I’m a romantic at heart, and although this movie classic is a thriller, it starts off so dreamy that it’s always been a favorite and the mere mention of the song puts stars in my eyes and puts me in a wistful state of mind.  This scene instantly created the thought in my mind, and I decided to just follow the notes… How can I go wrong with a gown like this?  (POSTNOTE: Who knew that I’d used this title back in 2019 and talked about the movie then too??? I guess it definitely is a favorite lol!!!)

A Fae’s Fantasy

Even a fae sometimes dreams of a different life… not just as a warrior or a high priestess or a princess or a simple shepherdess, but totally, wildly different (the way a human dreams of donning wings and owning the skies).  After dropping into the undersea worlds at Fantasy Faire (which sadly ends May 8th!!!!), I was tortured over an overwhelming desire to trade my wings and horns in for a tail, and thanks to my very very good friend who often plays as a mermaid (and gifted me the tail!!!), I took the plunge as it were into a whole new world (sorry, a whole new world of plays-on-words is open, and I simply can’t resist!).   Although I still have an awful lot to learn about underwater photography, etc., and my inventory is sadly lacking in mermaid paraphernalia and accessories, I am definitely hooked and anticipate creating many more posts of my fae dreamworld… not quite an alt’s alt, but definitely a different reality!  (As a side note, I just discovered that SL is celebrating the mermaid community and calling this “MerMay” with some special mermaid last names available for a limited time, so even though I am definitely not changing my name or creating another alt, my timing is perfect!)  And on that note, I happily flip my tail (it really is so cool lol), and swim off to explore the weekend sales and spend as much time at Fantasy Faire as possible before the gates close for the year!  There are several Fairelands with underwater areas to explore (The Isles of Aquarius and Sambaubee are where I indulged my first swimming adventure). I LOVE FANTASY FAIRE!  I just can’t get enough, between wandering the 22 lands (22!!!!!), each one with its own distinct personality and hidden secrets, shopping (yes, admittedly it’s probably what I do most), the events, looking at everyone else and the characters they create (though I have to say I get a kick out of the “regular” humans who IMHO always look a bit like they woke up in OZ lol!), even the radio!   I actually keep Fantasy Faire radio on at my home so I can always know what’s going on even if I can’t actually be there (putting together looks or sets for blogging can take quite a bit of time).  The Faire is open ONE MORE WEEK!  The gates close on May 7th… eek!!!! Natural Beauty

Beauty comes in all forms, and its definition varies by person and even by time and place.  We all have different tastes in EVERYTHING, and on top of that, tastes change.  But the beauty of nature — in all its forms — is everlasting.  My heart skips a beat when I first come upon something in nature that I find beautiful… followed by serenity as I just sit and take it in.  I have several enduring memories of doing just that… sitting on the cliffs in Brittany France and in Newport RI, just watching the wind and the waves, breathing it all in…  watching the butterflies as they dip and hover over a vast field of flowers… so many!  My next vacation includes some time up in the northern islands off the coast of Scotland, where I expect I’ll be adding many more such memories to that treasure trove in my heart and mind.  I can’t wait! But in the meantime, I’ll just sit here a bit and soak in the beauty of the wildflowers, and the gentle breeze riffling the leaves on the trees… sighs… Happy shopping!

My Gypsy Soul

The beauty of SL is to try on different looks or, in my case, totally different characters.  Each fae I become is way more than just changing an outfit… I transform into someone new, with different attitudes.  It’s a fascinating way to live, but so much a part of who I am, as a fantasy being living my life (or should I say lives?) in this fantasy world of ours… Each one has that touch of magic…  here’s how I created this amazing new me!

Reflecting on Ostara…

Ostara… I’m so happy to be an official blogger for “her” special fantasy event here in SL, Ostara’s Altar (a Dark Passions event), full of designer exclusives PLUS a 10L egg hunt. But my human kept stumbling upon references to her in the real world, so I found myself wondering about who she was and how this awesome event came to be.  Although there’s lots of debate and discrepancies (as with most things lol), Ostara is basically a modern pagan holiday, celebrating the spring equinox, which marks the beginning of spring and the awakening of nature.  Named after the ancient Germanic goddess Ostara or Eostre — who was associated with the dawn and new beginnings —  this is a time of rebirth and renewal when the natural world awakens from its winter slumber. It is a time when we can celebrate the return of the light, the growth of new life, and the renewal of hope. It is also a time when we can connect with the natural world, celebrate the changing seasons, and embrace the ongoing cycles of life.  One popular story about Ostara involves the origin of the Easter Bunny.  Essentially, the tale is that Ostara transformed a bird into a hare (how? why? who knows), and the hare responded by laying colored eggs for her festival.  Is this how the Easter bunny and the decorating of eggs began? Again, who knows, but the great news is that anyone who wants to celebrate the arrival of spring and the renewal of life can also participate in this holiday, regardless of their religious or spiritual beliefs.  Bottom line, Ostara is a good time to literally and figuratively plant seeds for the future.  And that is definitely something to reflect upon, especially while shopping this fabulous event!  Take a browse through the Ostara’s Altar Shopping Guide ; then go see the event for some magical shopping, and enjoy the blessings of the season! It’s very strange… I’m a city girl, born and bred, but I’ve lived in suburbia for all my adult years.  In all that time, it’s always been my understanding that birds — with a few notable exceptions like owls — sleep at night.  It’s obviously been a pretty false understanding because there are a LOT of birds here in Florida who appear to have different bedtimes… NOISY birds, who are sometimes making a racket in the trees at 1A or even 2A.   I’ll admit that when we first moved here and I was walking the dog after dark, it would kind of freak me out when those sounds would follow me… my imagination would run wild and it would almost feel like I was being stalked by something out there in the dark.  Now of course I’m used to it, but wow, these birds can be so loud in those wee hours that I’m shocked more people aren’t up (like me).  But then I’ve always been a nightbird (and I guess those squawkers are where the expression comes from lol)…  Happy shopping!

I generally think of being “fiery” as being angry or vindictive or deep in warrior mode, but in this skin, I’m realizing that “fiery” can also mean super-charged! I am somewhat befuddled today, however, and so many thoughts are tumbling through my fae brain without any coalescing enough enough to share… so I’m just going to go live in my new skin for a while, take advantage of all that energy and just stretch my wings, fly away and explore all that’s new, all that’s changed, and all I love that thankfully is still there, awaiting my pleasure…  Enjoy!

  • Skin:  Petrichor– Amatheia Summer Skins.  One of an absolutely amazing trio of skin tones released for the Skin Fair, open March 10th – 27th.  (See below for the ad showing all three variations).  Including both male & female versions, these are just the first tones of a full rework of the Amatheia skins, with new bases, new colors, Standard BOM (Evo) & EvoX support along with stand-alone markings on tattoo layers.  As always with Petrichor, the detail is staggeringly beautiful, even down to the tatt for my EvoX ears! The skin pack also includes Vareni elf ears (not worn), new brows in 10 colors & 8 shapes for both classic & EvoX, plus a whole range of other add-ons.  Since my only issue with Petrichor skins is choosing exactly which tone is my favorite (& I should add “at any given time” because it’s always changing lol), I was actually happy to only have three to choose from, though I’m sure I’ll be flapping my wings with joy as the full tonal ranges are released!  If you appreciate top-quality fantasy skins, be sure to visit Petrichor in booth C035; demos available!
  • Dress:  Petrichor & Ersch– The Keraves Dress.  When you’re flaunting a skin this gorgeous, you want to show it off.  But being a bit shy & private, this fae doesn’t like to bare TOO much… this stunning dress comes right up to that line of comfort, with artfully placed straps & flowy fabric panels that are just big enough … perfection (as you can see in the ad below)!  Both single colors available as well as 40-color HUD packs in different fabric textures (Canvas, Fabric, Fae, Leathered, & Shimmer).   Sized for Legacy + Perky, Belleza Curvy, Maitreya + Petite, Mounds, & Reborn, the Keraves Dress is available at the main store.
