Wow, it feels like a page has turned, and a new chapter has begun! We got great news at the cardiologist yesterday, things are really REALLY progressing, with lots of restrictions easing up.  I no longer have to be the strict caregiver; I was even able to hand over the keys to his car and set him free from the house.  Life is returning (slowly) back to almost-normal as there’s still a long road to full recovery ahead, but all that stress I’ve been carrying around is finally starting to let go.  The relief is palpable. To celebrate, I did a bit of a makeover inworld as well… a new head that I absolutely adore and a lightening up of my sponsors so that I can go back to enjoying the blogging life rather than being stressed by too many deadlines.  It feels wonderful!!!!

It’s true that except for groceries and other everyday necessities, I rarely shop brick-and-mortar stores any more… instead, I’m a confirmed online shopper.  But back in the day, I clearly remember days of “shop till you drop”, just going store to store, looking and trying on seemingly thousands of things, sometimes buying a lot, other times not buying a thing. Sometimes I wonder what changed… was it the shopping experience itself? was it me? was it the combination of both? I guess I’ll never know, but I DO know that there are times when a bit of retail shopping therapy is still exactly what’s called for to get out of a slump, or to chase those blues away.  There’s nothing quite like that feeling of walking out of a store, package in hand, knowing that you found exactly what it took to put that light back in your eyes and the smile on your face!  Not quite the same as shopping on MarketPlace lol!!!! 😉

Wow, it’s really hard to believe that Memorial Day is over and past, and summer is basically here. Definitely doesn’t feel like it, it’s a relatively chilly day. Hot air balloons have always captured my imagination.  Maybe it’s from watching the Wizard of Oz as a little girl, or pictures I’ve seen of hot air balloon festivals, but they always make my heart soar. My family did a hot air balloon ride in Arizona several years ago… it was not quite as magical as I’d hoped — my head was hot from the heat for the balloon, and we hit a day without much wind — but it was still pretty thrilling and the history behind it was fascinating (especially its relationship to champagne!!!)… This gacha brought all that rushing back into my mind in a moment, and although there’s no champagne handy and this balloon doesn’t actually move, let’s toast to taking a ride in my beautiful balloon!  😉

So I’ll admit it… I’m suffering a bit from some good old-fashioned jealousy.  It’s probably not where your mind immediately goes lol… The fact is that my BFF is off on vacay in Hawaii — HAWAII!!!!! — and the green-eyed monster definitely has been paying me a visit.  I love tropical vacations, but I’ve only been to Hawaii once, and that was many many MANY years ago; at the time, we vowed we’d be back, but it’s never happened for one very simple reason… I live on the east coast. Do the math. Bottom line… I’m freakin’ jealous lol!!! So here I am instead, in my virtual tropical paradise, lusting after the real thing, dreaming of the magic of the Hawaiian islands, how it would feel to be there, wondering if they still hand out leis to all arrivals at the airport, how it would look, how it would smell, how the food would taste, the whole experience… on the other hand, this is a whole lot cheaper and there’s no jet lag.  At least that’s what I keep telling myself!!!  But wait, is that Tiny Bubbles I hear on the breeze????? We all have our little routines for checking our outfits before heading out, whether it be in real life or here in Second Life.  One of the things I love about SL (one of so very many lol) is that there’s no need for all that neck craning and awkward twisting to see yourself from all sides.  And let’s face it… it’s really critical in a world where parts of your body can pop right through your clothes as you move, which is why part of my pre-check is to dance and see what gives lol… no popped seams for this girl!!  Another benefit is that you get to appreciate the rear view when a designer does something special to enhance the back, like the stitching on the pockets of this dress.  But the idea is to approximate real life, so if I stand just so, I can see it in the mirror and yes, I think I’m lookin’ good from all sides! The verdict? Good to go!!!! Now the question is, where am I going?  😉

So the weather has been seesawing here in the Northeast, from beautiful warm spring days to blustery cold ones reminiscent of winter and fall.  And although I’m admittedly an ice cream addict year-round, nothing speaks to me of summer quite as much as when the local dairy bars start taking down their shutters and getting ready for the season.  I happened to drive that way over the weekend, and although it will still be several weeks before they actually open, they were hard at work putting on a fresh coat of paint and doing some general sprucing up and spring cleaning.  It just sets my heart all aflutter lol, and totally made me think of this amazing backdrop/bloggerkit by Salacity.  When I saw this Slurpee prop and this hair at the Saturday Sale, I knew it was fate… mmmm, the taste of summer!!! 😉

If you lived in NYC during a certain time frame, you may know (or at least have heard of) a dance and night club called the Limelight. It was a pretty unique venue for its time… a converted church, it made quite an impact even from the outside.  It was so popular, in fact, that it spawned other locations in the US, but the original has always been considered the most “significant and infamous.” For some reason, the combination of doing a city shot and wearing a skin called Lime brought all kinds of memories rushing back… not just of the Limelight itself, but of the neighborhood, where I lived for many years.  The Limelight was just a very New York place, and for those of us born and bred in Manhattan, it holds a special place in our hearts and minds… though I’ll be the first to say that this is definitely NOT the look I would have worn to the club and since I lived only a few blocks away, I would never have been hailing a cab either (not to mention that NYC sidewalks don’t look like this lol)! But those days are long ago and far away, so for now, all i have to say is TAXI!!!!  😉

So I’m really sorry (and a bit ashamed) to admit that I seem to have gotten lazy when it comes to some parts of my blogging. I don’t have automatic backups (too costly), and after my one problem a long long time ago, I just drifted away from always putting a copy of my blog post text into a Word document. And today, I’m paying the price for that, because my blog post from the 18th — where I introduced Crichton — is gone.  Just gone. Error message 404!  So I had to stop everything in the midst of doing THIS post, and go back to try to recreate it as best I could — at least the credits, I didn’t even try to redo the introduction because I have no idea what was on my mind lol —  because it’s simply not fair to my sponsors that the post advertising their products has just gone poof.   Now that it’s all done and posted, Crichton and I are going to enjoy the rest of this beautiful day, and relax and forget about my oversight and the additional work it caused!  And yes, it’s a good lesson learned, but wow, is it ever frustrating! 😉
