As you’ve probably noticed, I’m generally what I’ll term “a location blogger”.  In other words, I don’t do studio shots and then photoshop in backgrounds; sometimes I’ll use full backdrops but usually I go out and hunt for locations (though admittedly I use my own land quite a bit).  This is one of the things I’ve always loved to do in SL, to explore… I just love stumbling over some little find, where creativity has taken reign and something wonderful has resulted.  Maybe that’s why I’ve built this into my blogging, even though sometimes it means somewhat harried bouncing from site to site, looking for the “right” place.  This time, I went to the ends of the “earth” to find this perfect little cafe, The World’s End Cafe.  I didn’t use the “themed” regional windlight because it changed the colors of the dress, but this little place is truly a gem!  The only problem is that now I have this song stuck in my head, so of course I think you should too! On a more somber note, though, it IS how I often feel these days… that we’re at the end of the world… and it can (and has) gotten in my way of blogging and created a bit of a block, but at least for right now, this moment here in SL and back there in RL on my computer typing, I feel fine…  I hope you do too!  😉

  • Dress:  Graffitiwear – Sundress, & what a stunner of a little sundress it is!  Halter-style on the top, it then falls gently from the empire-style waist, but it doesn’t fall far & wow, it just makes your legs look like they go on forever!  But one of the many things I love about Graffitiwear is that you’re never left trying to figure out what to do for modesty with these short little dresses… this sundress is incredibly easy to wear because matching crotch covers are included, as well as sandals.  The biggest problem is deciding which texture to wear!  First you have to choose between 3 style groups; each then has a HUD of 6 dresses, 6 crotch covers, & 6 mid-high sandals… or you can just give up & buy the fatpack. I love dressing up and going formal; maybe it’s more of the Barbie principle, but I always feel like a princess or a celebrity or, at the very least, like I’m celebrating a special occasion. I love it in real life too, but frankly it’s not as affordable, or comfortable, and I just don’t look anywhere near as good lol!  The gown is, of course, the crucial starting point, but to show it — and you — off to fullest effect, you need to pay equal attention to all the little details… which hair is best for THAT dress, which skin, what eye shadow (not too much, not too little), what lipstick, and what jewelry.  I see my job as a blogger is to do all that for you, to experiment and create the best look that I can, and then tell you where to find all the pieces so that you can recreate what you like.  The good news is that none of us has to worry about shoes being too high to walk in or being comfortable lol!!!  😉

  • Jewelry: Stone’s Works – Star Flower Diadem is one of those special jewelry pieces that you think you’ll never find a use for & then you realize that it adds that incredibly perfect touch to almost every gown you own. This is the first time I’ve ever done my blog “on the road” so to speak. It’s been quite the challenge, from getting my laptop to allow me to save pictures (my virus protection was blocking it), to remembering/installing the name of the font for my “signature”, to getting access to my WordPress dashboard when everything that I had installed at home suddenly didn’t work when I was away.  I had been so worried about connectivity too; the last time I was here visiting my mom, the wifi had been at a snail’s pace and it was impossible to be in SL. They recently upgraded the community to fiber optics and wow, the difference is amazing! The speed is even better than I have at home, which is going to result in several phone calls when I return!! I guess I needn’t have worried about hitting my requirements and getting my blogs out on time, because it’s not an issue getting it out while away! And it’s been awesome being able to be in every night and just play around, which is perfect with so many events opening this week!!! Valentine’s Day is one of those days I always have mixed feelings about. It’s wonderful when you’re in the throes of early romantic love (but then what isn’t, lol?); excruciating when your heart is broken or your soul is aching. The rest of the time — which is most of life — it can be alternately charming or annoying. Reflecting on Choices

What was it I was just talking about in my last blog about things falling together so easily? Hah! Well, sometimes they don’t. Or let me correct myself… sometimes I just get in my own way.  In doing some of my normal running around once I had my look completed, I stumbled upon a location and put together what I thought was a wonderful shot.  And then I realized how many days I had left before I go away for a bit, where I THINK I’ll be able to blog but can’t really be sure about the connection.  Bottom line:  I had to rethink my shots and try to “double up”.  So that fashion shot went into the storage bin as a possible idea for future use (only one of those has ever actually worked out lol) as did another using the beaded lamp that was in the preliminary stages so that I could combine the two into this one.  I’m actually really happy with the result… would I have been happier the other way? We’ll just never know lol!! But that’s the whole thing with choices, big and small… you make the best ones that you can based on the information you have, you live with them, and you move on. I just recently turned down a new sponsorship for an event, because they would have assigned me items to blog. (As of now, I choose which items to blog for all my sponsors.) Was it the right choice? Was I being “too diva”? It felt right at the time; it still does. Will it tomorrow? You just never know… Every day is a new moment, new choice.  😉

And just like that, it’s February.  So far, it’s a month of a still-freezing polar vortex, Valentine’s Day, and a special acknowledgment for me when logging in today, in that I learned that I’m a Blogger of the Month for 7 Deadly s[K]ins!!! The Flowers that Bloom in the Spring

http://The Flowers that Bloom in the Springhttp://Introducing ABBII’ve stubbornly got the Gilbert & Sullivan lyrics and thoughts of spring in my head as I watch the snow squalls of the polar vortex through my windows.  If I couldn’t escape to the freshness and (imagined) warmth of spring and summer here in Second Life, I could see myself succumbing to cabin fever and just losing it.  As my recent posts all attest, I definitely have spring on the brain.  And if the essence of spring is rebirth and newness, then in some ways, I’m living it as well… not just in my new home, but with new sponsors, and in the new looks and new designers I’m finding, and of course sharing with you! 😉

Springtime Dreams

I have been a Tonic gal ever since I made the switch to a mesh body, and I’ve never once regretted my choice. To this day, I believe that Tonic is the most natural-looking of ALL the mesh bodies, especially when it comes to curves… and let’s face it, I’m all about the curves (the blog is named Ceja’s Curvy Chic after all!)… However, and it’s a big however, Second Life clothing designers just aren’t keeping up with my taste or that of my fellow Tonic beauties. Yes, sometimes other sizes fit perfectly with a tweak of the alpha HUD, something I’ve tried to always mention in copy.  But it’s a fact that as a blogger it can sometimes be a struggle to show clothing at its best when it just doesn’t really fit and it takes an incredible amount of time to try to make it work, time that I simply don’t always have. This outfit (which I’m blogging because it was supposedly at Designer Circle but isn’t!) was the one that finally put me over the edge. With this neckline that totally frames this awesome tattoo, I definitely wanted to blog it, but even wearing two different sized cardigans, bits were either still popping through or visible parts were alpha’d out. After hours of tweaking and adjusting, I bit the bullet and decided to get a 2nd body from among the most popular brands so that not just this outfit but all the others down the road would fit.  My goal was to look as close to my current figure as possible, and with some experimentation I was able to easily achieve that with Slink Physique.  After purchase, I’ll admit that I ran into some issues getting my tattoo to show which caused me to reach out to Slink customer support because that was part of the whole point… within 10 minutes, I not only had a response, but they had checked me out, and as an experienced blogger who credits everything I was also gifted an Hourglass body so that I could play with it and hopefully blog about that body too! WOW! Completely unexpected, and completely blown away!  This will open up lots of new blogging opportunities in all kinds of designs that I haven’t been able to model before… so many exciting things to look forward to!

Let me say it right here, I’m not much of a cook these days. But I do love to bake.  I resist the urge more often than not because I eat up all that fresh-baked goodness and without sliders in RL I’m not happy with the results lol, but when I saw this pose set, I just couldn’t resist THAT urge. Do you ever feel like you’re in a race, but you don’t know for what?  I used to call it “hamster in a cage”, running without ever getting anywhere, and not a medal in sight lol.  Somehow when I put on this jacket (GREAT little leather jacket, isn’t it?) it immediately made me think of racing, and then my mind was off, down all those memory lanes. The picture I REALLY wanted was with some sexy yellow sports car, maybe even a racing car, but frankly, I stumbled upon this and my post-holiday pocketbook said “that works!”…  So no medals once again, but I’m looking first-class, and in my book, that’s the only award I need! 😉
