http://The Qwikee MartEver since I stopped living in the city (which admittedly was decades ago lol) I’ve missed having that corner market to grab those few things you need on the way home (or the way out, for that matter).  Now when I need just one or two things I have to go get in either my car or golf cart (!!!) and drive over to the mega-grocery store.  I miss the convenience of easy in/easy out, where I really can do a “quickee shop”.  But on my way home from an early doctor’s appointment this morning, my stomach was growling and what I realized is that I also miss those fabulous egg, bacon and cheese sandwiches with hot sauce on an English muffin that they made on demand right around the corner..,  mmm mmm, wow do I miss the last-minute grab and go deliciousness of that!  Oh well, I guess that’s what kitchens are for lol!

I am feeling stressed.  And a stressed-out fae is easily upset and angry, and NO ONE likes a pissed-off fae, especially one with a magical staff.  My human counterpart is the source of all my stress.  Because she has this urge to travel the real world — something I struggle to understand since there is so much to explore right here on the grid — my time inworld is being severely curtailed as she runs around getting ready.  It seems to me that it’s more trouble than it’s worth, but my opinion doesn’t seem to count for much at the moment.  Sighs, muttering incantations under my breath, as I feel the darker side of fae moving to the forefront…  all in all, we are NOT pleased  with our treatment, although I DO have to admit that I am beyond pleased with my new look.  So maybe the human is right, and I should just go exercise my wings, practice my fae magic, and sprinkle some fairy dust here and there.  Oh, and of course, shop shop shop!!!

This is the birth of a new persona for me (yes, there seem to be several multiple personalities residing within one small avatar lol), the Dread Pirate Thea la Fae.  I have a feeling that she will make an appearance now and again, though piracy and buccaneering don’t hold a huge appeal for me, I do get a hankering to “shiver me timbers” every once in a while.  An outfit like this DEFINITELY puts me in the mood to taste the salt air and have some rum… unfortunately my parrot companion could not join me due to insurmountable issues with scripted objects the night of my shoot, but the next time Thea la Fae takes center stage I’ll be sure to include the screechy beast!  In the meantime, may you find safe harbor in this troubled world (and of course, happy shopping)!

I’m a romantic at heart, and although this movie classic is a thriller, it starts off so dreamy that it’s always been a favorite and the mere mention of the song puts stars in my eyes and puts me in a wistful state of mind.  This scene instantly created the thought in my mind, and I decided to just follow the notes… How can I go wrong with a gown like this?  (POSTNOTE: Who knew that I’d used this title back in 2019 and talked about the movie then too??? I guess it definitely is a favorite lol!!!)

My days of staying up all night are long gone, but I definitely do remember them!  The semi-exhaustion permeating everything, the “whatever, I’m not taking the time to change, let’s just get it done” attitude, the goal to handle all the necessary errands in order to just get back home and fall into bed… I’m still considered quite a night owl, especially considering that I live in the south where people tend to rise earlier to beat the heat and then they cocoon inside for most of the day.  I lived in NY for almost my entire life, and I still run on a variation of that schedule, although it’s admittedly a lot more difficult to go out and eat a late dinner down here lol!  I also never looked quite so stylish, especially after being out all night, but then again, this is SL and we can all look as stylish as we want, whenever and wherever!  Well, a few more stops, and I’m home to bed!!! Well Fantasy Faire has ended.  My real life was suddenly so busy and frantic with a 12-person luncheon I was hosting that I totally missed the last two days of the Faire.  The few days before that I was obsessively tackling some rather involved ideas (for me, anyway) that I’m now having a bit of difficulty making the transition back to human.  So I did the next best thing (or maybe even the best? I guess the answer is a highly subjective one lol)… I brought a touch of fantasy into what I consider a “real life” shot…  And there we are… back to reality!  Enjoy YOUR reality (whatever that may be)!!!!

A Fae’s Fantasy

Even a fae sometimes dreams of a different life… not just as a warrior or a high priestess or a princess or a simple shepherdess, but totally, wildly different (the way a human dreams of donning wings and owning the skies).  After dropping into the undersea worlds at Fantasy Faire (which sadly ends May 8th!!!!), I was tortured over an overwhelming desire to trade my wings and horns in for a tail, and thanks to my very very good friend who often plays as a mermaid (and gifted me the tail!!!), I took the plunge as it were into a whole new world (sorry, a whole new world of plays-on-words is open, and I simply can’t resist!).   Although I still have an awful lot to learn about underwater photography, etc., and my inventory is sadly lacking in mermaid paraphernalia and accessories, I am definitely hooked and anticipate creating many more posts of my fae dreamworld… not quite an alt’s alt, but definitely a different reality!  (As a side note, I just discovered that SL is celebrating the mermaid community and calling this “MerMay” with some special mermaid last names available for a limited time, so even though I am definitely not changing my name or creating another alt, my timing is perfect!)  And on that note, I happily flip my tail (it really is so cool lol), and swim off to explore the weekend sales and spend as much time at Fantasy Faire as possible before the gates close for the year!  There are several Fairelands with underwater areas to explore (The Isles of Aquarius and Sambaubee are where I indulged my first swimming adventure). I’ve been so happily busy — obsessed even — with spending every spare second  that I’m not putting together fashion looks over at the Fantasy Faire.  Between shopping and exploring and doing on-site photo shoots, time has been FLYING by.  And then suddenly I realized that it’s already May and that the Faire will close in just a few days on May 7th and I’m panicked that I never spent any time with all the wonderfully awesome non-fashion goodies.  So I immediately unpacked all of my outdoor favorites and started seeing what would work together to create a dino-mite scene (sorry, sorry, sorry, I haven’t had my coffee yet!) that would fit in a photo frame.  For some reason, the song ‘Midnight at the Oasis’ started playing in my head (maybe it was on Fantasy Faire radio at the time? I honestly don’t know), but I can’t get it out of mind, and it was that or something about a meeting getting off to a rough start, so that’s the title I’m going with lol.  And now, back to our regularly scheduled program!

  • Dinosaurs:  Prehistorica – The Dawn Kingdoms – Amazing, amazing, totally AMAZING!!! I admit I went a bit dino crazy, but these are just so incredibly realistic (well, it SEEMS realistic, having never really seen a dinosaur I guess it’s all conjecture, now isn’t it?) that I just couldn’t help myself.  If you want to ride — or be — a dinosaur, this is definitely the place to go because they not only have all these to buy they’ve created a prehistoric land where you can RIDE since it admittedly takes quite a bit of space when you’re on one of the big ones.  All of what I used to make this scene & more are available at Fantasy Faire in the Faireland of Khumbala; you can TP direct to Prehistorica’s booth HERE:

  • Grassy Stones & Pools:  Mindgardens Creations – Pandora Rocks.  An incredible set of rock shapes (including those with ponds & the big arch in the back; see the ad below) that are available in four different rock textures — grassy stone, (which is what I used), brown stone, dark stone, & winter stone.  The possibilities are truly endless!
