It’s one of the mysteries of life (real or Second)… no matter how much you have in your closet or in your inventory, you just never have enough to wear.  Thankfully, it’s a VERY easy situation to remedy since there are so many awesome events happening and stores with new releases.  Personally, I have a VERY large inventory here in SL… one which I do clear out periodically, tossing things that I just don’t think I’ll ever wear again.  And as a blogger, I’m ALWAYS putting on new things… after all, that’s the definition of being a fashion blogger.  And yet, I’ll admit, I often feel like I have absolutely nothing to wear. I rifle through my virtual closet, unable to find the “right” thing for the moment… or conversely, I find too many and have difficulty choosing.  Either way, I just love finding new things, new looks.  I DO wish though I’d find a better inventory system for myself… the built-in one for Firestorm is great in that it has pix but they’re so small, that there are times I really have difficulty using it to make decisions.  Well, time to decide what to wear, and to get moving… I have a date!  Happy shopping!

I don’t know what the weather’s like where you’re holed up (assuming you’re staying at home, that is) but where I am, we’re expecting colder than normal temperatures tomorrow with gusty winds and hail in the afternoon.  You heard me, HAIL.  So you can imagine that my mind is totally rejecting this and has instead fixed firmly on the beach, fun in the sun, and daydreaming of better days.  I can’t quite visualize swimsuits and actually going in the water… not with winter still lingering at my door.  But on a blanket in the sand, with various things to occupy me? Yup, I could do that. Definitely.

The New Reality

The new reality… that’s what they call it.  I prefer the OLD reality or fantasy, but I guess none of us gets to choose.  Considering how much time I have on my hands, it’s amazing how much difficulty I’m having with my blogging.  With so much emptiness and so many hours to fill, I find it hard to concentrate… not to mention that I’ve been busy developing other distractions — videogames, puzzles, home repairs, and of course lots of reading.  The main issue is that there’s just this underlying worry all the time, stress that just can’t be resolved.  Once it warms up a bit and we can at least sit in the backyard and work in the garden, I think things will improve, but I also think I’m kidding myself and that it will just be more of the same.  Of course, EVERYONE feels it, but I do wonder if that makes it better or worse to have an entire world society locked up in their homes, on edge, worrying about tomorrow.  We all need avatars that can go out there in the real world for us and face the dangers, avatars that can transmit all the feelings, not just the visual and audio but ALL of it… now wouldn’t THAT be something?  Hmmm, I’ll have to daydream about that for a while… Meantime it’s a new month, and all the SL designers are also locked up in their homes worldwide, so they’ve been busy designing simply awesome things, which are now hitting their stores and the the monthly events.  Shopping is, as always, the best therapy!!!!  Keep your eye out for stay-at-home specials… I’ve found a free house, a free head, free clothes, and more…. but the most important thing is to STAY SAFE OUT THERE!!!

I’m definitely not a Biblical nut, but I do have to admit that home confinement feels quite a bit like being sent to my room for misbehavior (though I’m certainly not without my supper!).  But did I misbehave?  Well, I personally have my faults and failures, and I do have to say that as a society, we certainly have not been taking care of our planet.  Perhaps, just perhaps, mother nature is starting to try to teach us our manners.  Yes, I definitely have too much time on my hands to think of far-fetched things, but is it any accident that certain environmental factors have improved during this global pandemic?  It’s logical of course… a lot of production is shut down, there’s no commuting, etc., but perhaps there’s a bigger lesson in all of this, beyond the need to be prepared and to care for our neighbors and our fellow man.  Who knows?  Again, too much time to play mind games and watch scifi movies…  and of course my daily shopping on the grid!  (My shopping IRL has really nose-dived now that Amazon Prime is taking up to a month to deliver!)  Whatever you are up to, especially if you are one of those out there on the front lines fighting for the rest of us, be safe out there!

Wild & Free

OK, I’m a bit of a homebody.  My husband doesn’t understand how I can be happy not leaving the house for a few days at a time, how I used to like working from home.  But this? This is way too much, even for me.  The way things are now, it’s not like there’s even anywhere to go or anything to do because it’s all shut down, but there’s definitely a sense of being trapped.  The fact that it’s getting colder outside — we’re supposed to get snow in a few days! — doesn’t help either.  And on top of it all my seasonal allergies have kicked in, so it’s just a mix of things that are working together to make me depressed.  I know it’s not just me… everyone is feeling it to some degree.  I’m not sure though if that makes it better or worse.  And the fact that there’s no near end in sight doesn’t help either.  Thankfully there’s the grid and my life and activities there (though to be honest, most of it IS blogging at this point), but I was definitely drawn to doing something exuberant and free, as opposed to the trapped feeling so many of us are experiencing.  Stay safe out there in the real world… chin up (advice for myself as well!)… I don’t know about you, but I’m still shopping… IRL I’m waiting for a sea sponge to arrive so that I can do some painting touchup; here in SL, there are so many events there’s never enough time…  oh wait! Now there is!!!  Happy shopping! and stay safe out there!

Animal Instinct.  I’d love to say something cute about how this really brought out the animal in me or something, but all I can say is that I really did go wild for this outfit!  It’s just such fun & so stylish & sexy, all at the same time.  My biggest problem is that there are 12 colors available, several of which I absolutely adore which makes decisions very very difficult, but luckily they also come all together in a Fat pack with a HUD where you can change the color for the jacket, cuffs, corset, & skirt separately, so you can even mix ‘n match if you want. Sing a Song of Flowers

Well, while all our attention has been focused on the corona virus, something else not-quite-so-major has happened in our world… spring has managed to sneak in.  Where I live, the crocuses have popped, the forsythia are starting to bloom, and as my head can definitely attest, seasonal allergies have begun.  The seesaw weather of March is in full spring too… 65 degrees one day, plummeting to the 30s the next, but if those little flower buds can survive, then so can I, knowing that the beauty and fullness of spring is on its way. I don’t know about you, but I really can’t wait. My office has closed for the foreseeable future due to the virus, so I’ll be home quite a bit more than usual.  I’m really looking forward to that morning when I wake up and look out my window to see things really in bloom.  Until then, I’ll just sing a song of flowers, and finish planting my SL landscape into a flowery garden.  So many events to see, so many awesome things to buy… Happy shopping!

Tempest

So when I first started as a blogger, my very first sponsor was Tonic, the maker of my favorite mesh body.  As I say repeatedly in my blogs whenever I wear my Tonic Curvy body (though I should mention that they do also make a Tonic Fine body, it’s just not ME, I’m definitely a curvy gal), in my opinion it has the most natural curves anywhere. So I seem to be behind in everything.  In RL, I’m behind in my chores. Behind in my work. In SL, I’m behind in my blogging. Behind in my landscaping, now that the snow has left the estate I primarily live on.  And yet, I feel like I’m always rushing, always busy, always late.  My head just isn’t where it’s supposed to be, which really isn’t like me at all.  It’s been this way ever since I got back from a little long weekend jaunt down to Florida to see my aging mom; I just can’t seem to get my head together.  Instead, I seem to be turning into a daydreamer, just dreaming my life away… I guess there are worse things to be, at least in the short-term.  But the month is gearing up now, so I’m giving myself a much needed kick in the you-know-what to get up and get going back to business!  As for all of you out there, happy shopping!

Listening to A Summer Song

I really can’t believe how quickly that nip in the air appeared.  In the space of just a few days I went from wearing shorts and tank tops to jeans, 3/4 sleeves, and even a jacket at certain times of day. The trees have felt it, too, and are just starting to turn.  And although their autumnal color is very beautiful and the fall air is refreshing after the oppressive heat, it’s also bittersweet…  I’ve always found fall to be a little sad. All the beauty of fall is actually a form of death (of course, much of it is reborn in spring, but still).  And although it doesn’t mean as much as it once did, when there was a real break in life between summer and the rest of the year, there’s enough of a holdover from childhood for it to be a bit melancholy.  It’s the time of all the “lasts”… one last summer barbecue, one last swim in the lake, one last bonfire, sometimes it’s one last kiss… whatever your summer is about… whatever made it special to you.  The weatherman says we’ll be back in shorts for a couple of days midweek, but I know that’s just a delaying tactic by mother nature… summer’s end is coming, if not already here… and it’s time for that one lasting look around before it’s gone (at least until next year!)… and to turn around and head into the next season with its own beauty, its own pleasures…  They’re already selling Halloween candy in the RL stores and Halloween costume here on the grid… can pumpkin spice latte be far behind?  😉
