Moonstruck.  Its definition is “unable to think or act normally, especially because of being in love”.  (It’s also the title of one of my all-time favorite movies, with the line “Snap Out of It!”, but that’s for another post, a human one lol!) What’s relevant to THIS post is that it’s also part of the name of one of my new fantasy sponsors.  I’m so very excited to be able to share the first of what I can see will be many, many, MANY exceptional fantasy items.  And I myself am definitely moonstruck, totally in love with landscaping my new little lot of land, creating my own private wonderland, bursting with color and life and beauty…  Fluttering my wings happily as I gaze around at this little corner, which is high on a hill overlooking a largely unsettled river…  The beauty of this world never fails to amaze me; I hope you have the opportunity to create a spot that reflects you as much as this does me… Happy shopping!

The minute I put on this outfit, I felt ready to join the jetset crowd.  Images of yachts and unending days of sun on the water flooded into my brain.  I could just hear Robin Cook talking in my head lol! Well, that will never happen IRL, but it can ABSOLUTELY happen in Second Life.  Just to see how it felt, I bopped around to a few of the luxury yacht designers, and all I have to say is WOW!  If I could even choose, I definitely don’t have the prims to keep one moored at my dock… which means renting a special slip for it somewhere.  Hmmm, definitely something to add to the list to think about lol!  Just as IRL, I’m just not sure if I can afford the lifestyle lol!  But one thing is for sure… I can definitely rock the look!  Happy shopping!

I’ve had this blog basically ready to go since yesterday, but then life intervenes, things change, and what mattered to you yesterday just isn’t that important today.  Death has touched our family again.  It happens to everyone in time, and this was something that was long expected, but it is still a shock in its finality.  It’s the hardest part of life, one that always brings you up short, no matter when or how or why.  I need to let it settle with me for a bit, so I’m really not in the mood for my normal prattling on about this or that.  Life goes on, and I am comforted by the fact that his was filled with pain and was no longer “living”, and that now he is at peace and released from suffering.  Wishing everyone and their loved ones health, because as I’ve learned over the years, without it, happiness is hard to achieve…

Today’s the day…  the 2021 Fantasy Faire is going to end.  I’m so very thankful that it was extended through today the 12th (it was scheduled to end on the 9th): in the last few days I’ve managed to more deeply experience some realms that I’d barely touched upon earlier, not to mention pick up so many wonderful finds for both my home & garden and for my appearance.  Fantasy Faire has already relayed more than $86,000USD to help fight against cancer, and I’m proud to say that more than a few of my precious lindens are in that count!  (In fact, though my heart and mind are sad that FF is ending, my wallet is very very happy!).  I do want to say that I’ve been so very impressed by so many fantasy designers, and have been inspired to take some new risks and experiment with my look more than before. .. I even went out and bought some new land to create my own fantasy hideaway, rather than continue living in my Linden treehouse (that’s where yesterday’s post was, on my new land!!!)  But I couldn’t let the Faire end without at least one more post, one more character… not a warrior, not a princess, but more of a priestess, getting ready to close the portals till next year…  Spreading a little fairy dust in these few words, wishing you Happy Shopping, and a wonderful end to your Faire experience.

  • Outfit:  Dark Fairy Fashions – Ageate Gown (Agate Galaxy).  A medieval velvet gown with cropped shoulders, finger sleeves, & a metallic gold belt, Ageate is a perfect addition to a fantasy wardrobe!     • Skin:  Lazulien Gemstone Skin, worn in Bahliea.  Every skin from this designer is highly detailed, gorgeously styled, & pure fantasy to its core.  I just love the subtle texturing/shading of this skin, which is available in 25 color variations; gemstones are on the tattoo layer.  In Bom/Omega/mesh body & head applier versions for both male & female, plus add-ons for nails, Uni ears, etc., so it should work for just about every avatar. 
    • Horns:  Sanya Decohorns, which are 100% custom design, have two different color HUDs available (color or fade; I’m using the fade); both HUDs include options to individually color the horn base, the metals, the skulls, ribbons, tassels, & gems.  Unisex, moddable, & resizable!

Fantasy Faire Extended!

I’ve been so excited that Fantasy Faire was extended!  Instead of ending yesterday, it’s now running through the May 12th.  This not only provides the opportunity to see and explore things I might have missed, I’m now going back and purchasing all kinds of creations that I had loved but wasn’t sure that I could actually use.  I really need to stress that Fantasy Faire is not just for us fantasy folk!!!  If you appreciate creative builds, then you absolutely must tour the lands! There’s a brief summary of them all right HERE but they truly are something you need to see in person.  (And of course, keep in mind that this is a Relay for Life Event, so many many items are available where the proceeds go to the fight against cancer… shopping with a purpose!!!)  You won’t regret it!

  • Tylar’s Treasures – Tylar offers so many fantastic items to create the perfect fantasy setting that I have to admit I had a hard time choosing!  All items are still available at Fantasy Faire; the Faire store is in Ostara, HERE.
    • Dragon Stone Arch – offcenter, front; with animated fire-breathing dragon!  Dragon comes in different colors (I used Magenta). See the ad below.
    • Elven Flower Daybed – shown on right; amazing garden decor, animated with sits & dances (you can spot me sitting there, taking a much needed break!), with little whimsies emanating for that bit of sparkle! Comes in adult & PG versions. See the ad below.
    • Woodland Court Falls – center, back; waterfalls are (of course) animated (NOTE: I built the little pond, since it’s really made to go over water, but works awesome on land too as you can see).  See the ad below.

I have such mixed feelings this week… It’s the last week for my favorite event of the year, Fantasy Faire.  I’m starting to feel the pressure that no matter how many times I’ve gone and rambled just to see what I see, and how many totally directed shopping trips I’ve done, and fitting in a few marvelous events here and there, there just seems to be so much I’ve missed!  So on the one hand I’m thrilled to be flying around the Fantasy Faire almost every spare moment that I’m inworld, and I’m listening to Fantasy Faire radio as much as I can, but on the other I’m sad that it will be a whole year before it happens again.  Sighs, my wings drooping… Of course, that is part of what makes the Fantasy Faire so very VERY special.  It IS only once a year… this kind of magic and creativity just couldn’t be recreated month after month, and the Faire is so much more than just a shopping event.  It’s a true celebration of everything fantasy in Second Life, and that takes an awful lot of planning and dedication and creativity.  And there are still 5 days left!!!!  Fantasy Faire closes on May 9th… all I can say is DON’T MISS IT, even if you’re not into fantasy itself, it will amaze you and there’s plenty that humans can appreciate (and buy for the cause too!).  Just look at some of these!

Don’t Leave Me

I’m a fae.  I’m a fantasy character living in a fantasy world filled with magical creations.  But even I have been touched by cancer.  And I don’t just mean my real-world counterpart, who has been impacted by the death of loved ones, who has been watching a brother-in-law fade away due to a 911 cancer.  Here on the grid, I lost my bff years ago to an extremely rare cancer.  And that is the awful thing about cancer… it touches everyone in some way.  Some suffer through it themselves and survive; others watch their loved ones suffer, and all too often have to endure the loss that follows.  And yes, death is a part of life. that never-ending circle.  But that doesn’t make the pain and loss any easier to bear, even when it is a grief shared by many.  That is why Relay for Life is so important… it’s an easy way for all of us to do something to help fight against this disease, to help fund those who are looking to find a cure so that in some happier future, there will be less loss, suffering and pain due to cancer.

In traversing the 21 wondrously creative Fairelands of Fantasy Faire 2021, a Relay for Life event that has raised almost $44,000USD by the end of the 9th Faire Day (that’s halfway through the event), the realm of Ling Xiao Long struck a particularly resonant chord.  To quote the FF website, “Hua Long Dian Jing, is a Chinese proverb meaning “painting a dragon, dotting its eyes.” The proverb comes from a story about an artist who painted a dragon who came to life as soon as the eyes have been dotted. The design of this region brings this proverb to reality, manifesting strokes of ink brush into a 3D world.”   I found the stark juxtaposition of bright red against the black and white brush strokes to be highly impactful, evoking a sense of loss and living in a colorless world after having suffered and lived through a loss.  I highly recommend taking a break from shopping and going for a stroll through this realm (which is an event region and therefore without any stores)… but then go back and do more shopping with a purpose!  Let’s raise that donation amount to the cause!!!!

A Long Hot Summer

In my little corner of the world, life seems to be heading back to normal.  The vast majority of those who want to be vaccinated have done so, which makes everyone more willing to go out and do things.  And as more activities resume after this more-than-a-year-long hiatus, there’s so much more to do!  With the snowbirds returning to the north, it’s starting to get easier to get into classes where spacing is limited because of still-in-effect Covid restrictions.  The bottom line is that I’m busier than ever, both with physical activities and now with a newly invigorated social life.  It really is amazing to me how life has changed since our move in November.  The looming issue are the warnings about how hot it does get here in the summer.  Well, NY was no picnic either with its hot humid summers, but summer here does last about twice as long.  Of course, everything down here is air conditioned and many outdoor restaurant spots have misters, which should help but only time will tell.  At this point, I’m actually enjoying the hot days (we’ve been in the low 90s many times already, but who knows?  All I can do is prepare for the long, hot summer ahead! (And of course, shop… there’s always shopping!!!!)
