H&G like me, & then it just goes with the territory).  So what exactly has me so head over heels about the set?  I never can really point to one specific thing, since the overall feeling it generates is a combination of many factors, but I DO know that in this instance, at least one reason is the way subdued neutrals are contrasted with the bright pillows, breaking up what could be a very traditional look with a terrific burst of color… the fact that the colors of that burst are my favorites (as anyone who reads my blog should easily recognize) just adds more ooomph to it for me.  I also love the elements of the overall package… just the right number of pieces… not so many it’s overwhelming, not so few that your scene looks incomplete.  I just redecorated IRL… I wish I could have found THIS set!!! Here are the various parts of the collection that I used:

  • Living Room Set.  Includes the couch (which is chock full of single & couple bento animations), rug (artfully folded back… love that touch of messy!!), pillows casually strewn on the floor, coffee table, candlesticks, hanging lights, & wall covering.  The right things are neutral; the best things have the bright & oh-so-right tones that light up the room.  And I mean that both literally & figuratively, because the lights are touch on/off to brighten it up a bit & merge with the soft light from the candles.  Available in PG or Adult versions.
  • Heart Cabinet Set.  Includes the cabinet, the lamp, the planter. & the two picture frames.  The hearts on the cabinet are so subtle that I didn’t even notice them until I started shooting… I was completely surprised when I saw them there!  The different elements can be moved around as you want (I moved one of the pictures from the top of the cabinet to the side).  The lamp is touch on/off.
  • Wooden Slice Table.  Sliced wood table in a contemporary style. Includes the plants & the steaming cup of coffee.

Going Retro

http://Going Retro

So I was sadly unable to get these sets set up and blogged in time for this past weekend’s sales where they were featured (bad blogger, bad!), but they’re all such fantastic pieces the fact is that they don’t need to be on sale to grab these!  In my new home, I definitely felt it was time for some pattern and color, and what better way to introduce that than by retro vibe decorating?  For those of you who like me just love vibrancy, this will definitely get you into the mood to update your spaces, even if you haven’t just moved and bought a new house lol!

Circa Living

  • Elska Retro Living – The “Elska” collection has a bit of a Nordic feel with its clean & simple lines, available in 3 color themes. Perfect for the retro, boho vibe as well. The seating comes with an array of quality Bento & classic sit animations for the heart chair & ottoman designs, 24 per seat for the ladies & gents. The ottomans come with 18 classic sit animations. To match there are room divider sets plus planters to help fill spaces, working floor lamps with ambient casted light, & round area rugs. These are great choices for anyone who wants some pattern & color added to their life.  Additional offerings from this collection are also available.
  • Aziza Hanging Mixed Set – I had Circa’s hanging ferns in my last home; for this new one, I fell in love with these updated versions, with the mixed flowers & the long hanging bloodroot tendrils.  Set includes three different hanging lengths.  (There are also versions with hanging ivy.  See the pic below.)  The perfect accent for ANY style decor!

Escapist Literature

http://Escapist Literature

I don’t know if you’re a reader or not; me, I read an entire novel almost every week.  In a sense, it does the same thing for me that SL does… it allows me to escape into a different world (just in a more socially acceptable and flexible way lol).  But whether a casual or rabid reader, you might have dreamed of literally escaping into the pages of a book; it’s certainly figured into a myriad of fantasy books and films and even tv shows.  This amazing piece of decor takes that dream to the next level.  Available in two sizes, Book View (shown) and Life Size.  It’s literally an open book, where the left hand page has a poem; the right hand side has the story “come alive” as it were, in stunningly realistic 3D because it’s made from miniaturized SL items (see the pic below).   The Book View  is way bigger than a normal book size… the items even cast shadows (depending on your lighting and settings of course)!  The detail is amazing, even more so in the life size view where you can totally put yourself in the picture since the chairs have built-in animations.  The owl is animated too!  This is definitely the chance to do more than put yourself in the picture… you can put yourself right in the book!  Talk about immersion!!!  Go check it out… it’s EXCLUSIVELY available at the Second Life Home & Garden Expo, open just a few more days through March 20th.  You can TP directly to the vendors in their booth HERE.  Absolutely amazing in person!!!

My View – Nature Takes Back, book view.  Also available in Life Size, with built-in animations.  Both sizes are 100% RFL contribution items to help fund the fight against cancer!  (Note that other books are also available, so you can even choose to build a small library!)

If you’re a follower of my blog (& I certainly hope you are!), then you know that I just love boho styling, in fashion but especially in home decor.  This is an awesome set for that special corner of the room.  It looks so comfy & so inviting, and makes me want to arrange the pillows just so & curl up with the blanket, a cup of coffee, and a book!  Be sure to check it out… all pieces are sold separately, EXCLUSIVELY at the Infinity Event, open March 1st – 15th.

!Tylar’s:

Mirror, Mirror

http://Mirror, Mirror

To quote a saying, true beauty can’t be seen in the mirror, but that doesn’t mean that we still shouldn’t try to look our best.  As a blogger, how I look is especially important (not quite the same thing as being a model IRL, but still lol).  And what is more key to looking good than our approach to beauty… and to me, that includes the styling of our innermost sanctum, where we do our beauty prep before facing the world!  Here’s a teeny glimpse into mine…  Happy shopping!!!!

Tirrany Designs – Gilded Vanity.  Although probably designed with more of a fantasy setting in mind, there was no way I was letting Thea get her hands on this beauty!  Every girl deserves a bit of that gilded quality in her life, & where better to have it than while doing her beauty routine!?!  The styling of this piece works in EVERY setting!!! The vanity does texture change on touch, & includes both Single & Duo Cuddle animations.  (For easy attachment of items in the vanity, just add the Avpos Experience to your land.)  The set also includes the tray of vanity accessories & the Antique Mirror & Brush, for which I’ve included a close up below of these two items.  (Please note that I added a bit more clutter to the right side of the vanity since I’m definitely not the neatest person on the grid lol!) The entire set is a 100% RFL contribution item at the SL Home & Garden Expo, open through March 20th.  You can TP direct to their booth HERE.

Spring Up – Plant Stand Set package.  I featured this in an earlier post (which you can see HERE), but am finding that these add the perfect touch everywhere throughout my house! Available with so much more at the SL Home & Garden Expo, this package includes 16 hand picked mix of tropical plants and flowers on a plant stand, plus an empty DIY stand for you to add your own plant or flower.   The stand menu has 8 pot options & 3 metal options..  You can TP direct to their booth HERE.

A still life watercolor

http://A still life watercolor

It’s so perfect that the Second Life Home & Garden Expo is happening now, at the first breath of spring.  I have washed all the snow away from my lands, and as I start re-landscaping and doing a spring “cleaning”, it’s absolutely the perfect time to get new ideas and fabulous new items for both my home and garden.  There’s just so much to see and do, and so much to buy!!! And don’t forget… this is a Relay for Life event, so every designer has at least one item where all the money is donated to this fabulous charity and its fight against cancer.  The Home & Garden Expo is open through March 20th… don’t miss this opportunity to spruce things up for the season and beyond!!! Happy shopping!!!

Nerenzo – Seychelles Couch Set.  EXCLUSIVELY available at the Second Life Home & Garden Expo.  You can TP direct to their booth HERE.

  • Couch  — Includes a texture changer with 9 choices for the pillows, plus 6 for the cushions.  Also includes animations for both single (F) & couples.  Available in both PG/Cuddle & Adult versions, with the PG version being a 100% RFL contribution item!
  • Chair  — Includes same texture changer as the couch, plus animations for single (F) & couples.  Available in both PG & Adult versions.
  • Table — Includes “touch-to-rez” up to 7 individual items (I’m showing 4).  One little detail I love is that the items can then be individually moved around if you prefer (& individually de-rezzed too).

Spring Up – Plant Packages, available with so much more at the SL Home & Garden Expo.  You can TP direct to their booth HERE.

  • Plant Pot Set Package – Includes 16 (!!) variations of tropical plants & flowers in a wood pot (I’ve shown my favorite — the hibiscus — in two different colors).   A fabulous feature is that the pots are texture driven, so you can change the frame, the sides, & the inside of the pot for the look you want!  A DIY model is also included for you to add your own plant or flower.
  • Plant Stand Set Package  — 16 hand picked mix of tropical plants and flowers on a plant stand, plus an empty DIY stand for you to add your own plant or flower.   The stand menu has 8 pot options & 3 metal options.
