I have to say it’s been a bit of a rough time IRL since the end of last week.  First I found out that the reason why my foot was still bothering me after having fallen almost two weeks earlier is because I have a stress fracture… and that I need to wear a surgical boot from 2 weeks (unlikely) up to 4 weeks (hopefully as unlikely)… AND it’s on my right foot, which means that I can’t drive.  I can’t do much of anything, AND we had a family visit scheduled for a few days (which got shortened but not cancelled).   So it’s been a combination of pain, stress, frustration… been a bit hard to sit at the computer for hours in that one position, so photoshoots have been a problem, and even harder to be creative.  But some outfits demand to be seen and to have their qualities shouted from the rooftops… and this outfit definitely demanded its time in the limelight (or should I say “bodylight”?) and to take me away from my difficulties, at least for a few moments….  Happy shopping! (at least in SL, I can get around to all the sales and events without too much diifculty and with zero gimping lol)…

Incredibly rainy, windy, depressing day here, complete with tornado watch and wind whistling through the window next to me (which is incredibly annoying and appears to be unfixable)… perfect time to go exploring in this glorious alternate world of ours… And, naturally, looking fabulous while doing so, strutting around in my stiletto heels and incredible-looking dress!  Aaaargh, I thought there would be music here, to drown out that wind!  Maybe I should go shopping?

So as much as I may be knocked over by individual photos by fashion bloggers that always stand there looking straight at the camera in some variation of the same pose, personally I prefer pix that tell a story, that show the “model” caught in a moment of doing something.  That said, I’ve discovered that sometimes a particular fashion look demands a head-on, look-in-the-eyes pose, usually one with a bit of a challenge (at least in my own head, anyway lol).  This was definitely one of those times, and when I stumbled upon this little speakeasy, I just knew this was the place, and this was the atttitude…  Enjoy!

Just like life, blogging has its ups and downs.  Lately, I have to admit, it’s been more in the down mode.  Don’t get me wrong… I still love blogging per se, but it’s all the “stuff” that goes with it that has been exceptionally frustrating of late.  Part of that is SL itself… in playing with windlights, it no longer is “holding” where it was in the list so I have to remember to write it down or I have no idea what the last windlight was.  The LOD on items has been HORRIBLE… I had to derender about six of my birdhouses for this pic, and then move in a few more to give the effect I was hoping to get.  I couldn’t get my EvoX HUD to detach or open yesterday for modifying my makeup OR my expression (I had to resort to workarounds for both).  And then there’s FlickR.  Things not posting.  Comments not going through.  Minimal views.  Each thing in itself, not a big deal.  But when trying to make a deadline (and just winding up a 5-day migraine cluster does NOT help!), each and every one of those little things adds up to one big you-know-what.  Just a few more to do for February… hopefully March will be better technologically… and that definitely allows my creative juices to flow more freely as well.  In the meantime, happy shopping!

Now that we’ve all survived the Black Friday madness, we’re onto the holiday shopping.  Advent calendars, holiday sales, holiday events, decorating our homes (and in some cases, ourselves), exploring all the new winter sims… It’s a great time of year, when all the sparkling snow is beautiful and the decorations are so pretty… but I always know in the back of my mind that two months down the line, I’ll be feeling that old “I’m done with winter” feeling.  But for now, I’m definitely enjoying the holiday spirit, and gave myself the gift of a new me! Hot… it’s so very hot… I really wonder sometimes how people lived in this climate without air conditioning.  Yet they did, and sadly many still do.  Luckily, I have plenty of AC.. in the house, in the car, anywhere I go indoors.  I expect to be hot when I play golf, but it’s handle able —  I always have iced water and an iced towel handy, a fan going in the golf cart, and if it’s still too hot, I just don’t play.  I also expect to be hot when I walk the dog around 6:30p or so (moved from the earlier 6P time) but it’s definitely NOT as handle able — I’m a sodden exhausted mess by the time I return desperately needing fluid and some cold water on my face and neck, the dog is panting and exhausted, so I’ve had to severely curtail the length of the walk or one or both of us might collapse.  (I’d delay it till when it’s cooler, but when nature calls, etc etc, you do what you have to do.)  But indoors in the AC? Totally different story… and that opens up a whole new range of possibilities now, doesn’t it.  Stay cool!

http://The Qwikee MartEver since I stopped living in the city (which admittedly was decades ago lol) I’ve missed having that corner market to grab those few things you need on the way home (or the way out, for that matter).  Now when I need just one or two things I have to go get in either my car or golf cart (!!!) and drive over to the mega-grocery store.  I miss the convenience of easy in/easy out, where I really can do a “quickee shop”.  But on my way home from an early doctor’s appointment this morning, my stomach was growling and what I realized is that I also miss those fabulous egg, bacon and cheese sandwiches with hot sauce on an English muffin that they made on demand right around the corner..,  mmm mmm, wow do I miss the last-minute grab and go deliciousness of that!  Oh well, I guess that’s what kitchens are for lol!

Once again, naming a pic has been way too difficult. Sometimes I have an attitude in mind when I go to shoot; other times it might be the scene or a song that suggests one.  But in the vast majority, I’m just playing with different poses for whatever setting I’ve chosen to use, and since that attitude just kind of “happens”, they are (for me, anyway) the absolute hardest to title.  It used to be that I’d sometimes struggle for hours (or even a day lol) to come up with the “perfect” title.  Now I’ve learned that (a) there is no such perfection (I always ALWAYS come up with something better after the fact), (b) that it just doesn’t matter to anyone but me, & (c) that it just wastes a lot of time.  Right now, I’m running as fast as I can with all the things on my to-do list, so I’m just going with what I’ve got…  Happy Shopping!
